Now at the risk of looking like a completely uneducated bellend has anyone thought that moyes could actually be a very good appointment? Boring football and being a backstabbing defensive prick aside, tactically, what moyes used to do was normally set out a solid defence and let his front 4 do the talking but unfortunately none of our strikers, bar their 1st season, ever looked likely to score. But now we have Lukaku who has shown time and again he has the ability to score suddenly we won't look so dire going forward. Thoughts?

You're a brave man Jason. I'll give you that.

Joking aside, we know we will be tight under Moyes and that he will ruin any striker we buy. But he walked out on us and did it in a very sneaky way.

Given more money than before could he do a better job? Probably. But then so could maybe the other candidates who haven't done to us what he did.

The supporters are too split on this I think. I would have him back but there is so much anti Moyes feeling I believe it would split the support. One thing I do know is Moyes left a very strong squad after 11 years of wheeling and dealing. RM came in and immediately had 27 million from Fellaini sale. That went on Lukaku. He has since spent in excess of 50 million and in my humble view the squad is now much inferior. 13 mill on McCarthy was excessive. 6 mill on Kone was just a waste. McGeady was a waste and 13 mill on Niasse looks like money down the drain. Add the wages of Alcaraz and the fact we ended up paying a fee for Barry due to the complicated agreement and our current position. I would say we need about another 50 mill to get back where we were when Moyes left.

Front 4?
I'm sure we played 4 5 1 under Moyes!

I think we (and other fans) said he could do it if he had the money. Now he could have the money So.

A split. That indicates there is a 50/ 50 support which I'm not sure if at all.

I agree on Niasse but still not enough game time to be sure. McCarthy if sold would get a fair bit more than we paid for him. Barry has been worth the outlay. And as regards the strikers, Kone poor but still if sold we could recoup the initial outlay as it's hard to get a striker for less than 5 mill these days. And Lukaku would not have been considered by Moyes as he's certainly not a Moyes type of player which is why when he left our best striker was Naismith and Fellaini up top.

But agree the team has gone backwards and Moyes would definitely do a better job with most of Martinez signings.

I just struggle to forget his sneaky machinations when we deserved a little transparency. I don't think many would have begrudged him the move if he'd have been more open about it.

Can't believe some of the pro posts for Moyes on here, he did a great job, but before he left there were so many negative posts about Dour Dave and how so many wished for more exciting football, then there was the first season under Martinez when all was rosy and Moyes was soon forgotten and many even wanted him to fail at utd. Now many are wanting him back! do you not have any greater ambition than going backwards?
Sounds so fickle to me!
