Going to be slightly controversial here but just offering up a proposal. Not 100% sure myself whether it is a move I'd be completely happy with. Chelsea are muted to fancy Pickford. His value as an English player has to be £60m plus, some suggesting £70m as he has 4 yrs left.

How about Batshuayi plus £30-40m coming our way (buys us another decent keeper) plus Loftus-Cheek on loan with 1st option to buy or no deal. Really don't want to lose Pickford but we gain more by sacrificing him.

GK position is not the problem and nor is batshuayi and loftus cheek the answer - we need quality defenders - other than Coleman and possibly Holgate the rest are too slow or too old.

Other than Pickford and possibly walcott / Lookman this team that played tonite will start the league in 2 weeks time - a disaster waiting to happen IMHO. the new lad played well again but with the obvious defence problems we are still lacking goals and the 2 players mentioned and no better than what we have - I am genuinley worried that if we do not pick up some points at the start of the season with a slightly easier start than last season we could be in for a long season.

The blame has too lie with Koeman and co as the amount of money spent last season was a complete waste ( pickford aside ) and we are now getting into a situation where we cannot keep spending money we don't have and honestly we do need to spend on defenders - a catch 22.

Our main asset at the moment is Pickford and possibly Lookman ( due to the purchase price ) once these are sold the squad as a whole has little sell on value - take klassen for example - lost 10mill there.

Therein lies the problem, Pavillion. We won't bring players in unless we can get rid of a few, the squad is too big and cash is being wasted on wages of players surplus to requirements. It may seem worrying but this purge needs to happen. I know that some fans don't want to hear we are in transition, yet again, but that's exactly what it is. We just need to be patient, let the board right the wrongs of last summer and see where we are in the next few windows. Not ideal but it is what it is mate.

I agree, We still haven't replaced Lukaku yet. Happy to give Tosun more time but I still don’t see him as our primary striker who will guarantee 20-25 goals per season.
Everyone keeps banging on about a left back, centre half and ball playing midfielder but what about a centre forward?
