Pakistani Blue {Ed025'sNote - i expect moyes to stay mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable7

Laudrup, Di Matteo, Clarke, De Boer, Di Canio, Poyet, Zola. Rob Walker {Ed025's Note - good list that rob..

Agree0 Disagree0

Roberto Di Matteo available and proven manager who has tactical know how (remember him outwitting Guadiola in CL final) who's teams play attractive football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anybody who plays good attractive attacking football and does not bottle it in the big and not so big games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Solskjaer, Billic, Blanc. Rob Walker

Agree0 Disagree0

Laudrup, Di Matteo, Clarke, Hughton, McClaren.

When exactly did Matteo outwit Guardiola in the CL Final?

Good names Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Always liked Martin Jol, did well at Spuds and done well in Holland. I`ll throw another name in the frame, a manager who has improved a side immensely over the last 3/4 years. Terry Butcher.

Marcelo Bielsa please

Di Matteo outwit Guardiola in the CL Final in parking the bus

Agree0 Disagree0

When Chelsea beat Barcelona in last season's CL final.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe he must have meant he 'outwitted' Guardiola in the semi's? And he didn't exactly outwit him, he merely parked the bus and got lucky. He didn't exactly set the world on fire at West Brom with a budget similar to ours did he? He had a ready made team at chelski so he's hardly proven. Would be a backwards step, IMHO

Agree0 Disagree0

Tactics are all about assessing your teams strengths and weaknesses against the opposition and deciding how best to select the team formation to win the game.
If on occasions that means 'parking the bus' then so be it. Barcelona were the opposition.
Remember there's no pictures on the CL trophy only winners names.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stuart McCall?? {Ed025's Note - not on your nellie!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Is everybody really forgetting who Chelsea played in the CL Final last year?

aflm78

Agree0 Disagree0

Jose Mourinho

Agree0 Disagree0

No aflm, they played Bayern Munchen in the final and Guardiola's Barca in the semi's as I pointed out above. And he hardly outwitted him, he merely parked the proverbial Double Decker bus and hoped for the best.

Haven't posted on the site in ages but I thought I'd give my views.

Thought that beating Oldham was a cracking result because let's face it, a team in League one is always going to be up for it when they're visiting one of the best teams in the Prem. Very classy performance and it done the job. Bring on Wigan!

It's not hard to see that our League form has dipped over the last month and the only people who can change that is the players, BUT that doesn't mean we fans can't help! We need to get behind the boys and cheer them through thick and thin. I still believe we can get 4th but we really need to make ourselves heard home and away. Our form will improve and at least we have something to play for this season.

Last word on Jela, I absolutely love the guy but for him to be worshipped at Goodison again, he really needs to start scoring again. His problem is that he's trying too hard to get the ball and coming out to the wings to receive it. Last season his territory was the box and all he did was baffle the defenders with his runs and create space for himself to score, this season it's different because he's become more of a team player and runs down lost causes instead of just staying where is most deadly. I hate to say it but we need the lazier Jelavic back! Anyway I'm sure he'll start scoring again soon.

Glad to be back.

I love Jella but I think Felli has stopped an awful amount of thru balls to him by chesting the ball down and bringing the midfield into the game. Last season we had Cahill flicking on balls for Jellas runs and he scored so many goals by one touch and then shooting. This season he has had to modify his game but he works the width of the penalty area and more instead of being the focal point of are attacks. Also do you think like I do that Moyes with every striker before the following season after scoring so many goals he pushes them to the right side of are attack. Like Yakubu and Johnson 2yrs later both were sold. It maybe just me but do you see the similarities with Jella being pushed wide hope the same fate doesn't befall him

have to say ed I really am impressed with coleman that lad is going to get better and better bombs forward at every chance and is starting to master the art of defending and that's not me being biased think we've got a great player in this lad! IRISH BLUE {Ed013's Note - The lad doesn't stop running, even when that ball was going out for a corner yesterday, he prevented it and sent it for a throw in where other players would have just left it}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

I have to agree it looks like he will develop into a very good defender.

Agree Coleman is getting better and with his attitude will be a really top player. are left side of the pitch has been are driving force, got a feeling are right side will be the same for the remainder of season

Agree0 Disagree0

I said a few months ago he gives 110%. His motor does not stop. Imagine teams having to lay off Baines and peanuts because Coleman and Super K are pushing it up the right side.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Seamus gives us an extra dimension on the right. Him and Miralles on one side with Baines and Peanut on the other gives us a threat on both sides, that if given their head will give an awful lot of teams a hell of a lot of trouble for the rest of the season. COYB

PsG, mancity, man u. madrid, chelsea want felliani. I think we played better without him last night we passed it around more and played better football instead of long balls up to him. and what a pass by Gibson and wicked finish by mirallas. coyb bring on wigan in the next round. ryanfromleic

Believable2 Unbelievable1

For parts of the game we did indeed pass the ball well but just after Oldham made there double substitution we reverted to the long ball game and really missed Felli. Moyes was going ape on the touchline shouting at the boys to get the ball down and pass along the ground. Once we settled down again it was much better although we did struggle at set pieces. Have to say Oldham did make us look very ordinary during parts of the game so fair play to them for giving it a real go.

Finally some aggression. On Kevin Mirallas' goal, 2 players charging into the box. Oman's goal Jelly was charging as was Mirallas. Even the Everton pressure lead to Baines' penalty kick. Do we need to sign the six foot six Lactic next year for our corner kicks?

Great game, next up Wigan

Well said mate, good to see some positivity and enthusiasm on this site. We have a great spirit in this bunch of players and I think the Oldham game is going to kickstart our season.

Without fellaini in the team we seemed to play football rather than just lumping it up field! Just need to Adoptvthat style of play when he's back {Ed025's Note - very true mate..

Believable8 Unbelievable1

We play better when we pass it around, any idea how serious the fellaini injury is ed?

Dave EFC {Ed025's Note - not yet dave..

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree the football was a lot better last night, creative rather than hit and hope! Fellaini needs to be moved back into centre midfield when fit again and allow the others to play football. I don't think he will be that missed when sold at the end of the season as long as the manager is allowed to reinvest the money into the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe it was something to do with the fact that we played an absolutely pathetic Oldham side, who didn't deserve to be on the same pitch as us.

Mike {Ed003's Note - It's the cup,of course they deserved to be on the same pitch,what a charming post....not! }

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what we were doing at the beginning of the season with Fellaini in the side then since christmas we have hit long balls more and more often each game.
Thinks it's the easiest way out in my opinion, and slightly lazy. Yes, we should use his height on occasion to take advantage but not all the time, you can see quite a lot of the time it's Jagielka and Distin who hit the ball up too him. There defenders and passing isn't there style so sometimes you can tell there taking the easy way out by smashing it 50 yards to Fellaini. Last night they didn't have that option and when we started from the back they were playing it down the line or to each other. Much better play last night but there is no reason why we can't play the same style when Fellaini is on the pitch, he actually has great feet for his size.

Hopefully this cup win can boost us in the league now, a nice comfortable win on Saturday will do us fine. Mirallas, Gibson and Distin were all class tonight.
