doom merchants. looks like this is the new saying on this site for anyone who disagrees . I don't have a go at anybody on theses pages I just say what I think about the team the club the management we should all be able to say what we think without it all getting personal after over 50 years of watching football it is starting to all get a bit? No I won't start a new saying.

Well after 50yrs of watching football you should have realised by now that nothing gets fixed overnight. We all know there have been problems at the club for a while and we have all prayed for change. Well finally, that change is happening. It will take time to come to fruition fully, and there will be setbacks and disappointments along the way. If it turns out that Silva can only take us so far I have no doubt he will be replaced but as I keep saying you have to give the guy a chance. let's see where we are at Christmas/ New year and take it from there.

Ok but by Xmas or new year that will be an other year wasted because of bad advice given to the board I just hope I don't have to come back on and say told you so. And I am proven wrong . I will still be there at the game on Saturday to cheer my team on in the meantime.

We are all Everton supporters Skylark and we all hope we never have to hear you say 'I told you so' unless you have a epiphany and start saying something positive about the team

What is your answer? Who should we have appointed? Why would they be doing better? Now we have Silva for the foreseeable why can't you show him any support or constructive advice?

I live in Thailand now Skylark so won't be joining you at the game but hope it is a cracker and you come back happy with the team and the result.
Of course you are entitled to your opinions on this site. I just wish that any criticism could be constructive criticism and that people don't look for miracles overnight but appreciate where we were and where we are now.
Of course the management and the board have made mistakes, they are human, but I do think we had a good close season, both signings and moving people on, and can continue to improve this season as the team and some still un-played signings get to know the new system that the manager wants.

I believe every manager is a gamble, look at Mourhino at Man U after 2 full seasons and massive investment I also believe that 7 league games is nowhere near enough time to start judging Silva. Give him time. I think we will both be feeling better come the New Year

Enjoy the game

Skylark this is a very emotional site where we all only want one thing. improvement for EFC. Sometimes it is hard to see that things are improving. but even I accept that the quality of players that came in this last window are a great improvement on previous seasons (Lukaku and one or two others aside) . Silva still has wet ink on his contract, but look at how we are playing much more open and attacking football. That is a basis for tightening up the defence and starting to get more results. somewhat different to the Allardyce way of building a defence to then hope to sneak a winner. I know the old saying is that you should start with the defence and work outwards but look at the likes of Cardiff. we are improving the squad. Mina has not even featured yet and surely his height will be useful defensively and attacking wise? Maybe he is the one player we need to start getting results? Siggy's set pieces with a giant like Mina will suddenly have opposition defences quaking. Also Mina should help defend the set pieces that we currently look so vulverable at. Our smallish keeper weakens us at set pieces. and although Keane has improved of late, we seem very weak in this one department. I am hoping that Mina plugs an obvious gap and with Holgate along side him has the pace to have a defence somewhat like Mountfield and the Rat!

I wasn't jumping up and down when Silva was appointed but it is what it is and, as fans, we need to get behind him and his squad every time they cross the white lines. Defensively, we are not there yet and I'm not too sure how good Silva is setting up his back line. Attacking wise, we have nothing to groan about really. I agree that we should have scored more in certain games, possibly turning draws into victories, but we should all be in agreement that our attacking threat is far more potent than last season. Under Sam, we were lucky to see 4 shots on target over 4 games!
But it's a bit early to be judging Silva after a handful of games. Whether we like it or not, a new manager needs time to bed in, to get his ideas and philosophy across to the squad. These things rarely fall into place overnight so we should afford the manager both the time and respect to change and shape our team. It's perfectly ok to have an opinion on the team you support but, please, let's be realistic boys!
