100 million transfer kitty, 6 million a year, total control over transfers. Benitez terms for West Ham Manager. Come on Mr Moshri/ Brands we can easily match that and certain Benitez would work in harmony with Brands - mutual respect. If Sam is worth 6 mill, Benitez has to be worth at least double that. One thing is certain is that Benitez is an upgrade on the touted favourite (Silva) .

{Ed025's Note - i dont get all this negativity towards silva you know DFS, good young up and coming manager and very well thought of by all the experts, i dont know what evertonians want anymore we are not an elite club anymore and the top names will not be coming (not that raffa is one of these), cant we just be happy that we are moving on and look forward to the future without slagging the guy off before we have even appointed him?, its not just you mate but why cant we just be happy that the club is moving forward and we learn to walk before we can run..

With you on that Ed mate let’s greet whoever we get and give him a couple of seasons to sort out our. sorry mess, and above all get behind him and look forward to the good times.

{Ed025's Note - its a step in the right direction GB and and after the last 6 months i think we should be doing handstands mate..

Sorry. I will of course add that if it is Silva, I will back him to the hilt and rather than with Alardyce (he was always a stop gap) , believe he should be given time even if that means finishing outside the top 6 for a couple of seasons as long as we can see we are going in the right direction.

{Ed025's Note - thats all im advocating DFS, lets give the guy a chance and not be defeatist before we give him a shot, it was not a dig at you personally mate but at the negativity that seems to be plaguing this club at the moment..

I think the signing of Marcel Brands will be the most important thing we have done.

I think ALL of the managers that have been talked about are refreshing and exciting.

Personally, I like Silva as he has experience of building a club up from the bottom and getting it to the top. He's also a winner in more than one country meaning he's adaptable.

I have no doubt we disrupted his time at Watford when they were doing well so I can give him the benefit of the doubt.

I don't like Benetez as a man and is as arrogant as Sam. He's a good manager but I'm a bit sick of all the old school ones now and would like to see us move into this new era with a more forward thinking outlook.

Whoever it is though I am sure he will have a more progressive type of football and hopefully the board have learned a valuable over the past 6 months.

If Rafa wants total control over transfers then he will not be coming to Everton as surely the recruitment falls under Brands job description? Maybe this is why he has not been mentioned or considered.

BlueJohnsUns I have to disagree reg Rafa being arrogant as I have met the man and he was a cracking fella both winding each up other Liverpool and Everton he was on a tour of Alder Hey and he even came back to say bye but I agree with bluegray87 Rafa won't come because he likes to have final say on transfers and I'm more than happy with Silva before he joined Hull he had a 70% win rate at Olympiacos and did very well in Portugal taking a team from the second tier to the premiership and a cup win.

Maybe Blue. I've not met him personally. However, saying he cleaned up Jose's mess at Chelsea and Real after he'd won most trophies out there and calling us a small club probably just makes him stupid rather than arrogant. Either way I'm not overjoyed at someone coming in who said that about us.

Yes I like him, but his demands mean nothing, it's all about the money, I would have him here.

bluejohn 12 months ago I would of agreed but as of today I will be happy with 1 of Silva emery or Rafa all different coaches who will bring something different to the table one thing is for sure this close season is the biggest on our history.

My contention is that Silva is unproven and for me far to like Martinez (another who at the time I and others warned about) . We need someone that will command respect. If we want a young and upcoming Manager how about home grown such as Dyche. Benitez it is for me though, the guy has done it and more importantly knows how the game works and knows what it takes to succeed.

After the last 6 months of football served up by Allerdyce I would have my missus as manager. If it's Silva let's get behind him . I have a feeling that he is going to surprise us.

The problems with Silva is not his tactics or style but apparently brings problems where ever he goes. (or so i've heard. )

whoever becomes manager, there’ll be some discontented fans. Their views are valid and honestly held, so I’m not criticising them.
What I will point out is that our two most successful (trophy-winning) managers - Harry Catterick and Howard Kendall - had fans calling for their sacking on some occasions, but the club stood firm and reaped the benefit.

Some of our fans are starting to sound like ones at other clubs. wanting change all the time for change sake. We need some stability now. With maybe a couple of signings. Wholesale changes is not what we need. Look what happened last season with 5 new players coming in.
