An agent of a first team player has apparently told a leading national journo (and Evertonian) that EFC players not convinced by Martinez and that if he is confirmed it will see several (Fellaini, Baines, Jelavic, Mirallas) push for an exit. Mirallas shares an agent with Vitor Pereira and his agent will usher him to the door if Pereira not appointed. The others were waiting to see who replaced Moyes but were already considering moving on. All the usual caveats apply as this is second hand (the journo is a personal friend) but it is worrying, even if only that an agent is trying to plant this type of story in the media.

1.) Funny how Distin said Baines really likes Martinez

TC

2.) This is something that we should all be concerned by, how do get motivated by a manager that has just been relegated! its a joke. total joke

3.) Wooly66: name the player, the agent, and the jouno if you dare!
RhinoSoreAss

4.) Mischief making rubbish IMO.

stewillow

5.) If that true then 60 mill would be a decent figure to try and get. Wouldn't be the end of EFC. could get Fer. Negrado. Atsu etc got oviedo and bidwell for LB. can't see it happening tho. Still pray that we get Honda. Watched him on youtube and he a quality player and his free kicks are immense

6.) Jealous koppites maybe or just more rubbish. get over it we finished above you again.

7.) Its true wouldn't be the end but just gets to me the whole hype around Martinez. a fotunate FA Cup win aside what has he actually achieved? If we're looking at relegated managers let's get 'arry in? or that fella who always looked scared and was caretaker manager at Wolves?. bless him wernt his fault. which is probably what Martinez will be saying when he gets sacked by Christmas. we are in trouble if we take him

8.) What is it with all of this doom and gloom. who was DM before he came to everton? no-one. He was incharge of a team going nowhere. yet we won't accept internal staff, we won't accept Rafa, we won't accept RM. we just want some guy (VP) that a lot of us (me included TBH) had never heard of before. and only the more astute blue noses had heard of. Then before we have even appointed a manager there are rumours about who is departing. despite the fact that Baines apparently likes RM (whether or not he becomes manager), Jagielka has unresevedly declared he wants to stay, ozzie (a great servant imho) has signed a new contract. yet more doom and gloom. I understand its a banter / rumour site but some of thsi stuff just infuriates me. since when did we believe every rumour in a paper or otherwise that was on here. these lads finished 6th anyoneowith common will wait and see who the guy is and how he impresses them before spouting their mouth. Also why would any player come to a club thinking that the manager will ALWAYS be there? they wouldnt. Sorry I don't believe any of this. I need a pint!jlaff {Ed025's Note - get me a lager jlaff..

9.) Journo works for a left-leaning national daily; the agent does not represent the players named. As I said, usual caveats but expect to see articles questioning Martinez' suitability tomorrow and Thursday

10.) Least he wasnt sacked by Reading, its all the usual s*** people make up for attention.

Fellaini - 24mil

Baines - 18 to 24mil

Mirallas - 20mil

Jelavic - 10mil

Naismith - Pack of smarties and a twix

its all lies, all under contract and only one with a buy out clause which davey the sellout put in place.

11.) Just goes to show not all scousers are a comedy genius. I mean c'mon, 'Wooly' '66', are you trying to tickle our ribs by suggesting all Evertonians are woolybacks, are you Jimmy Tarbuck? Scouse humour eh? More like Norwegian.

12.) Hey that's a bit harsh on Naismith,, wed get a back of crisps has well {Ed025's Note - dont bank on it.. :)

13.) All I am saying is we do know what RM has done, he isn't unheard of jlaff. he got relegated and battled it every season for the last 3 or 4 years! At the end of the day its out of our hands. and who knows maybe he is the only one we can get but would rather have seen Ole Gunnar, or VP or Bilic or even dare I say it Lennon! At least he has acheived things, been in ECL etc. Well back to the mental let's have it days of the ninties here we come, its been a great 11 years. let's go mental again. and get plenty of lagers in jlaff!

14.) 'A left leaning national daily'
Unless you're talking about The Morning Star, they're aren't any, and I don't think they're really big on footie anyway.

15.) What a load of tosh.

16.) I've had the lagers and I'm calm again:-) jlaff

17.) Just a comment regarding Moyes before he came to EFC - yes he was only at Preston but they had been punching well above their weight for at least 2 seasons and he nearly got a team laden with debt into the Premier League so he wasnt a 'nobody', he had shown enormous potential for getting the best out of a group of players and that is exactly what we need again!

IMO if we are going for a manager from within the English League, would like us to move for someone of the same ilk (Eddie Howe perhaps) with experienced staff surrounding him - Pip, Stubbs etc

18.) Mirallas is here to stay, read on a French website saying that he will stay, why would he leave?

19.) 29 May 2013 12:26:19
Here is the page about Kevin Mirallas, helps if you can read French, if not, google translate

There is a lot of press and twitter noise but it is just that.

EFC will draw up a shortlist methodically over the next week or so, taking soundings within the club (including Moyes), from fans and from trusted external parties on potential candidates and characteristics.

One critical factor will be the desire to maintain continuity in the analytics, sports science/medical, u-21, u-18 and academy lstructures and build on what Moyes has done, not start again. Any incoming manager may be limited in the staff they can bring in, perhaps just an assistant/first team coaches.

Interviews will be arranged starting after the season ends. There is unlikely to be a "shortlist of one".

If things go smoothly a manager will be in place by the end of the month at the latest well in time.

This will not be a rush job and nor should it be. I am sure some of the names being touted will be getting discussed. Some may make the shortlist. One might even get the job. but not because the media are promoting A or B and certainly not because some bookie on the make sees a chance to create a market and drag in money from the gullible.

A decent ITK on another site suggests Newcastle are in for Jelavic which could mean one of the Matri/Hosiner rumours may be true

Would free up Mirallas to play centrally as 2nd striker and provides better depth than Naismith?

Martinez' teams are good going forward but horribly disorganised defensively. He's cheap and wouldn't demand a big budget and that will appeal to Billy NoPennies but he's not of a standard to move us forward from here. He's probably not good enough to maintain our current level. A definite, thanks but no thanks from me.

We have no money. Simple as that. Have to sell to buy. Can't shift Jonny. Fellaini and/or Baines will go when Utd stump up enough cash but may be too late for us to spend well.

I think the odds must be strong that we will sign Joel Robles who he had on loan at Wigan last season and who is surplus at At. Madrid

Yes I did and got a fair amount of abuse but there you go. Baines is open to joining Moyes but happy to stay otherwise. Mirallas' agent is also Pereira and he is trying to get him the job at Malaga. If so you can guess who he will target and Mirallas' dad IS Spanish. Jags is happy to stay but Mourinho is a big fan. The only question with Fellaini is Arsenal or Chelsea. Martinez is a decent coach and may be good in a couple of years but he isn't the stature or the experience to convince our top players that we will improve this season or probably next. Jelavic is unsettled anyway and needs reasuring. Unless he can make a major signing fast this won't change. The loss of most of the coaching staff including Weir and Neville (very likely) also unsettles the team. It isn't that they dislike Martinez or are disloyal but careers are short. The source is a good one. I think we'll lose 3 and keep 2 of these 5, with the question for me being which side of the line Baines and Mirallas land. It isn't "fact" and things can change. If Martinez can act quickly next week and land 2 good players that might mean we keep 3 or even 4. but he doesn't have a honeymoon period with the senior players.

Martinez bought that defence. He coached that team. The buck stops with him.

One correction to original poster. Attendance was up 3k per game on last year but that is only worth c. £1m assuming a mix of adult, junior etc. TV revenue is also up as we had more tv appearances. Wage bill should have been flat as we were very careful with the squad. However the general point that maybe, in a good year, we break even before transfers still holds. The money for summer transfers will come from the new tv deal (and player sales) not because we did well in 2012/13 financially.
