I think we need city or united to come in for stones, as I have a horrible feeling chavski will just wipe what we owe for lukaku and give us a loan player and £6m, we need money the big time if he goes

Football transfers don't work like that,Everton will have some kind of payment plan say like 7M a year over the duration of Lakaku's contract, so Chelsea can't change those terms or use money owed as leverage to get Stones at a cheaper price Everton hold all the cards so just a matter of price if Everton decide to sell.

Mike S hits the nail on the head here. The two deals are separate so we are free to get the best deal we can from Chelsea, if it ever came to that, without them trying to call in money we owe from Rom deal. This smacks of desperation on Chelsea's part, if Stones has a solid season, goes to the euro's and does well then the likes of city and united will also come in with bids. The fact he is home grown will be of interest to all the top money clubs. It would be more beneficial to us if an auction took place, so to deal with Chelsea now would be stupid. They are trying to get him on the cheap before others become interested.

As much as I like Lukaku, I would prefer the £25m being quoted for him to be spent on 3 players.
Batshuayi aged 20 leige £7m (release clause)
Drnic aged 21 nurnberg £3.5m (relegation clause)
Firminho aged 22 Hoffenheim £14m
their wages, will probably just total over Lukaku's too
with traore on loan, kone back we will have a blend of experience and youth upfront. It could be the way forward
