This Gabriel (or his agent) sounds like a right piece of work! Apparently talking to Man U now! Maybe they need to talk to 25 clubs before deciding. We could dodge a bullet by not signing him as I don't think he'd stay around long!

Sadly the only reason he would come to us after speaking to Arsenal then United would be that we overpaid in wages etc. We can’t afford that so i do hope we have walked away.

I'd rather us go for the galatasary centre half. He's a big unit and good defender. And I think available for roughly 13 mill.

I disagree sa90. It seems like he’s wanted to see what options are out there before making a choice. I know this is how it works in all walks of like but to blame the club for all failed transfers is not always fair.

Not blaming the club for not signing him at all, I think if he was really wanted he would have been bought by now. Personally I don't think a CB is a priority at the moment so don't really mind if we don't sign one in order to get other areas sorted first.

Sorry but if a player of his class comes along and we have an option to buy why not at 22 and a left footed player sell on fee would be astronomical possible blank cheque, and all the best teams build from the back first.

I agree with sa90, we have Keane, Mina, Holgate and even Branthswaite coming through strongly, Gibson out on loan.

Our midfield is a very big concern, so strengthening there for me is a must.

Gabriel would probably have been a good signing for us.

However why some fans are getting annoyed with club for not signing him is crazy!

He’s a human being at the end of the day and he will decide where he wants to play - it is not as simple as paying a fee and the player is yours!

Some of our fans need a reality check, regardless if we can match or even offer more than other teams bids and wages what do we as a team have to offer? No champions league, no Europa league, no challenging at top end of the table, no silverware for 30 odd years.

We are not an attractive proposition - as fans we would love to sign the best players but if we take our blue tinted glasses off and you were in his shoes would you want to join us?

Has anyone ever seen Gabriel ever play other than few champions league matches here and there, I’m not saying he is not good just he’s unproven and CB is not as desperate as people think, a better midfield will make are defensive unit a lot better.
