Roberto Martinez, when managing Wigan Athletic, played eight Premier League games between 2009 and 2013 against Tony Pulis when he managed Stoke City. RM won 2 of the eight matches and drew the other 6. Considering that both managers are known for getting their teams to play in a certain way - but allowing for certain tactics (like the Delap throw-ins) being unavailable - could it be that RM has a way of getting results against Pulis teams? All very hypothetical, of course, and we need to be winning our home matches - not drawing them or (worse) losing.

1.) But did you know that 87.5% of statistics are manipulated in order to prove a point. And they have removed the word gullible from the Oxford English Dictionary.

2.) Ah, but Degsy, 76% of statistics are made up. 83% of people know that.

Can the Eds please put up a voting poll as follows?
Where, out of these four choices, do you now think Everton will finish in the Premier League?
(A) Top Four
(B) 5th, 6th, or 7th
(C) 8th, 9th, or 10th
(D) 11th or lower

Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - there is no point in including below 8th POD...its just not viable mate....but i will do one for 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th

1.) Ed025 - you might not think that's viable - and you're almost certainly right - but I wanted voters to choose what they think and that'd include the lower (however unlikely) finishing positions.
Live long and prosper, mate :-)

{Ed025's Note - i just dont want trolls putting stupid predictions in POD, it just causes hassle mate..

2.) Ed025 - fair point. Thanks.

3.) 1st Man City
2nd Chelsea
3rd Liverpool
4th Arsenal
5th Spurs
6th EVERTON
7th Newcastle
8th Southampton
9th Man Utd

{Ed025's Note - not a bad guess that mike...i would say united for 7th though mate, and us and spurs maybe reversed..

4.) Good post that mate, I would settle for 5th though.

All the postings about the kit deal are entertaining. So are the posts about the club's other commercial income (lack of) and the need for a modern, income-generating stadium.
Likewise the posts about qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and the money that would give us.
The bottom line is that we must stay in the Premier League because that's where we get the bulk of our income - from the TV deal. Everything thing else we earn helps, but without that TV money we'd be well and truly sunk.
It's good for the fans to be ambitious - especially supporting a club with our history and fanbase - but the club's own in-house FINANCIAL planning must be based on finishing 17th (just above relegation) and going out of the cups in the initial round and no European qualification. Anything better than that is pure expectation and any extra funds can then be given to squad strengthening. Football might be a game, but the financial aspects are not. Just look at all the other clubs panicking about being in the relegation scrap and replacing their managers. Look at those other clubs with massive debts or reliance on sugar daddies that treat the clubs as playthings - is that what you want? BK might not have the personal wealth and he might be wanting too much money to sell the club, but he's not been one to panic when we've had setbacks along the way. I fully expect RM to be given every available penny for players - even if we only have a limited amount.
Without stability we'd be doomed.

{Ed025's Note - good post that POD..

Normal service has been resumed.
Everton bottling it in the big games.
A Martinez team defending badly.
Champions League qualification? You're having a laugh. Not a chance this season or any season.
We've ridden our luck defensively in so many matches this season, but tonight we've been punished for our inadequacies.
Mid table mediocrity is all that lies ahead.

What's the problem with some posters using different accounts?

{Ed007's Note - Why would you want to? Unless you're trying to be a smart ar$e it's pointless. We made the sites registered users only to cut down on trolls and if people are using multiple accounts they tend to be up to no good so we will block them and delete the accounts.}

Who do you suggest? I read a while back that Dyno-Rod were being considered, but some joker was worried that they'd want our ground renamed as "The Stadium of S***e" (rhymes with Sunderland's ground's name) to advertise their drain-cleaning services.
Complete tosh of course, but some poor gullible souls fell for it.

ManCity should win the League Cup, but as they're surely qualifying for the Champions League - and as the League Cup runners up do not get a European place (unlike the FA Cup runners up in similar circumstances) - then a Europa League place goes to the next best league finish, which means that 6th place joins 5th in the Europa league. If the FA Cup winners and runners up both qualify for Europe via league position, then 7th might even qualify for the Europa League. We're still in with a chance :-)
