Lots of rumours flying about this morning about Wijnaldum from PSV. Fits the bill for me. 40 goals in 109 apps for PSV in an attacking midfield role. Only 24 years old. Noise is he's available at a price - if we have the cash, I can't see why we wouldn't be in for him. Sticking point could be Newcastle being prepared to offer more in wages than us. Thoughts Ed?

jblue79

{Ed025's Note - i dont know a lot about him J, but his record is pretty impressive so why not mate..

.looks a real good player jblue79. played really well for the Dutch at the last World Cup too.

2.) 08 Jul 2015 20:11:18
Apparently in advance talks with Newcastle, looks like another dud rumour or we are not as appealing as Newcastle.
So, Stoke, West ham and now Newcastle. bit worried

3.) 08 Jul 2015 20:26:22
Hi lads wijnaldum is a quality player and would give us a real goal threat from midfield but Newcastle officials have flown out Holland to try and push through a deal we always seem to be reacting to other teams making bids instead of us making the first move come efc board wake the hell up and be a bit more pro active in the transfer market

4.) 08 Jul 2015 20:56:43
I don't understand why people are so worried about who Stoke, West Ham and Newcastle are signing. I think on the most part it's lazy journalism linking us to all these players. My guess is we either didn't ever want these players or just didn't think the players were worth that much. I'm hoping that we are looking at other signings as opposed to 'missing out' on these players.

Also, I think all of the players hinted at above are players who had world class potential as youngsters and things haven't worked out for them, so would represent some risk.

5.) 08 Jul 2015 21:16:21
According to Newcastle chronicle they made a bid of just under 20 mil euros which is about 16 mil pounds he is good but not worth that amount of money prefer us to spend big on number 10 or another striker

Strong rumours this morning linking us with a loan for Lewis Holtby. Would much rather loan Kagawa if possible - great competition for Mirallas and Peanut. With Besic and Gibson as cover already, do we need Holtby? He'd be a squad player at Everton as he is at Spurs. Another CB needed too on the strength of yesterdays display - someone with a bit more energy! Micah Richards?

jblue79

1.) 31 Aug 2014 13:07:52
Kagawa is off back to Dortmund and isn't a winger. Number 10 role.

2.) I reckon a centre half is a must now! Jags doesn't look fit to me . Distin getting on a bit and stones a bit raw yet . Oh ye and Alcaraz rubbish! Micah Richards is a good shout!

3.) Please no more links to average midfielders . Please bk stump up some more cash for a quality centre half we seen to have forgotten how to defend

4.) Its not a strong rumour mate its just paper talk or lazy journalisim as its better known as. One paper reported "there also could be interest from Everton" that's all it said.We are overloaded in midfield as it is so another midfield player is not a priority and especially one who can't get regular first team football imo. We should be looking to strengthen in the centre half department for me.

5.) Holtby rumour has been reported in more than one newspaper but is probably just paper talk as we don't need him. Have seen Kagawa play on the left many times and looked a top player before coming to Man U - scored bags of goals in Germany. I agree though - CB should be a priority.

6.) We simply do not need a player like Holtby. We have sufficent cover in midfield a dominatnt CB is what is required now.Jags looks completed drained after the world cup

7.) Unless we desperately need cover in midfield areas because of the injuries to Barkley, Pienaar, etc., I just don't see the need for us to be spending what little money we have on someone like Holtby - even on loan - but, as always, I defer to RM's judgement.
I agree with many other posters that we urgently need adequate cover (replacements) for Jagielka and Distin in the squad. We have Stones, but he's still learning; we have Alcaraz, but he just hasn't been convincing; and we have the potential of Browning and Galloway, but imho they're just not ready yet for regular first-team football.

French press are reporting an interest from Everton in 21 year old Nime striker Anthony Koura.

jblue79

1.) I'm sure we scout many players, which I guess qualifies as "interest", but that doesn't mean we're considering taking it any further let alone actually making a bid.

11 Jul 2014 13:40:07
Martinez has confirmed that talks are ongoing to bring Traore back on loan. Also, the president of Elche has denied that there's been any contact at all from Everton - that usually means he'll be signed up by lunch time tomorrow.

Deals for Cerci and Tadic look to be off now. Athletico Madrid and Southampton moving in.
Cleverly rumours gathering pace - RM is definitely interested and if he can get him playing like he did at Wigan - he'd be a good addition at a reasonable price.

jblue79

1.) Most overrated player in the prem is cleverley, wouldn't pay 5 pence for him, we are much much better than him

Few rumours doing the rounds this morning.
Several sources reporting a fee for Mori has been agreed with River Plate - just hit in the Argentina squad - bargain at 5.5 mill. Good business if we can tie it up.
Still some reports about that we're close to tying up a deal for Song from Barce. At first I thought we don't need him - but if Gibbo is off and one of our central 3 gets injured - what a great player to have in the squad - comfortable in an attacking or defensive role.
A few murmurs that Chelsea might throw Moses into the deal to get Stones - we'll take Yarmalenko instead please! Keep Stones - buy Mori, Song and Yarm for 25 mill and we'll be set for a solid season! COYB!

jblue79

{Ed025's Note - sounds good to me JB..

1.) 19 Aug 2015 10:45:36
Always concerned about defenders from Argentina and country's like that defending in those league is one thing but premier league is different kettle of fish even European defenders struggle, but won't judge till we see, please don't leave business to last 24 hours deadline day don't mind a loan signing but want defender and no 10 role sorted asap tough period coming up if we can come out of this next 6 or 7 matches with decent point tally this could be massive for our season not only points on board but the confidence it will bring will be huge

2.) 19 Aug 2015 13:05:24
Well it loos like Citeh are about to spend 30 million on one so they can't all be bad. let's hope he works out. COYB Big week for us on and off the pitch, let's hope we're all still smiling at the end of it!

3.) 19 Aug 2015 13:29:17
They've bought more unsuccessful players than successful ones over last 5 years

Mason Holgate completes medical.
One for the future and very well thought of.
Ofcourse we need first team quality - but still good to be looking for the next Stonesy no?

More reports in the Turkish press that Raul Meireles is on his way to us. Forget the fact that we have a well stocked centre mid (McCarthy, Barry, Besic, Ossie, Gibson, Barkley.) was he actually any good? Average at best for me. Throw in the fact that he's a red and it's just tabloid trash. Isn't it?
If we are going for another player in the middle, must be smeone with flair, a goal, an eye for a pass, something!

Demba Ba's agent reckons we'd agreed terms with him but Besiktas came in at the last minute. He also said that 'the financial details played a large part'. Money talks boys. Eremenko being mentioned now too. Has looked decent when I've seen him.

jblue79

1.) Most likely we were only prepared to pay what we thought he was worth!certainly not disappointed we didn't get him!

2.) Pleased that we know what a player is worth and we won't get involved in silly contracts, one door closes a better one opens, has been the case although frustrating for 20 years .

A few rumours doing the rounds about us being interested in Christoph Kramer - he's the lad who was taken off in the World Cup Final not knowing who or where he was. Another defensice midfielder on the radar is Adrien Tameze. Young French lad. At this rate - we'll be playing a new formation with 4 or 5 holding midfielders. The papers are putting 2 and 2 together and making 0. No chance of Stones or Barkley leaving unless the money is astronomic. No panic yet - but would be nice to see a bit of action having seen the business being done elsewhere.

jblue79

{Ed025's Note - I'm with you jb,..

1.) Adrian not attacking mc. Isn't JB.?

Press are openly reporting a 15% sell on fee but still a fair chunk. Even without it, Stones is worth whatever we're prepared to sell him for. Failing that they can do one.
If he's going, sooner rather than later would be good so we have time to invest. We should be giving them a deadline beyond which we wouldn't accept any offer at all

jblue79

{Ed025's Note - we have said "not for sale" JB, now big head said that if everton said he was not for sale he would back off..a man of his word?..i beg to differ..

It's possible - he's certainly of the quality that we need. Just as likely that it's lazy journalism though boys. The press know we're after a CB, a number 10 and a striker and so all available players will be linked. Robbie will have top targets he's going for and they could well be names that haven't been mentioned yet.

Hmmm. one for the future maybe, but I'm not sure that 'excited' covers it SydneyMAC.
All the teams around us are strengthening.
We finished 11th last term.
Our top talents are all subject to bids from other clubs.
We need a few bigger and better signings then Gibson - although I'd welcome him from what I've seen.

Dik Van Dijk would be preferable to Evans. Just can't see us paying that for a bench warmer.

Totally agree wakka, should be a quality not quantity transfer window. We've got plenty of mediocre players hanging about the place and some good youngsters who could make up the numbers if needs be. A match winner, whether that's a striker or a playmaker, should be top of the list.
