Come over a bit pessimistic I know, but from the start Bill said he would listen to the fans on appointing our new manager. What does he do but appoint Martinez on the basis of one good game against us and watching him win the FA Cup. Didn't BK see any of Martinez constant relegation battles? His tactics and lack of ability are going to make us fight relegation all this season. We haven't even played anyone of note yet. 15th 3 points from 3 games. 38 could be Championship next season {Ed025's Note - a bit pessimistic you say?..downright depressing i would say!..and totally wrong..

Thing is I don't think Baines will sign a new contract, he wants away aswell but fair do's to the lad he has kept his head down and gob shut. Actually to expand, I think he will leave it on the table to see how Martinez develops.

Wouldn't have thought so from where I sat/sit Osman put in a shift. I didn't hear nary a word from anyone around me. By heck though I have not heard that wall of sound for years, also had no idea that Barry could play like that. If Lukaku hits the ground running and if Martinez sticks with that mix of play and grit, he will make me eat my earlier words.

Would have kept Anichebe over Kone as well. Barry a better passer than Fellaini and for that matter much better tackler. McArthy a good acquisition but paid to much for him. Just what is this predilection with Martinez buying players from Wigan, the same players using his tactics that took Wigan down.

Compared to what Roberto is used to it is a step up and with his 'talented abilities and back room staff' should be capable of getting us to finish above the bottom 3 for a couple of seasons. That is until he runs out of excuses.

I agree with the reply. It never seems to work out that way though does it. There was another post that said this excess from deals should be put toward wages and either reduce our debt or at least keep it stable. The thing is that season on season the profit from deals seems to disappear under the heading 'other costs'

That's what I voted for anyway.

There was a feeling (we all thought it) that Leighton wouldn't sign a contract extension and the news this morning seems to confirm that. Don't get me wrong unlike some other players (not at this Club), Leighton has not only been the best left back in the Country (my opinion) but an absolutely model professional and utmost respect to the lad.

The common denominator in Moyes tactics at Everton that kept us round about 6, 7, 8 in the Prem and now his keeping Utd round about 6, 7 and 8 is Mr S Round. I admit I was sorry to see Moyes go but if it mean't Mr Round going with him then it was worth it. I also have to admit that Martinez is probably based on this 5 games a better tactician.

I am not ready to eat humble pie just yet vis a vie opinion of Martinez. Barry was tremendous, his timing and distribution was spot on (hope this does not drive his value up). If we get the same out of Lukaku and McArthy, I will be well made up. What Martinez saw yesterday was the lads taking a bit of his philosophy and marrying it with Everton grit, I hope he encourages it from now on, on the practice ground. {Ed025's Note - barry is out of contract at the end of this season mudmud, so no fee will be involved..

We all have our opinions. We will have to see. I have already said that I support the Manager. I also criticised Moyes, sometimes it was excruciating and baffling watching some of his decisions, but our first 3 games under him would have returned 4 if not 5 points. However, with our latest Manager, we seem to have a man full of excuses and rhetoric. It is alright playing good football but we need results.
