I think our problems on the field could be solved if we revert back to playing with 2 strikers. We have played with 1 striker for far too long and it just doesn't work. Too many confusing formations with a number 10 or a false number 9 etc. just revert to a good old 442 system and find a strike partner for dom. I really think he could be as effective as sharpy but he needs a strike partner. I personally would go for Danny ings or a similar type of player. We always end up looking at an isolated forward who then starts to get the criticism when the goals dry up. We need balance and we need creativity and 2 strikers on the pitch would enable us to keep the ball up front and let the midfield press higher up the pitch. We get swamped far too often and bogged down in our own half. Its terrible to watch. We need to change the mindset at the club and attack rather than defend. Just my opinion.

Ok, we don't have a right winger but whatever formation we play we need to get a RW so that's not the issue.

The problem is that old fashioned 442 doesn't work these days as standard defences can neutralise it by forcing wingers wide and dealing with the inevitably looping crosses which are hard to get any power behind anyway by making sure centre forwards are marked. That's if you can even get a cross in as you end up passing the ball in front of the parked bus risking being hit on the break.

Loads of Dom's goals come from the break for this reason, the opposition haven't got their defence in position.

You can play 442 but not an old fashioned one, you need a false 9 and/ or number 10 or something else, creative to play between the lines etc. You need to work out what to do when the opposition park the bus and an old fashioned 442 with a big feller trying to win headers in the box and a little feller waiting for knock downs won't cut it.

Danny Ings would cost a lot of money, he’s 28 and has a bad history of injuries. We need to avoid players like that.

To be fair I don't care what formation is behind the 2 strikers. play what you want! I just want 2 strikers on the pitch. I don't understand it when people say you can't play 442 anymore. What a load of crap! Weve employed every system apart from 442 and we still get found out! If you want goals play 2 out and out strikers! As for anyone knocking back ings. don't make me laugh.

Pointless having 2 strikers in a 442 when you're getting overrun in midfield. The reason 442 doesn't work is because you can't control the midfield they're outnumbered so you're stuck with lumping the ball over the top as Leicester did for Vardy when they won the league. We don't have a vardy and the other prem teams that employ it like Burnley and Southampton are terrible. There have been otherd that have played it but they aren't in the prem anymore.

Burnley destroyed us and so did Southampton. If you have the right players you can play any formation and win games. I am just sick of watching us isolate every striker we have available and then get overrun completely. You don't need old style centre forwards just play 2 strikers who can score! You don't need 2 wingers just get creative midfielders or play 3 5 2! It doesn't matter to me just put 2 goalscorers on the pitch and it will open up space in the opposition defence rather than watching our solitary striker get marked out of the game and the crabs in midfield running sideways!

Well I'm sorry Pauly but I'd rather be where we are than Burnley or Southampton.
What we need is a no10 and a midfield that can score goals, if we get that then 1 striker is plenty.

The problem is we have very little threat up front. Southampton and Burnley consistently win the same as us. NOTHING! We need midfielders who can see a pass! Even if we had those type of players they would still be limited to punting a high ball up to Dom so he can either head it forward (to no-one) or hold it up for the midfielders and enabling the defence to get back. Its just terrible to watch mate.

I agree with getting another striker. My point is you can't play an old fashioned 442. You can play a 442, but not just the old fashioned way, it's too easy to defend against and sacrifice control of midfield so you end up with 2 lads top of the pitch watching the rest of the team getting rings run round them. To make it work you have to have strikers who drop deep to help out in midfield, can go wide if needed and play between the lines as defences are disciplined these days.
