What type of manager do we need why is it every time a name is mentioned someone says he won't come or he's no good or he is not are type JM AV just to mention a few what makes us so different to any other club why do people think they won't or Don't want to come.

we won't pay £180k a week for a Manager, maybe in a few years if we get success but we won't now, Wenger, Simeone, Mourinho to name a few would all want this, just money mate that's all, Mr Moshiri is not going to throw 100s of millions at us to buy success, we are going to build something.

I have to agree with you Skylark if you put the facts in front of any manager with the cash he can spend and money he is going to earn who are we to say they won't come. If you don't ask then you defo don't get. We need a man in charge with the qualities and ambition that matches its fans ambitions and that certainly isn't accepting that we are second or third best. If we want the best players then go and get the best manager and if it costs £180k per week then we have to do it as long as Moshiri is prepared to spend that kind of money. If we aren't then be prepared for another Martinez type appointment.

Couldn't put it better myself you get what you pay for its no good sacking the manager then getting another second rate one set your sights high now we have a bit of money like you say if you don't ask you don't get.

Why do fans seem to want old managers probably passed there best ie Wenger or Mourinio who does not like to bring through young talent. Man City have spent fortunes yet still struggle to get into top four.
I think we need to find a younger manager with a long term vision.

{Ed025's Note - its their ability to attract top talent thats the problem milomj, that plus the respect of the players which i believe was the downfall of gary monk at swansea, we have tried an up and coming manager though mate...his name was roberto martinez.. :)

He wasnt up and coming though Ed, can't call a Manager that just got a team relegated (Wigan) up and coming mate, is there anyone left on here that wants to keep Martinez?

{Ed025's Note - i cant think of anyone degs..maybe DM.. :)

Well I was against Martinez from day one to be honest and have unfortuntly been proved right, but I feel that a lot of managers have very false reputions, ie Pellegrini who has attracted players but under achieved in some ways the same for Martinez.
So I do understand where your coming from Ed but there is a new breed of managers out there, and we all have to start somewhere.
Remi Garde came from France with a good name, where are Villa? Allthough having said all this, Ronald Koeman I believe would be a very good choice, was not considered to be as good as Van Gahl in many circles but has proved his point.
Oh yes many years ago when Wenger went to Arsenal, who had heard of him and he did allright then as a younger man.
Picking the right man is not easy that I do know.

I know where you live Ed25, besides you know I have been an avid supporter of Martinez from day one.

{Ed025's Note - thats why i mentioned you DM..with you being his PR guy and all.. :)

If anyone would like to do the maths 180k a week over probably a 5 year deal comes to 47.8 million. That's nearly half of what Mr Moshiri has reportedly said he's willing to put in so it leaves not much for the so called marquee signings we all seem so eager to buy, unless of course the rest of the board change the habit of a lifetime and put their hands in their pockets, either that or there will be a lot more squealing when we sell a couple of our better players.

I would think with the investment and Everton's history of giving a manager time, coupled with the size and nature of what Everton is all about, we would be a very attractive proposition for a lot of managers out there.
The issue is theses days so many promising managers have had so much bad experience at other clubs they can be deemed as failures and unless someone is willing to take a punt on them as Leicester did with Ranierie you will never know if they still have it!

{Ed025's Note - thats a good point wakka..
