Ed how much money is there left mate? Is there still some activity to be done?
{Ed025's Note - if bobby wants a player the funds are there..its up to him roy..
1.) I don't doubt there's some money available for more transfers if required by RM, but I'd be concerned about how much more we can increase our annual wage bill under the Premier League regulations. We've only released a handful of fringe players this transfer window, so they surely won't have reduced the wage bill by much. So far in RM's tenure, we've brought in several players and made some loans permanent and given extended contracts to a few players - although I accept that moving out Fellaini, Heitinga and Jelavic last season would have reduced the wage bill.
Do any of you have any informed realistic idea about how much the players' annual wage bill is and how much more we can increase it this season?
2.) Sid - you can spend as much as you want on wages and on transfers, the kicker is that it has to be within the money you as a club have generated from football related revenue.
Put simply (the amount of money you lose is actually not so important) if we had a turnover of 80 million last season that's what we have to play with, the fact that tv money has gone up by about 30 million means we have about 30 million extra to play with.
About 90% of our costs has been on players wages for the last 5 years or so.
Speaking of reducing the wage bill with the players that left do not think for one minute that Roberto is on the same ludicrous money Moyes was on. Moyes had a rule where he had to be the highest paid at the club so him going would reduce the cost by about 30k a week.
FFP is not fair, it actually allows big clubs to get bigger because they will always generate more money through football related revenues (gate receipts, sponsorship, shirt sales etc) so will always be able to spend more.
