I understand what people are saying about Martinez and his leaky defense at Wigan but if he came to Everton he'd be inheriting a solid defense and with possibly McCarthy to replace fellaini and mcmanaman (spelling) I can't see why we could finish in top 6 again.

timmyEFC

1.) Why is it no one else seems to mention Maloney from Wigan while the others are good players for me he has been there best player

2.) Even our defenders have shown they have the occasional mistake in them. The thing is that our defenders are experienced enough - as individuals and a unit - to deal with making mistakes and moving on. Plus, I'm sure DM worked on defensive drills and made sure the players knew what they "should" do and made sure they were "motivated" to do so.
Although I think Roberto Martinez is a sound candidate for Everton manager, I do accept that he must take some responsibility for the suicidal self-destruct defending of Wigan - he coaches them and he motivates them, so he has to sort out their failings.

3.) Yeah but the problem is that Maloney is nearing 30 now and is coming towards the end of his career we need younger players

4.) No one mentions Maloney because he is about 30! We want to sign younger players, not more 30 year olds!

eds, how many points do u see us getting from our remaining games and therefore where do u think we will finish?

timmyEFC {Ed025's Note - thats too hard to predict mate..

timmyEFC

1.) We need to win our 3 home games against QPR, Fulham and West Ham as a minimum. As for our 4 away games, Sunderland, Arsenal, Liverpool (no chance) and Chelsea, we need about 7-8 points from them as well as hoping for others to slip up. We must win against Arsenal or it's goodbye Europe. Going to be tight.

2.) Well we have 4 games before the mersey derby
qpr (h)
arsenal (a)
sunderland (a)
fulham (H) we need to take at least 8 points from them

lfc have reading (a) chelsea (h) newcastle (a)

spurs have no game this weekend but then have city (h) wigan (a) then chelsea (re arranged game)

arsenal have norwich (h) everton (h)
fulham (a) man u (h)

in my opinion the its still all to play for, we don't fear having to go to arsenal, lfc and chelsea and we should win our home games, we will have felli and peanuts back, plus mirrallas is getting better with each game, 4th/3rd will probably go to the wire and believe me we will give it our very best, coyb

gud point today, shame we didn't hold on. the next two games are must win. we stil have a shout of europe! it ain't over til its mathematically impossible.

timmyEFC

1.) A good point, but you cannot play 11 men on defense in a turtle shell for 25 minutes ( actually the entire second half ). We have made a habit of trying to protect one goal leads all season. Is it about 20 points we've surrendered from a winning position? Good game though. Think of Barkley as how Seamus Coleman was 6 months ago. Barkley needs time. And Victor is quite the beast.
