Not sure if Jags is off but RK's comments today about Williams being, 'A born Leader' might suggest he is.

01 Jul 2016 18:41:31
Just been talking to a bar code who reckons rumours are Tim Cruel.
Don't shoot the messenger!

1.) 01 Jul 2016 19:08:13
Krul Mush ha ha, not cruel mate

Ifhe comes then RK must see something in him so i'm happy.

2.) 01 Jul 2016 20:38:12
I prefer he Queens English sir!

3.) 01 Jul 2016 20:45:33
Heard bad things about him from a few Geordie mates and barring in mind RoKo seems to love Stekelenberg, I'm not sure I trust his judgement on goalkeepers.

09 Jun 2016 08:47:54
Being linked with Neto again.
Surely with the money we've now got we could push boat out and get Waitrose!

1.) 09 Jun 2016 09:14:09
Liverpool used to have aldi though he done ok.

2.) 09 Jun 2016 13:51:05
Media are bricking themselves of Everton, no more a selling club, no more darlings getting our players on the cheap, god help them when we start buying big and sort the new ground out, wonder who will be the next whipping boys for the media.

Neville who?
Robles keeping us in it, defence at times is shambolic, with the
emphasis on bolic.

01 Feb 2017 01:35:40
Well I'm all in favour of getting rid od 'Dead Wood' but if I was a seal I'd call it a cull!

1.) 01 Feb 2017 04:15:54
Be a bit more respectful to our Everton players please

2.) 01 Feb 2017 10:11:13
Uran. Mushy is only saying it as he and others see it. We have got rid of a lot of players who won't play for us again. it's called dead wood.

3.) 01 Feb 2017 11:35:02
I am with Uran on this. We pride ourselves on being a real "club" and as an example I will suggest what we did with Jose Baxter and also with the little Sunderland kid makes us somewhat different to top4 plc or united corporate business teams. I understand what Mushy means of course but we should show a little respect. Players such as Barkley have had a tough time from some fans and I will quote my old point on this whereby Osman was treated terribly by some fans. a one club player who averaged 6 goals a season and never once asked for aa transfer. just did his job when asked to. Hibbert would run through nuclear powerstations never mind walls for Everton Football CLUB! So yes I agree we should all show a little respect to players who are leaving us. We should wish them well and hope they go on to have successful careers as long as they do us no damage in games. When you look at some of the mercenaries around. eg Payet and the likes. our loyal players tend to keep quiet and do their jobs. we should respect themfor that.

4.) 01 Feb 2017 12:15:26
I don't think it is being disrespectful, it's just a term used within football to describe disposable players, the ones that are not going to feature under the new manager. Nothing to get het up by really.
Degsy, on the subject of Payet, I wouldn't call him a mercenary tbh. He has rejoined an inferior league for less wages because he wants to be happy with his family. The press have twisted the story and people have jumped on the bandwagon. Now if he had joined a Chinese club then I could agree he was doing it for the cash but he actually had to pay back half a million in wages just to push through the move.

5.) 01 Feb 2017 12:57:41
Like I said. although other clubs and the media use the term "dead wood". we are Everton and I hope we use the term ex-player. I would love to see any one of you say to Big Dunc that he was no longer needed because he is dead wood. Point made?

6.) 01 Feb 2017 14:06:45
A lot of wages on players who love the treatment room. Gibson got paid about a hundred grand per minute played and contract extensions. Fair play to the lot of em, but definitely deadwood.

7.) 01 Feb 2017 19:48:38
We'll have to agree to disagree Degs, I don't think it is meant in a disrespectful way and, as I said, it's a general football term. In addition, Gibson played around 60 games in total over 4 years so, in his case, the term is more than acceptable. I'm respectful to our ex players but I have no problem using such a term.

Not EFC related but educate me!
An obstruction is an indirect free kick even in penalty area?
Spurs on MOT just got a penalty err?

1.) 29 Jan 2017 08:35:24
My thoughts exactly Mushy. But I have to add that I have not seen an indirect free kick given for obstruction for a few seasons now. I believe the rules were changed? Maybe Ed002 can throw some light on this one?

{Ed002's Note - It is now covered by the rule of impeding a player and it is an indirect free kick - I agree the whole concept seems to have drifted away.}

2.) 29 Jan 2017 11:47:53
As has holding players it would seem. The main bug for me and has been for years, is when referees book a player early in the game and then when the same player commits a much worse foul he is only cautioned and not shown a second card.

3.) 29 Jan 2017 12:43:43
Indirect free kicks in the box were quite common at all levels of the game until about 20 years ago. It is nearly always for "obstruction". The problem has been that players now deliberately obstruct, which can be seen as "reckless or excessively forceful", hence a direct free kick/ penalty

4.) 29 Jan 2017 12:45:13
So to add to that, it is the interpretation of the law the official wants to deem the "foul"

5.) 29 Jan 2017 14:33:15
The blocking and "arming" off of opposition players seemed to creep into the game from the continent. 20 years ago sliding/ hard tackles were common place with little use of the arms/ handing off. That has now gone full circle to the point some tackles seem to warrant a red card that in the past wouldbe deemed great tackles. Likewise, the use of a palm to push away a player was an instant booking. now it is not a foul if you are shielding the ball. Kids are even taught how to do this effectively now. My Son went on one of the Everton training days a few years ago and was taught how to fend off the opposition with a palm.

RIP Sir John Hurt who I've just learnt was a bluenose.

25 Jan 2017 21:55:55
Oh dear another attempt of silver ware gone, how sad, oh dear, never mind! HA!

1.) 25 Jan 2017 22:04:35
The goal was a LONG LONG time coming Saints left it late.

2.) 25 Jan 2017 22:26:01
Carragher making a good point about Liverpool not having any quality on the bench.

{Ed025's Note - i thought the padding on the seats was quality smit.. :)

3.) 25 Jan 2017 22:32:00
That's about all Ed. They can't expect to win the league with so few options. They rely on Coutinho like they did Gerrard to win them games.

{Ed025's Note - they are a decent side for me smit but they are carrying a few out there, and they miss mane big time..

4.) 25 Jan 2017 22:44:32
Going forward they are the best in the league but they can be shocking at the back.
They struggle when the front 3 don't take their chances.

{Ed025's Note - by the way...is anyone watching the programme about gary speed on sky sports 1....what a player...what a nice man..RIP speedo..

5.) 26 Jan 2017 01:31:02
Ohhh gary gary, gary gary gary super speed! RIP Gary Speed Everton legend

6.) 26 Jan 2017 18:28:07
The stats on Sky sports the other day showed the with and without Mane and they are shocking something like 70% win ratio with and just over 30% without! Although I am sure that coincided with Coutinho being out so probably linked to both.

I heard he failed interview, his plans to plant dynamite from the back up to the middle then back to the back were flawed.
Wet fuses and the proposed phenominal thunder clap bang would have ended up like a 20p sparkler.
