I don't want to be too negative (I'll leave that to degsy lol) , and obviously I don't know a) how Koeman plans to utilise the new signings and b) the availability/ money side of the transfers.

However I feel that we are being ripped off with this Witsel deal. From what I've seen of him (say about 10 games) he doesn't offer much more than McCarthy, he plays in a bang average league and if fees/ contracts being reported are correct, would consititute an absurd amount of money for a DM. If anybody has seen him more and can shed further light on his talent then I would be more than happy to listen as I do hope that he becomes a resounding success. I just feel like Schneiderlin would be a better option if available. He's a bit younger and has Premier League experience.

He must have something going for him that RK has seen otherwise we would not be over-bidding for him.

What we must take into account is that sometimes a good player is unable to play the way they are best suited for, this could be because of the managers play style or perhaps the team mates he is surrounded by can sometimes have a stifling effect. We have all seen good players move to a team and become a total flop only to move elsewhere where they show top form again.

Thats what I would say has happened to Witzel and he will become a great asset if RK plays him right.

Either that or he is crap.

I think we might all find out witsel will sign for less and be on less that the £120,000 a week being reported clubs like to add a few millon quid on to transfer fees it keeps there fans happy and when they see he wants x amount of wages they are only to happy to let them go as they see them as being greedy its a win win for both clubs we think we have smashed our transfer record and they have got rid of the bad apple both fans are happy. am i right ed.

If he does sign it will be for an undisclosed fee the proper Everton way so we will never know.

Looked very good in the Euro's, much more expansive than McArthy, has defensive steel with blocks and interceptions with significantly more attaching threat. Overpriced? Almost certainly but an excellent player and also a statement of intent!

Good replies lads and of course you could both be right and he could do well. I really hope he does, and he will get my support regardless, as does anyone who plays for the club I love.

Got to agree Tommy. I've always rated him based off his reputation and Fifa rating, but never been overly impressed by him when I've actually watched him. That said, he does seem like a DM who is far more technically capable than most, and with McCarthy next to him making up for the fact that he's not the greatest defender, they could for a good team!

At the end of the day we've got to remember this is Everton, though, so we'll probably not even get him in the end!
