I was all for Carlo when he came to us but I really think with. Rafa close to becoming our next manager he could have done a really good turn by jumping ship.

GB they could make Micky Mouse the manager and you'd be excited and super enthused. But we need supporters like you more than the doom merchants out there.

Personally, I think Carlo is a magnificent manager and would eventually, with a couple more windows, got us up challenging at the top.

I think Rafa is a very good manager and a nice person to boot. However, his links to Liverpool FC and his small club comment (his explanation is utter bull) don't endear me to him. On top of that we are going to get ripped apart by the Liverpool supporters with them singing more songs about Rafa than we are at matches. Imagine us getting beaten by Liverpool with Rafa in charge! Agent Rafa wins the derby for Liverpool again!

The biggest thing though is that he has just come back over here, wants a job close to his family in Liverpool and is bored. Not exactly a recipe for an ambitious, dynamic manager looking to drive a club with huge ambition both on and off the pitch and create a legacy or even to build his reputation in the game. It just feels like we are very convenient for him.

We need to make sure our next manager is as ambitious with his career as our club and fans are.

I can't help but think of the flip side to this though imagine us turning up at Anfield with Rafa and getting a result? Can you imagine the scenes? We always as Evertonians think of the negatives.

I don't think Rafa takes this Job without giving 100% commitment in his position, why would you go through 12/ 18 months of Hell just because of boredom?

He has something to Prove and wants be to close to his family, his links to the city its not something I think he will throw away as if its nothing.

Agreed mate. He's wanted the job since before Carlo got it. If we can't get over a comment he made criticising his bitter rivals at the time then there's no hope to be honest. He seems a thoroughly decent chap and will give it his best shot, so let's just back the guy. There will be people quick to jump on negative football as a reason to hate him, but let's remember last season. In terms of an entire season it's the most negative, unentertaining football I have seen from an Everton team in my lifetime.

As you said GB you were all for Carlo when he was appointed and now you are all for Rafa now he is favorite.

As BJU said it could be Mickey Mouse and you'd be excited by it but is this 'blind faith' what is best for Everton

This is a forum site and everyone is entitled to their own opinions but this acceptance that everything that happens is OK because I am an Everton supporter is not helping the club challenge itself

Moshiri has made a massive difference to this club but we are wasting the advantages given to us by making, in my opinion bad mistakes - even by Moshiri himself, and the fans just keep saying 'it's OK we will still support you and won't criticise because we are true supporters'.

Ask yourselves - if this was our business would we be happy with the last 10 years football wise, the turnover in managers, the bad signings, the lack of young players coming through the ranks, the rise of Spurs, Leicester, even Wolves and West Ham while we have stagnated. If you are happy so be it

I'm not. We should do better.

Yeah, You can tell from the MNF video from before CA that's circulating again, he's laying the foundations there.
The football the latter half of the season was awful under CA, Not sure if it was on here or not but I remember reading that Rafa from his Real Madrid days he always wanted 5 players defending 5 players attacking, that's a step forward to CA's 7 Defending 3 attacking IMO.

Just read the responses on here some valid points from everyone but let's all be honest we are where we are for a reason don't understand the hatred towards rafa yes he managed Liverpool this should be irrelevant what we all need to do is get behind whoever gets appointed me personally I think rafa is a good appointment it's been nothing but poor recruitment from walsh and also previous managers aswell again don't understand the flags outside goodison but i will certainly back him it's up to him to prove doubters wrong and I honestly think he will in due course prove minority of fans wrong but he needs time and the fans need to be patient and get behind team when season starts.

Some answers here to some of these points:
He wanted the job because he was in China and didn't want to be there. It's why it lasted 5 minutes.
His ambition is Everton because it's on his doorstep. No application to be Spurs, Wolves or Palace boss.
Rafa has nothing to prove. He's managed Madrid and won the UCL.

He was slated most times at Newcastle for boring tactics and has been accused by some ex players at Madrid and Liverpool of dull training sessions. He even came out when at Newcastle "I don’t agree with that. People used to say when I was at Liverpool, “Oh, he’s defensive”. No, we are not defensive, we are well-organised, that is different". Personally, I also think he's well organised but you lot are already expecting him to be playing attacking and spectacular football. That is not what he plays. So I will probably jump on board with his footballing philosophy but you will be expecting something different. It will be no different to Carlo.

Finally, he doesn't tend to stick around for more than 18 months to 2 years anywhere. Newcastle is the only place in his last 6 clubs or 3 in 13 clubs he has managed in total. We don't need more of that, we are looking for a long term solution here. Is he going to stick around with the fans on his back, which you know they will, you're a fool if you think they wont.

I think some probably will be on his back - and that makes them the fools, not us for wanting them not to be.
I'm not sure which comment you're referring to re the attacking, spectacular football as I haven't taken that from anyone's comments. If anything, the opposite as it seems people are expecting and accepting of a pragmatic approach given that's what we've been used to anyway.

BJU - So Basically everything that people said about Carlo? with his style and training sessions but we accepted that without batting a eyelid? not to mention staying for longer than 18months -. -'

Sometimes the blue tinted glasses need taking off and we all need to take a step back. He was the Reds Manager OK but he hasn't been for a good amount of time now, His Style may be defensive or well organised which means he suits how CA has left us does it not?

He has got to prove he's still a top class manager, Its like we think that he's going to join EFC and out of bitterness try his hardest to ruin us which isn't going to happen let's be fair now.

I got it from "The football the latter half of the season was awful under CA, Not sure if it was on here or not but I remember reading that Rafa from his Real Madrid days he always wanted 5 players defending 5 players attacking, that's a step forward to CA's 7 Defending 3 attacking IMO. " I am over exaggerating the point but most are expecting a huge turn around in playing style when that is not likely to happen. I'm happy with that if it shows progression but most won't be.

I also agree that they are fools and idiots if they think going to the game and having a go at the manager is going to make things better. I hate that type of FAN. I'm a SUPPORTER of Everton with money, heart and soul, and will do anything, even singing the name of Rafa if needed, to help Everton win. I've never booed a player or manager of Everton, ever at a game and I've been going for 42 years. I've never booed a performance either and I never will because it won't help anyone by doing so.

That's why this is the perfect place to blow off steam and release frustration.

Arguo, I didn't mention his training style, I simply put that others did when he was manager of them, or had a problem with his football style, again i was qouting his response to what was said about him when managing those teams. I didn't either with CA because they do what they can with the players they have. However, people expect it to be different when its not going to be. I'm a realist and know it probably won't and I'm fine with that.

As for him being a red. Of course I do. So you think LFC fans would have been happy with Kendall or Royle or Moyes. Of course not. We hate each other in football terms. But I won't let that affect me supporting MY club and I'll back whoever is manager and whoever plays for us.

He has nothing to prove at all. He's 61 and done everything. I'm not saying he will try to ruin us but don't think he's coming into this thinking this is the best thing that's ever happened to him. He's not. Its a job that's nice and close to home. Feet up at 5pm to watch the chase.

I have never liked the thought of Raffa but if he is to be the one then so be it. At least he won't have to worry about decorating. I'm sure his house will be red and white within days of being appointed :-)
