Do you reckon Moyes is off mate? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Guessing Martinez is the favourite to take over? {Ed025's Note - if moyes goes....he will certainly be a front runner..

Agree0 Disagree0

Where do you think Moyes will go? Man united, Chelsea, schalke? {Ed025's Note - nowhere, i hope..

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't any of them to be honest.
He's too negative for United and Chelsea. Look at Sunday at an field not to win but not to lose. I'm ready for a change as long as its not Mark Hughes {Ed025's Note - i never thought he would go there, but if he does it will be as fergies puppet, i thought he was bigger than that..

hey people what do you think of angel rangel, might get some stick for this post but he has always worked well and performed his best at swansea

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would you get stuck Boyd? I think he's quality.

Toffee ace

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's a half decent player to be honest but I don't think he's any better than Coleman. I'd take him for 1-2 mil as back up though.

U21s selection looks good tonight be nice seeing lundstrem. Barkley mcAleny stones long keenedy. All in the same team together. I expect most of theses players to be in the first team next season. What a great bunch of players I say even better than Manchester United youth in the early 90s

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 May 2013 21:55:13
Sorry mate but only barkley will be in the team next season as long won't be for another 5 years mcaleny and lundstram are leaving in the summer and kennedy is quite bad

Agree0 Disagree0

Kennedy is quite bad? How many U-21 games have you been to this season? I've been to 5 and Kennedy has caught my eye in at least 3 of them, particularly against Blackburn in Febraury. I think the lad has quite a bright future, that's just my opinion though.

sunderland fan here lads just a question if everton get into the Europa league do you think that will be a good thing or a bad thing do you think your squad is big enough to compete in all these games. I think you deserve European football after season you have had in the league and its every fans dream to play in Europe. coming from the north east we warned our neighbours about playing in the Europa league with a small squad which is now coming back to haunt them and like pardew the clown has said Newcastle are in a different league to everton LoL they have a good chance of playing in championship next season. anyway lads good luck in ye last couple of games and well done for a good season. {Ed025's Note - cheers mate, the europa league does take its toll on small squads, if we do qualify, we would have to beef up our squad quite a bit IMO, but i would like a crack at it...good luck to you as well, im sure you will be fine..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I mate I myself would be worried, and I agree with ye comments

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah am not a fan of this Europa league ESP with a small squad like we have I think it would makes us struggle in the the league like Newcastle av found out the only other thing is we could giv our fringe players a run out in it (bluejack) ps gud luck 2u your team Sunderland hope they stay up don't think theyv bin that bad this season don't think they deserve 2 go down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck with the relegation fight pal, I've a strong liking for the Mackems, after serving 14 years in the forces I met many good lads from your city and had a good few nights up there, i'm sure you'll be fine tho, especially if you win at the weekend. A nice end to the season would be for your lot to stay up and for Pardew's crowd to drop, never liked that fella. Anyhow, good luck again, and hope to be playing you twice next season. FTM!

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck sunderland up the mackems

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all academic because we cannot qualify as 6th place finishers. BlueTone

Agree0 Disagree0

Europa sucks, travelling across europe to play in a ghost town in the middle of nowere for buttons in the cold, i'd hate to finish 5th even if it was possible, wouldn't sway the decsion of most players to join everton regardless as the premier has twice the prestige, plus the fact 3rd place champions league teams come in to add quality to the competion is a slap in the face {Ed025's Note - some fair points there mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really academic bluetone as its still possible for us to finish 5th long shot though I agree.

We're supposedly looking at Hoilett again. Hasn't been great since joining QPR, but who has? always look dangerous when he was playing for Blackburn though and I wouldn't mind seeing him with us.

Also, can people stop referring to transfers as 'Done deal'. I saw about 100 'Done Deals' in January, and we all saw how that turned out. I don't care if you're Bill Kenwright himself, Nothing is a done deal until they walk out onto the pitch. {Ed025's Note - thats true mate...its like when people say..FACT!...it actually means nothing..

Money from summer + TV money let's say roughly 10M

In:
Fer 7-8M
Honda pre-contract
Dragovic/Lescott 4-5M

Out:
Neville (decent wages)
Gueye 1-2M
Heitinga 3-4M

This would be great. I really don't want Fellaini to leave but I can understand that from those funds we can buy a top striker (and GK + Wing options) but I'm hoping Jelavic can find his feet again.

GK: Howard
DEF: Coleman Hibbert Jags Distin Lescott/Dragovic Baines Oviedo Duffy
CM: Fellaini Fer Osman Gibson Honda Barkley
Wide Mid: Pienaar Mirallas Oviedo Naismith
AM: Fellani Honda Barkley
ST: Jelavic Anichebe Vellios

That gives us plently of options around the pitch. apart from up from but both Jelavic and Anichebe can be great when they're at their best, they really need to lift for us to have top 4 chances.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry Ed forgot to sign off and ask you. Are there any centre forwards you know/have heard that we have any strong interest in?

AussieBlue {Ed025's Note - negredo has been mentioned a few times aussie, and we did enquire about him last window, but im not sure if we are still interested mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

I see you don't think Cornelius is a chance? From what I've heard and seen he's one that could be a quality striker {Ed025's Note - im not saying he is not a chance mate, just that i have not heard of any interest at the moment..

I note that someone has posted during the banter of who they wish to go down, lots said Newcastle, one said 'I want Newcastle to go down because they do not have a history'. The Geordies have won the FA Cup 6 times - is that not in the clubs history? Get your facts correct before posting. {Ed025's Note - i happen to like the geordies...its pardew who is a plank, not their supporters..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed025:

Pardew really is the problem we have with NUFC.

''Operating in a different league than Everton''

When I read that I immediately thought something like ' Ffs is the space ship coming back for this mug or what? '

He may yet get his wish :)

Blue247 {Ed025's Note - he is a bit of a pot herb 247, but i hope they stay up, for their supporters sake mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025:

Me too I (in the cold light of day of course) don't really relish the idea of them going down, no not at all.
It's the lesson in humility for AP that appeals to me.

Blue247 {Ed025's Note - and how he needs it mate!..

Agree0 Disagree0

I have many geordie mates and have had more than a few eventful nights down big market on the dog with them. As a few people have said the problem isn't with the fans or the club itself its with that eejit pardew who thinks he's something he isn't. I don't really have a preference as to who goes down (other than liverpool if it were possible) and genuinely feel sorry for anyone who goes through that last day of the season turmoil. Remember wimbledon and coventry anyone? They were horrible days. Good luck to all the teams in the drop zone, but someone has to go.

there are a lot of names being thrown around over who we will sign but I think we should be a little more cautious, yes we will buy some players and moyes has shown his hand about now going for bigger names (mirallas, fer, negredo) but we are not a club who does a major overhaul. I expect 2 players that cost decent money and others will be squad fillers and frees. no more than 20 million spent even if felli does leave. moyes knows its always good to keep a little money back for future windows because its difficult for bk to provide it.

Like someone else posted, if we're aiming for the Champions League, then Eagles is not the quality of player we should be recruiting. With players like him, we'd be heading to the Championship rather than the Champions League.

Moyes and the players are aiming for the champs league but what our board are aiming for is anyone's guess i'm sure its not champs league though.

weve had a right good go this season boys, went to city, spurs, arsenal, and lpool and not lost any of them, just 1 defeat at home all season but its been our performances against the lower teams that have cost us a top 4 finish, looking forward to next season, hopefully moyes will stay and add at least 3 players, coyb

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too many draws - because:
our squad clearly lacked the numbers to cope with injuries, loss of form, resting players, simple squad rotation -because:
our club lacks the finance - mainly from matchday and commercial income - to fund a bigger squad - because:
we don't have a modern stadium - because:
our board don't have the wherewithal to provide investment themselves and, let's face it, our club is hardly an attractive financial proposition as it stands. Who'd throw their own money into a project that sees almost all of the money go to greedy players and even greedier agents? Why would anyone build up a business outside football only to see any money they invest in a club used not to build a better club in its local community, but to finance the excesses of a few flash players and their avaricious agents?

But sunday

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Two refereeing scandals I can recall.
The Duncan Ferguson header against Villarreal.
Going out to Panathinaikos in the 1970-1971 European Cup.
However, there have been plenty of other refereeing shockers - especially in European competition, but also in English domestic football - where other clubs have been similarly shafted. It's not just Everton who've been hard done by - it just just seems worse because it's our club ;-)

Bryan hamiltons perfectly good goal againtst the RS in the FA semi final.

Mick Lyons header at the Park End against the reds. etc There are so many particularly against them! Gerrards 2 footed lunge into Gary Naismith' chest. Retrospective ban after tv kept showing it. Nothing on the day and no good to us. All the others as listed particularly Hansens hand ball on the line in the league cup final and Bryan Hamiltons dissallowed goal by Clive Thomas. But I am not bitter. he is known as bitter blue I believe.

Nothing to do with the Blues guys, just want to see what the general consensus is.

Who would you prefer to go down out of these because any of them could drop at the moment:

Stoke
Fulham
Southampton
Sunderland
Norwich
Newcastle
Wigan

For me it would be Stoke, dire footballing team who bring nothing to the prem except injuries

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Of the clubs listed: Newcastle United - no two ways about it. Each of the other clubs has at least one redeeming quality IMHO, but the barcodes have delusional & fickle fans, a manager who thinks he's God's gift and bullet-proof, and it's a football club that's run by some very strange individuals, and is a club that doesn't actually have the history its folklore purports to have.

I suspect there may be a bit of banter between us and Geordies within the next few hours

Agree0 Disagree0

C'mon guys i'm a newcastle fan and you can't really say we're deluded, we are a similar club to you, a similar build. I kind of agree with you on pardew, but moyes had a very good first season with you, then the next you had a crap one and almost got relegated, but now he's really built something at everton. Ask every newcastle fan and the minimum expectation they will say is top 10 and highest will be europa league. I think that's fair considering that we are quite a big club.

But its always exciting and there's always a good time when newcastle and everton meet.

But maybe pardew can build something at newcastle like moyes did, he's got an a year contract so considering he doesn't-ehm-relegate us, then yes.

I've enjoyed watching everton this season, fellaini has been brill, baines has been the best left back in the prem. Pienaar's had a decent season. Just please, don't be like liverpool fans and be all arrogant and cocky, I know you're better than them. {Ed025's Note - we are a similar club to you mate, and the fans are of a similar ilk as well, its pardew who caused the tiff between the clubs, when he said newcastle were in a different league to everton!...which you nearly are...lol...just kidding, i hope you stay up, as your supporters would be sadly missed..good luck mate..

Hi folks. reading the "I want" emails re players out and players in, it got me to thinking what do I want? Well, in the order :- 1. New Investment 2. New Stadium 3. New players - perhaps 2 or 3 4. 72 points next season 5. A new Manager - nope, like the one we have thank you.
Torontotoffeman {Ed025's Note - that would do very nicely mate..

06 May 2013 23:39:47
hey ed I gots a question. if chelsea win the fa cup and wigan go down and opt out of the europa league. where would the spot go? to the sixth place team maybe? {Ed025's Note - no mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Chelsea win Europa league they will be a spare place

Agree0 Disagree0

How many more times does this have to spelled out?!
Everton will now have to finish 5th this season in order to qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League. As Chelsea, with their current points total, will finish in the top five of the Premier League this season and qualify for Europe that way, their winning this season's UEFA Europa League will NOT give England an extra place in next season's UEFA Europa League. Even if they had finished lower than fifth this season - which can't happen now this season - and qualified for next season's UEFA Europa League as "title holders" (i. e. winners), it would still only be Swansea, Wigan (even as losing finalists since ManCity have enough points already to finish in the top five and qualify for European competition that way), and the fifth placed team who would be the other (three) English teams in next season's UEFA Europa League. This is clearly explained in the UEFA regulations and excellently summarised in a Wikipedia article.
BlueBonnet

Agree0 Disagree0

There's also the Fair Play rankings that could give another English team a place in the UEFA Europa League, but Everton aren't well placed in those rankings. The English teams that are well placed don't seem keen on taking a place if offered anyway - I imagine they're concerned about the detrimental effect of Thursday-night European football on Premier League form - and the small money that comes with UEFA Europa League participation compared to the riches of the UEFA Champions League.
BlueBonnet

Agree0 Disagree0

If chelski finish 5th and win the Europa League then it goes to 6th place according to Martin Lipton on Sunday Supplement. Highly unlikely they'll finish 5th though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here it is in black and white:
"If the UEFA Europa League title-holders are not eligible to take part in either of the UEFA club competitions (UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League) by virtue of their domestic form, the UEFA Administration may, at the request of the association of the club concerned, admit this club to the current UEFA Europa League competition. Its participation will not be at the expense of the contingent of its association. "
So, as Chelsea will qualify for European completion anyway - by finishing in the top four or at worst fifth - their winning the UEFA Europa League won't affect the fact that England will still only have three teams in the UEFA Europa League. (The route for an additional place via Fair Play rankings seems unlikely now for an English club. )
I suggest that Martin Lipton, although not the worst football journalist I can name, hasn't done his research. If I'm wrong about UEFA rules, then it's sackcloth and ashes for me ;-)

Since ed seems to think the honda deal is a possibility what would he offer us? What is he good at? I don't watch highlight videos on the internet as they make any player look good so if he was to come to everton what can he do? {Ed025's Note - the guy is known as the japanese ronaldo...enough said..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 May 2013 08:42:25
More specifically ed I mean is ge quick is he a good passer can he create space is he decent at set pieces can he cross the ball can he shoot is he skillful and can he use both feet? {Ed025's Note - i think him being likened to ronaldo answers all them questions mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Honda is probably one of the players we really lack in the squad, he is a genuine number 10 and a playmaker. Very good on the ball, excellent vision, can unlock defences with his passing, he isn't the fastest player, but certainly isn't the slowest by any means. I was worried about his ability to cope with the physicality of the Premier League, but having watched him play for Japan against Australia a couple times (Australia tend to play a more physical game than most Asian countries) and he coped really well and was probably there best player, in a team that consisted the likes of Kagawa.

I think he is an excellent player, admittedly I haven't seen a lot of him playing in Russia, but for Japan, been very good, and I have heard good things about him whenever he is mentioned. Not to mention, the fact that he is one of Japan's biggest fans certainly wouldn't hurt our off field reputation in Asia, which is certainly a big plus.

For me, he is the whole package and fills one of the voids we desperately need (another playmaker as Sunday clearly showed, the other voids for me is a striker and if Fellaini leaves a big, strong, powerful midfielder Fer or Capuoe type)

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2013 10:09:23
id rather have fer tbh he seems quicker, more powerful, a better passer and just overall more reliable because capoue gives the ball away in silly areas sometimes although capoue looks the better tackler and reads the game better and honda is probably the best free kick taker in the world (better than beckham and juninho)
