Very impressed yesterday. Lot of effort and fully committed.
If we can get Decore and Allan playing like this regularly we will be fine.
Got the quality down the left - right side is work in process

Mina is better than both Keane and Hollgate - however I feel Keane will play better alongside Mina - he did have a stinker yesterday

There will be a lot worse days I'm sure but I'm so happy we appeared to give in 100% - this was missing hugely last season

I worry teams might figure us out and get tight on our wingers so will need overlapping full backs (Coleman was quality in build up to Decore goal) - I do think we lack a bit of invention through the middle (especially with current player being away from team) - I'll get shot here but Barkley would be very cheap!

Buy cheap, you get what you pay for, vill had him for a season, they choise not to exercise their option, good indication of his worth.

I was impressed with what Rafa has managed to do with the team in such a short time. The side and backward passing leading to nowhere was absent. When we did pass backwards it was with the intent of immediately moving the ball forward. Players were constantly moving into open spaces and the desire and intent to attack was present. Some of the football was a joy to watch unlike the tripe served up in the latter stage of last season. Rafa's substitutions were also spot on and he was constantly barking instructions.
Yes a lot of nervous play in the first half and the Keane type of mistake just can't happen at this level. We have holes to fill in the squad and players to move on. It is early days and our next match against a Leeds side who can attack with speed will be a test of our progress. I have always wondered why a squad which is good on paper does not seem to live up to expectations on the pitch. Maybe at last we have a manager who can get the best out of the players we already have!

I would like to see Godfrey as one of the starting CB’s this season, think he offers more
I think Barkley had a large fee associated to his loan move if Villa wanted to sign him which wasn’t offering value, maybe worth a punt on loan, like others have done to us, loan with a “yeah yeah interested in buying we will contribute 50% of his wages as we are skint” attitude.

I don’t believe in the sayings above. You get what you pay for. Cahill? Coleman, gueye? You can say times have changed but these are brilliant signings previously. Digne for his quality I’d say is a bargain? No such thing as your as good as your price tag. There’s a lot of expensive players in the prem that have proven this.
