BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! Tim Howard has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club till 2016, talks with Distin to resume end of the month.

Before anyone decides to rain on the parade of the 2nd piece of good news today this is on SNN text pages with quotes from Tim himself. I haven't had chance to go on the EFC home pages yet but this is good news as was the kit deal.

With regard to that piece of news and the subsequent responses; yes Nike do own Umbro, however we have signed with Nike not the subsidiary company so I expect that next seasons kits will have the Nike emblem. I don't recall ever seeing a poor Nike product so I would think the merchandise will vastly improve as well in style and range and because of Nike's worldwide brand our kits should start appearing everywhere.

Now this bit is supposition, Tim Howard, Marcus Hannerman and Landon donovan are all big names in the states and 'soccer' is very popular now with Beckham at the Galaxy. I don't believe a company as big as Nike would enter into our kit deal without knowing of potential sales and interest in the USA.

It augers well for the future so come on blues lets be happy

Not sure about this new contract, he has cost us a lot of goals this season through a lot of school boy errors.

Every keeper makes mistakes but he has been one of our best sigings under moyes and more often than not he is top quality {Ed025's Note - i agree mate, every keeper makes the odd mistake, but as you say...tim has been great for us..

CONFIRMED... Nike to sponsor Everton next season in a 3 year deal worth 30 million. Hope the kits are quality! Been pretty poor since Le Coq took over

With these idiots in charge it's more likely that Fray Bentos will be announced as the clubs new sponsor, worth a bumper 20 quid and free pies for Bill and chums over the next 3 years!

Shut up complaining will you, why even say fray bentos when it's confirmed that Nike are in, koppite or compulsive moaner

Some people do my head in on here. We get some good news for a change and still the sarcastic comments. I, for one am excited about this deal, it makes me think there is something else going on in the background and just proves we are heading in the right direction. A three line story from the website of the Daily Mirror is purely and simply not confirmation but a rumour and to argue otherwise simply demonstrates that you don't know what confirmation means - even if this rumour does come to fruition! The point of pessism is that in the past the abundance of rumours that have not come into fruition demonstrates that the pessimistic reaction is the one most likely to be accurate and the optimistic one the point most likely to be a lie!

I'm happy Nike are in as more revenue for us but I don't agree the Le Coq kits were no good. I think they have been pretty decent overall (except the mustard crew neck jobby)!

If everton is getting taken over by nike for the sponsor of our kits, and supposed to be worth 30 million they should at least make them pretty good.

Wowwwwwwwww how much do people moan on here!!! I'm the original poster, heard it on Radio City, read it in the paper and read it announced on 7 Everton page forums on Twitter and Facebook.
Sorry next time i hear some good news i wont post on here!! It's a great deal compared to the Le Coq Sportif deal, that deal was worth less than 5 million over 3 years we are more than doubling are money and a worldwide brand are making our kits so i would expect better designs and the money will be great for a club in our position. As i said though i'l think twice before posting good news on here, i'l wait untill we get beat in a game and come on and slag Moyes and the players off most of you seem to prefer that!!!

Seen a sneake preview of new kit on twiter if genuine kit as thin black stripes running through it. I like it.

Clearly the original post was in error, Nike will be MAKING the kit, NOT sponsoring the team - HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Nike own Umbro so I wouldn't count on it being a Nike made kit just yet as there is every possibility we could go back to Umbro let's face it Nike will want to be associated with as Big team as possible not that we are small (top four team) an that costs £££££ to take us on with our potential under Umbro for £30mil if we did make the top four it would be easy to change from Umbro to Nike saving them ££££££ that they would have to offer a present top four team ?? Only a thought like...... Hope I'm wrong either way change is good and a step in the right direction.

Also according to Echo, don't expect 10 mill in Moyes pocket for transfers, the money , will come over time & via marketing strategies etc...still a goo deal , but it doesn't just give us 10 mill a season to spend ....for 3 years

Great news but we need to get this ridiculous situation sorted where you can only buy Everton kits from the club shop,we need to get our Everton everywhere

We will be able to buy the new kits anywhere next season as we r not with kitbag then thank god

I don't care who sponsors the kits really as long as KitBag are gone, it's ridiculous you can only buy kits and other mercahndise from the store or online! Other clubs have there stuff all around the country like we used to before KitBag took over!!

Why would it matter who sponsers a kit the only thing that matters is the money to use for finance of club use

Everton don't sell enough shirts to get a £10M a year deal from Nike.
Celtic get £5M a year + probably another £5M+, depending on shirt sales.
No way do Everton sell anywhere near the amount of shirts Celtic sell. {Ed025's Note - but the thing is mate...we play in a proper league. now if mickey mouse wanted a sponsorship deal...im sure celtic would be top of the list!..

I'll bet it was £10M over 3 years, at most.
