Man utd fan posting in peace. Prior to end of the window I posted here and had some great responses. I did say I thought we would sign fellaini and Baines and that if we did that I hoped your new manager got the money to spend. well he got a decent portion and I think he spent it well I like Mccarthy a lot and lukaku I also think Barry will do a great job and help some of the younger players. Well done to your club board and chairman whom I have dissed in the past you got a good price and held on to your preferred player and IMO used the money well. I have said it before I wish Everton a really good season hopefully finishing above your noisy neighbours and I understand you not retrning that sentiment. {Ed025's Note - its hard for our guys ken, we have had a cordial relationship with united, but moyes has angered supporters with his total lack of respect for our club, his joint offer for felli and baines was a joke mate..

Have always respected Manchester United and indeed my Mum (85) is a closet United fan after air crash. We don't like your 'Big Business' Manchester United mate- go back to the old days when Manchester United fans came from Manchester and we will respect a fine club as ours is. Your success is a prostitution of the game that your long gone supporters (as ours) feel/felt has nothing to to with skill, more to do with corporate profits.

I think that if a players wants to sign for you he should ask for a transfer. Baines obviously did not have the required desire to play for united, that will only change if he gets offered a new deal and refuses to sign it,, Personally I think he will sign a new deal for everton if he wanted to go to united he could have made it happen but he didn't so I respect that and move on. Shearer was the same he was happy where he was so that should be respected. IMO it shows a lack of personal ambition on his behalf but I understand its a personal decision.
ps ed I have not seen much of barkley but he looks a really exciting prospect where do you think his best position is. a mate of mine is a season ticket holder there and he says he will end up as Englands no 10 for the foreseeable future {Ed025's Note - we have high hopes for him ken, a central midfielder akin to steven gerrard (spit on the floor)mate.. :)

Thanks ed. If he turns out as good as Gerrard spit spit ;)it can only be good for Everton and England. I hope he doesn't get his head turned like rodwell sinclair moses etc who go to bigger / wealthier clubs offering champions league football when they are not yet good enough to command a regular starting position. then they get lost in the reserves while that wealthy club buys another couple of players in that position. eventually a loan and a move to obscurity having lost important years of their development. I hope you get another 5 good years from him and if then he is a superstar and Everton are not competing for top honours you can let him leave if he wants to go but as with fellaini on your terms. I would prefer him to get chams league with everton over the next 5 years.

About shearer.he wasnt happy were he was.he signed for Newcastle instead of man utd.it wasnt about playing for one of the the top teams in the world but about playing for his home town club.i think baines is the same.life long blues fan and happy were he is.without trying to diss your club ken but the chance to play for Manchester United isn't as allureing as your fans believe especially now gollum is in charge

Man Utd's 'success' has basically been born on the back of the rigged champions league format - which was all stitched up by Fergie and Wenger and their euro equivalents

great for their clubs but completely wrecked the competitiveness of the premier league - with only 2-3 teams really able to compete for the title each year

so big deal that united have 19 titles or whatever - they're not comparable with the ones won by teams in earlier decades such as nottingham forest where a brilliant manager could basically assemble a crack team without spending much and win the league and european cup

united's recent stretch of like 12 titles is really only 3 or 4 in old money - the league has been corrupted by big business and unfoair stitched up money and just the same teams will win it now for the next 100 years - thanks very much fergie and wenger - not!

Hi Ken
I was just wondering exactly how does not joining united show "a lack of personal ambition" from Baines.

you don't know his reasons and neither do I to be honest but here are some options

1 As Everton have been pushing for European competition for some seasons now perhaps Baines would rather earn it than have it handed to him and take the easy road to CL.

2 His desire may also be to cement himself as the no1 LB for England and he may feel the new style at Everton would better assist him in achieving this given he knows what Moyes is like.

3 He loves Everton and is happy here, there is something to be said for loyalty in today's football world. Your mob always carry on about Giggs being loyal to you and how great he is . so why shouldn't players at other clubs get the same respect for their loyalty. (NOT EVERY PLAYER IS A MERCENARY)

4 He makes a very good living at Everton and that's enough. Its not always about money life is more than that.

Ken seems a decent guy but I'm afraid I have always detested Utd. The ultimate beneficiaries of a flawed champions league format. Had they enjoyed their dominance in the 70s/80s they would have been nowhere near as well of. They had a manager who bullied premier league officials for 20 years and got away with it. They we're an utter failure in the champions league. Other than two complete flukes, one which relied on 2 90th minute corners and the others on a John terry miss. I have never liked their 'style' of football. It basically translates to keeping it tight until the 10 minutes injury time in front of 75,000 fans where they would again spawn a goal to give them the points they need. Arsenal were much more worthy champions in my opinion.
