Rolandos agent on Merseyside for talks regarding 8mil move. Various media outlets covering this.
So he couldn't be joining the darkside rather than us?
They mention us specifically Sid.

Could be lazy journalism but reports of Rolando's agent is on Mersyside speaking to us about signing him. And Shawcross. ( not sure about that one) but if true and he signs, he could be a good signing.
31 Aug 2014 22:50:54
Rolando? As in portos rolando? Jesus christ, he makes gary caldwell look like maldini, martinez out if true
Maldini's father is still a better player than him, let alone his son ;-)
I know he's not exactly a Martinez style defender but guess what shawcross can actually do? Defend! I'd be much happier with him
Im not sure on either of em to be honest, its just what I read. i'm going to not even look on any sites until after 11pm tomorrow, then I'll either be pleasently suprised or gutted with any signings(if any) made.

My mate used to be in the Everton youth ranks. Kept in touch with a few youth team admins. Shawcross is done for £8 million. Medical tomorrow.
31 Aug 2014 22:23:04
Not being funny lad, if he hasn't had a medical, it's far from 'done'
Hmmm.
If it's true, then it's an interesting choice of player by Roberto Martinez. Ryan Shawcross seems more of a David Moyes type of player.
Also, the supposed fee of £8 millions seems way lower than what Stoke City would demand for him - is the player near the end of his current contract?
No he got three years left i'd be happy with him rolondo and holtby
31 Aug 2014 23:46:40
You can keep Holtby, big Evertonion, till it came to money, then suddenly, Spur were his first choice.
31 Aug 2014 21:29:58
Hearing Shawcross for 8million.
31 Aug 2014 21:56:50
Woeful
31 Aug 2014 21:59:51
Is he really a Roberto Martinez type of centre back?
Why would Stoke City let him go?
Surely they'd want much more than £8 million for his transfer?
Why would we go for him when we have Stones? We also have Browning and Galloway coming through.
Stranger things have happened - like the signing of Eto'o - but going for Shawcross seems even more improbable imho.

national radio station saying Ryan shawcross will have a medical at everton Tommorow
One of the ever-reliable ;-) radio stations, no doubt!
Heard same thing but as I always say to posters on our site don't put faith in any rumours you hear on social media as gospel. In saying that Shawcoss is not the greatest centre half in the world but he's a no nonsense take no prisoners type which I think we need as yesterday proved its ok having ball playing centre halves but we do need a bit of steel to compliment that.
31 Aug 2014 19:41:15
Recently signed a new deal I think, but heard a whisper about Curtis Davies being linked £8M? Lads?
31 Aug 2014 20:33:32
I'd take him for that in a heartbeat
{Ed003's Note - Shawcross is the name doing the rounds now (speculation).}
Rumour going round is shawcross? Unsure myself
We need a new centre back so if the monies right please let it happen
The chelsea result highlights that we need a cb--not sure curtis is better then we already have.jags looked very poor at the world cup and very poor in the games so poor.optimism for the seaon is quickly draining.the team doesny look fit and this must be as a result of a porrly organised pre season
Shawcross being linked for the same amount according to talk radio
Is he really the type of centre back to fit into RM's playing style? Or maybe RM just needs an 'old fashioned' centre back to man-up in defence until such time as our younger ball-playing centre backs (Stones, Browning and Galloway) are ready for regular first-team football.

Strong rumours this morning linking us with a loan for Lewis Holtby. Would much rather loan Kagawa if possible - great competition for Mirallas and Peanut. With Besic and Gibson as cover already, do we need Holtby? He'd be a squad player at Everton as he is at Spurs. Another CB needed too on the strength of yesterdays display - someone with a bit more energy! Micah Richards?
31 Aug 2014 13:07:52
Kagawa is off back to Dortmund and isn't a winger. Number 10 role.
I reckon a centre half is a must now! Jags doesn't look fit to me . Distin getting on a bit and stones a bit raw yet . Oh ye and Alcaraz rubbish! Micah Richards is a good shout!
Please no more links to average midfielders . Please bk stump up some more cash for a quality centre half we seen to have forgotten how to defend
Its not a strong rumour mate its just paper talk or lazy journalisim as its better known as. One paper reported "there also could be interest from Everton" that's all it said.We are overloaded in midfield as it is so another midfield player is not a priority and especially one who can't get regular first team football imo. We should be looking to strengthen in the centre half department for me.
Holtby rumour has been reported in more than one newspaper but is probably just paper talk as we don't need him. Have seen Kagawa play on the left many times and looked a top player before coming to Man U - scored bags of goals in Germany. I agree though - CB should be a priority.
We simply do not need a player like Holtby. We have sufficent cover in midfield a dominatnt CB is what is required now.Jags looks completed drained after the world cup
Unless we desperately need cover in midfield areas because of the injuries to Barkley, Pienaar, etc., I just don't see the need for us to be spending what little money we have on someone like Holtby - even on loan - but, as always, I defer to RM's judgement.
I agree with many other posters that we urgently need adequate cover (replacements) for Jagielka and Distin in the squad. We have Stones, but he's still learning; we have Alcaraz, but he just hasn't been convincing; and we have the potential of Browning and Galloway, but imho they're just not ready yet for regular first-team football.
