Going into the game today and it looks like our front 3 will consist of Gray, Gordon and McNeil who going on the posts below have scored just 2 goals between them in the last 81/ 86 games or Rondon who I don't think has convinced anyone that he is currently a premiership standard player.

What concerns me more is that we have known we are weak in attack since last year when both DCL and Ricky were injured and we struggled

Since then we have sold Ricky last June, we have let Simms and Dobbin go out on loan and are in the process of allowing Deli to leave. To compensate this all we have done is signed McNeil who in 40 appearances last year didn't score one goal and can be seen to be lacking in confidence in the first 2 games this year

I'm struggling to understand that this is good planning by Everton

I know the injury to DCL was last minute but with his injury record last year we should have got cover in for him before his injury
I know we had to sell Ricky due to FFP but we knew that and we haven't replaced his goals
I know Simms and Dobbin have to develop but at least one of them should have been kept until we made some signings. Simms at least knows how to convert chances, something McNeil, Gray, Gordon and Rondon are struggling with at the moment
Deli has been a bad buy and god knows what we are paying in his salary during his loan with Besitikas and to Spurs in compensation but surely a poor Dele was better than what we will have on our bench today

Until we sort out our weaknesses in attack I can't say this has been a good window. 3 games in and no attacking threat and we've known about it for months?

It's my team and I hope our forwards start firing and we strengthen soon but we really shouldn't have got into this situation.

Good post mate. Frustrating to hear Frank say “nobody saw injury to DCL coming” - i think most of us on here were not surprised and I’m sure he will be injured 2-3 more times throughout season.

This is no disrespect to Dom. He plays a physical game and injuries inevitable

For me if Rondon is fit he has to start. Even just to hold the ball up

I think we need to sign it forward who plays like Dom. otherwise we will need to change our style of play every time he is injured.

Also think we need a different type of striker so we can change things up during the game if that style is not working

I agree though – Its our team and I am impressed with the transfer window so far.

I think we are getting a good team put together.

Wish fans would give it a rest regards lack of strikers.

We all know we’re short in that department - however it’s not fantasy football - you can’t just go out and pick one up.

It needs planning and ensuring the right player is picked.

We’ve made so many rubbish transfers we’ve all moaned about.

Now the club is taking time and ensuring we get the right player in we still moan.

We’d all love a new striker but we can’t just buy one for of it - do we want another Tosun?

This has been a great window so far and I’m sure it’ll get better - just need to be patient as frustrating as that is.

Sorry Dan - yet again getting criticised by you for having an opinion on a banter page

Nobody suggested buying one for the sake of it. Not just fans - its the manager acknowledging lack of strikers.

Really don't understand this. We support a team currently unable to score a goal and it would appear that you believe that is caused by fans discussing our lack of firepower. What evidence have you of the imminent arrival of the "right player"?

GD

And this 'right player' won't be with us until the 4th game of the season at the earliest when even you admit 'we know we're short in that department'

We've known for months

Where's the prioritising, the planning?

I don't expect we will sign a striker this window, any number 9 good enough will have better offers, and the clubs owner seems to have finally realised that you can't just throw money at the problem, and have to get the right personnel. Big mistake sending Simms out on loan IMO, he should have been given a chance as understudy till January.

So those moaning we haven’t brought a striker in, do you genuinely believe it’s because the board aren’t bothered or aren’t trying to sign one?

Or do you think it’s because the right one is not yet available?

Bear in mind right one will be one we want, we can afford, wants to come to us, is available etc.

How can this be true when there’s 38 games in a season. I remember Gordon scoring a brace in one game without any others he’s had. Rondon scored a couple in the cup. Grey scored against arsenal and other games where we won by one goal etc and also had a good spell on the Bench with an injury.
