Hi Eds, hope you're all keeping well. Just a quick question under the new management will there be a different approach to buying players. Will they go for younger players like Ben Godfrey in the hope of them making an inpact for a few years and selling them on at a profit and reinvesting in the squad. This would be my preference. Or go with players like Doucoure or Allan who will make an immediate impact but there's no possibility of selling on
for decent money due to their age.
Whether we like it or not football is a business and the latter is unsustainable long term.
Thanks Eds.

{Ed025's Note - ideally young players with a sell on value would be what the club want kerry but they must be of a high ability, brands was brought in to facilitate that but its not always easy, the team have to be competitive so more experienced players will have to be part of the set up as well so its a balancing act really mate..

Think we have enough thirty year olds in the squad. Godfrey has proven that their are very good young players out there. Aarons would be a good start.

While I can see why it's done it really annoys me to think we would only want to buy someone with the aim of selling for a profit, we will get nowhere if we keep doing that. We certainly won't catch the bigger clubs if we are just waiting for them to fill our coffers while they compete for the trophies.

{Ed025's Note - its not that we will set out to sell them rick, its more of an insurance policy mate..

That’s the way football works unless you’re one of the top 3 clubs in the world. You buy low, sell high, replace with better, rinse and repeat and hope a manager can get them jelling well enough that you progress as a team. It does work, look at Leicester.
