why are everyone negative about kone I believe he will be a success for us and with him coming in there is more pressure on big vic and jelly which is a good thing. If we keep fellani and bainsey (god) and bring in honda and maybe alcaraz on free and a new keeper I believe we will be fully loaded for the start of the season. Ross barkley to have a big season under martinez wot u rekon ed {Ed025's Note - that would be ideal for me mate..

Couldn't agree more Honda finishing touch though

Agree0 Disagree0

Honda, Diame. Strong squad. Potential outlay for those two 8.5m, no brainier.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diame and either Alcaraz or Manga finally back up keeper enough. Expect 5. 5 up to 10 m. Include Kone total 15 m. Meet budget. If we wanna spend more we have to sell. Sure do not want to sell Felli and Bainsey.

I am really excited about the prospect of having kone upfront I honestly think he is a really great player definatly capable of scoring 15- 20 goals a season and he will also offer a lot to the team we have been crying out for a striker of the drogba esq player for years. I think he is also the player we all hope Vic will develop into and I can only see kone benefiting vics development hopefully some of kones composure and calmness in front of goal rubs of on Vic

Exciting season ahed lads get ready!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dave Hickson. A real, 100% true legend. RIP

And a real gentleman, over many years he was responsible for conducting the tours around the ground. There was nothing he didn't know about our club.

The David Villa stuff is just stupid. The guy wanted to stay in Spain so why even compare or bring it up? We have another attacking option now. We had a very good team but a weak squad. Give last seasons first 14 some support and we will go places, give me 5 mill for Kone over 17 mill for an overrated Beazilian anyday. 3 or 4 more players of Kone quality and our squad will match our team. No big changes required unless Baines, Jags or Felli goes, just give them some back up and Kone is that mould. I would be looking at a keeper, a winger, and a centre mid with Alcaraz on a free to replace our current back up centre back Jonny H.

Wouldn't be surprised if Jellavic leaves this summer, could see him going somewhere like West ham or outside of the prem, I reckon we could cash in on him. I think about 7-8 mil we'll get

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why write him off after a poor season. cheered him to the rafters when we signed him then boo him last season. I felt sorry for him. I saw 1game where he was on 6 yrd line in tonnes of space and piennar ignored him nd tried to shoot into 5 opposition players and keeper. I think bobby with get him back to his best. I hope anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason pienaar did that dentielad is because some of the squad lost faith/confidence in him, he'll come good this season, especially if he plays with kone. kone will do the work going out to the wings so jelly can stay in the box

Agree0 Disagree0

Id like bobby to try this

Miralles Jelavic Kone

I reckon it could damage many a premier league defense. Anyone agree

I really hope RM has bought Kone to
Play upfront with jelavic if jelavic can hold his position in the middle the strong running down the channels from Kone could see a strong partnership develop they along with vic and vellios
As backup will give us four big units up top expect to see three at the back with
Alcraz coming in next to jags an distin
With wing backs in the five in midfield
Baines and Coleman will be these two
Peanuts or other mirrales Gibson will be our midfield trio I expect RM to spend
On a midfielder so one more big signing to come and a couple of loanees
Will do us coyb rip Dave Hickson

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What about Felliani?

I think Kone will prove a decent signing and will fit into Martinez style of play. I think his link up play and positioning are good and I as I think we will play 4-3-3 with attacking wingers I think he could be a good fit with Mirallas and maybe Moses/Mcmanaman up there supporting. We don't have the money to splash big on a striker but if Martinez can revitalise Jelavic and maybe get the lad from barca on loan our attacking options will look a lot better next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2013 19:46:27
Apart from the manager and his coaching staff nothing has changed, rumour after rumour about so called signings that never happen, more and more dithering, some of our alleged targets being snapped up by footballing giants such as Norwich and Swansea, what is going on behind the scenes in this once great club, It's hardly BK's fault, he admits he's skint, how is the ground such an issue, yes we need a new one. Goodison get it sorted, no more excuses

so athletico madrid confirm david villa has agreed a 2 year deal worth 3.6 million euros a year and he is costing them 2.1 million euros upfront and a further 3 million euros should he see out the remaining year of his contract with barcelona having a 50% sell on fee errrmmmm why didn't we do this deal? he said he chose to stay in spain due to no concrete offer from the premier league so 55k a week for kone which isn't far off 70k in euros and for 4 million less and would only have to keep him a year so he could fire us to better things, i'm not negative about kone I can just see how stupid the signing is, I will back him like all other blues but its still disappointing we have bought him

Kone will be good for us - nice signing!

(If we'd have had him last year we'd have had got champs league)

Martinez says he's a great player at the top of his game - that's good enough for me! :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, we wouldn't. Why? Because last season we had Moyes as boss, so he wouldn't have been played in his central forward position, whereas if we had Martinez and Kone next season, I'd probably agree with you.

I personally didn't want Kone (and I showed that on here) - too old to be spending £5m on, due to our financial problems as well as our squad's age - but now we have him I'll support him like any other player to wear our shirt.

Besides, if he scores enough to fire us to the Champions League, he'll repay the £5m we payed to sign him.

I just feel he has the pressure now. He showed he can do it last season, now can he do it in a club with higher needs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im looking forward to seeing kone play. he brings summit new to our front line. strong quick holds ball up and can finish. so what if he is 29. distan was older when we signed him and I don't hear complaints about him. kone must be getting hibbos no2 jersey. few more signings robbie

For those who aren't sure about Kone, have sympathy for Tottenham. This morning, they thought they were getting David Villa.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Atleast they targeted david villa a guy whos record is 300 goals in 460 games and has just signed for athletico for 2.1 million euros upfront and on 70k euros a week wages, that's only about 60k our money so 5k more than kone for 4 million less and he says he chose to stay in spain as there wasnt concrete interest from england, I know who i'd rather have

Agree0 Disagree0

Your a fool if you think Villa is on only 70k euros a week try over 100k a week then you would be closer why do you think he was so cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2013 16:51:27
All this negativity is this the same group of players that got relegated so we should not buy any of them what a pile of rubbish you seem forget that that was the same team that won fa cup and played a lot of bigger clubs off the park I for one was disappointed when Wigan got relegated they played a huge part in prem league history and they played some classy football in spells yes they could not turn there position into goals consistantly in league but let's give them credit better than some of the sides that did not go down sunderland were rubbish and would not even watch on tv but always watched wigan if they were on sky kone will be a good buy and I want all you people to post in 6 months time saying it was a crap buy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was made up when they went down. small twon club with a small town mentality. give me Leeds. Sheff Weds, Forest and the likes any day over Wigan. The only disappointing thing about them going down was they were local for the away game. Rubbish club who don't belong in the prem (imo) { {Ed025's Note - bit harsh that paddo IMO..

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddock blue you are talking rubbish wigan deserved to be in the prem they earned there right to play there as do any side that get promoted, here here to original post ed can we control the people who post and talk rubbish not the rumours but ones that don't know much about the game

Agree0 Disagree0

You can have leeds sheff wed and forest paddock. wigan coped well for the few seasons they were in prem and played so real entertaining football. the 3 aformentioned aren't in prem so obviously not good enough to get out of championship

Agree0 Disagree0

If you're referring to me in that last post, I've been watching Everton for nearly 40 years and been a season ticket holder for more than 20 of them so you're wrong about me knowing nothing. I have an opinion and I have a right to it. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't automatically mean it is rubbish so don't be so close minded. Of course Wigan deserved to be there, they won promotion to the league and stayed there BUT IN MY OPINION they are a small town club. Their fan base si s*** the ground is like going to a wake and they have vritually no away support so that is my opinion of them. They sent 30k plus tickets back for the semi final. disgraceful. The likes of who I mentioned earlier are big clubs and it's a shame to see them languishing where they are. Going to Leeds was always an exciting game, same with Forest (although you got stuck under a pylon there) do you get excited about going to Wigan or them coming to Goodison? I don't and the atmosphere durig them games tells me not many do. Or do you not go the game?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2013 15:59:13

I have to say as a Toffee i'm utterly disgusted with peoples attitude towards our new signing Kone. Posters on here are not giving the lad a chance, so what he's 29. We moaned last year about squad dept and striking options, so Bobby Martin goes out and signs a striker (who scored more than all our natural strikers last season) and all some do is complain.

Lets give him a chance, if nothing it provides more competition and might light a fire under the Jellyman. I know everyones entitled to their opinions, but how about not judging a player until we see him in the blue.

Also have any of these posters looked up Kone's carrer history, he scores an average of 1 goal every 3 games, and previously went form PSV to Seville for 10million pound, he did have difficulties there due to lack of playing time and publishised bust ups, but if you take away he time at Seville he has a very good scoring record of 1 goal every 2. 5 games or so! i'l take that next season.

So give him a chance.

Not delighted to see Kone sign. Especially for £55k p/w. Will give the lad a chance though might come good but it does worry me about Martinez transfer policy and club ambition.

We should be looking to lower the age of the squad and bring in some players who take us into Europe not players who will most likely be finished in a few seasons and are more likely to help us survive in the premiership.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2013 16:49:31
You didn't mention his footballing ability so by your logic ronaldo who is the same age as kone maybe a few months younger you wouldn't like him at everton? So it is better we sign frimpong than iniesta just because frimpong is younger? Wow great ambition

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea we have young players queuing up to take us to the next level. We have to buy experience, and then build around that. Oh and keep our best players.

I think he will turn out to be a good signing even though I'm a bit unsure about RM I think he knows what he's doing and we should all get behind him and I'm sure there is many more like me who were unsure of a certain David moyes to begin with.

I think some people are on here really need to put things into perspective, I mean we all know we don't have a load of cash to throw around, but from what I have seen this window looks fairly promising, think about what's going on.

Outgoings - All the Fellaini talk has gone quiet, which is a good sign, I think he's going to stay with us, then more importantly Baines, he's staying, we've told 'him' to do one and leave us alone, on the outgoings front Everton are making all the right noises.

Incomings - If you look at what we may potentially be signing, and not the stupid rumours like Hooper and Wanyama with no base, the real rumours, then we can be excited.

Possibly. Robles, Alcaraz, Honda, Deulofeu and Kone probably for around 11 million for the lot, these are strong possibilities, and if we kept our squad plus these lot then Everton will only progress and get better.

I am personally delighted with our business and our conduct so far, there's a long way left and there will be some good players coming through our doors this summer.

i will back him as he is now an everton player but i'm still gutted that the one summer we finally have some money we buy a guy who is nearly 30 and has 104 goals in 304 games for 6.5 million, what happened to bringing the squad age down and adding quality? one season of being wigans only striker and scoringa few goals does not make you a decent striker, jelavic and anichebe will be chuckling to themselves at training tomorrow, he does not add competition in anyway as jelavic when fit and not told to try emulate mo farah on the wing but just play as a striker is 5 times as good as kone and anichebe is the same player just younger, really makes no sense this signing what so ever

In terms of incoming players in these next few tense weeks, I think so much depends on the Fellaini situation. If he is to go, then Martini will want it to be be done and dusted quickly so he can use the money well. His targests will no doubt be adjusted upwards if Fellaini goes and a decent amount of money is available. if he stays for a while longer, then maybe the additions will be in the bargain category rather than a stand-out purchase.

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo wouldn't get rid of Jelavic mate, I'm anxious to see how he will do now we're paying a diffeent game to lumping it up towads Felliani almost like a target man. I'm convinced there was no coincidence between Felli going AM and Jelavic goals drying up. Our tactics stifled him and he lost his confidence big time. One more season fo me is an absolute must. The lad has shown he can scoe goals, you don't jut stop overnight unless there I a piece to the puzzle missing.

I can't believe everyone is moaning about kone, give the lad a chance, he has signed a three year deal now and if he can score the same amount of goals as last season (13 goals) for the next three seasons then that will do me fine. He might even bag a few more with our team playing behind him.

Considering most of his goals come from inside the box I bet he will love getting the deliveries from Baines and Coleman

You will never make top 4 if your main striker only scores 13 goals a season to be honest you will struggle to qualify for Europe at all but that said Kone won't make the squad weaker so welcome to the blues

Would like a real quality signing to show intent of moving forward and trying to win something not just trying to stay in the prem

welcome kone. not my first choice for a new striker in at efc but hopefully he will prove some of us wrong, bang in goals and happy days. I for one will give him the same support I give every player wearing blue. if they give 100%, then I will support them 100%. coyb first signing done

Hoping he's vic's replacement and we'll be getting another striker in who is quicker and younger and a bit more prolific ( i'd don't know who though). then hopefully kone and jelavic are back up or used as one of the 2 up front

I second that, welcome kone to this fabulous club, hopefully hit the ground running and score some important goals for us this season. Well done Roberto on signing a player this early in the window, at least he doesn't leave it till last minute like moyes did.

Good signing, think he has a bit more to his game than Vic. Good all-round player, quick, good link up play and can finish. Not the most prolific but will be a good foil for Jelavic if they play together. A front 3 with Mirallas, Jelly and Kone looks promising on paper and should get us maybe 30 goals between them.

Kone confirmed. I personally think he's a bargain and will give us something extra. Delfeou, Alcaraz & honda/fer and I'm a happy happy BLUE.

I don't think RM is doing anything wrong in looking at Wigan players. granted they did go down but the players he is looking at are good players and would get into most premier league sides. one for each department GK Robles DF Alcaraz MF Mcarthy ST Kone. all four players would strengthen our squad providing we keep our current players and would be within our budget. If money is available to Martinez like Bill said there would be and he's only supposed to be payin £5m for Kone and Alcaraz on a free why is it taking so long? Infact why do all our signings take so long? Every other team seem to be able to conduct their business so much quicker than us. Bluenose Will

How good are Southampton, Norwich and Swansea being transfer wise getting deals done early and there very good deals. Both teams being ambitious getting good players for a good price

We've already got a team of good or top players and are operating at close to our wages ceiling - they've got much lower quality players and hence wages and so have more 'headroom' to buy one or two decent players when they get some premiership income etc.
