Just a couple of snippets from an agent I know, he's mentioned that we've made tentative enquiries about.
Troy Deeney at Watford is on the radar, although I understand Sammy Ameobi is our more serious target.
Don't know a great deal about Deeney but I'd take Ameobi, he's looked a real talent when I've seen him, Newcastle have high hopes for him but apparently he wants regular PL football sooner than they can offer it to him, which is why the move is possible apparently.
{Ed025's Note - but if he cant get in the magpie side gunble, i doubt very much he would be a regular for us mate..

Maybe not while Lukaku is here but we will need someone next season, also Lukaku will need a break at some stage and Jelavic may be on his way this month.

Have a mate that works for the backroom staff at West Ham and he confirms the Jelavic/Noble link with us.
He's also mentioned that we could be on for a short term loan deal for Carlton Cole (effectively emergency cover).

I can only pass on what I hear guys, this fella has proved fairly reliable in the past but he could well be winding me up about the Cole bit. Either way Noble for Jelly is a superb bit of business.
8.) Apart from cole been absolute tosh he is also West Hams only fit striker so I doubt Big Sam is stupid enough to let him go even if they do take jelly off our hands.

i really don't understand, if this is true, why people seem so happy with us signing Mark Noble? we ought to be signing better players (who are also younger and offer more promise) than him. If Martinez wants to pick up a dritty midfielder there are far more of better quality than Noble. we could be on our way for a record breaking season this year, we need to add to the squad accordingly with a few gems so we can push on!

Baines is going nowhere, we are expecting further bids for him but he won't be sold this transfer window.
McGeady is pretty much a done deal, just the finer details of the contract to finalise.
Heitinga deal is done and dusted as I think everyone is now aware, good wage to get off the books.
Still looking at moving Jelavic on, again a deal with West Ham is most likely. The Liege lad and the Finnish guy in the Dutch league are top targets and aren't dependant on Jelavic moving.
