eds if you were posting a half term report what what would it day. my opinion would be more than satisfactory but could do bbetter. any thoughts posters? paul c {Ed025's Note - i would say...A- great start, up there with the big boys, and even though some of the refs have not been playing fair, we have maintained our dignity, a few to many draws, but lovely to watch..

I think we'd all more or less say the same thing, played great football, could have been better points wise, too many draws, been more clinical in front of goal, and bad refereeing decisions. There's nothing we can do about it now. I'd have taken 6th-this time last year we were 14th, but it is what it is (B)

As long as we keep our traditional "Strong finish" we'll be fine.
I'm sure we where only about 10pts away from CL last season?
Anyway, I've got toothache so I'm grumpy as hell.... sorry baby :(

No point in arguing with kopites, because we know deep down that we have a better team, we know we have better fans, we know we are better than them, and we all know kopites don't go the game, and we know we are better than them in every single way so just laugh at them, its as simple as that, just laugh
They come on this site and say they are a big club and say they have won more than us but I say forget the past, enjoy the present and look forward to the future, now is a great time to support Everton
Phil, COYB!! {Ed025's Note - your right phil..

Funny that your ground holds 41000 and yet your average is 36thou were as anfield is completely sold out all games {Ed007's Note - Yeah that's real rolling in the aisles hilarious, I thought Scousers had a sense of humour? You need to get out more.}

I guarantee your not one of those people filling anfield, just filling the pub or the space in the room for your armchair, grow up
Agree0

Full house every home game and expanding our ground, doesn't sound like a club who are struggling to attract supporters, even when we are not doing well, this is why there are thousands of us watching on the box when we can't get a ticket. Whereas you are doing well (up to a month ago that is) and still can't fill you grubby little hole.
Enjoy your success (at finishing above LFC) it will be over soon, when Moysy realises he must move on to win any trophies at all.
Agree0

Thanks for the optomism about us FINISHING above your team. I personally still think you may have a chance of catching us this season, but if you insist we are finishing higher than you, who am I to argue? Or are you still going on about last season where we did FINISH higher than you? Either way thanks for your optimism, it is really appreciated. Perhaps you will turn blue after a few struggling years? Degsypulford
Agree0
Disagree0
Just like you Degsypulford, I will never change my support, I have been to Anfield a few times this season and to be honest (yes some of us are not delusional) you have more of a chance of finishing in the top 4 than ourselves.
I will offer my congratulations to your team when/if you finish higher, the end league positions don't lie, but most of your fan's aspirations is to finish above us, which is weak, your club cannot attract buyers or fans, you are in limbo.
Once Moysey has gone you will struggle, no money, no leadership and a second choice club for all decent players.
I honestly hope you have a good second half of the season, I would like nothing better to see both our clubs at the top again, but I think you are punching above your weight and will be caught out soon.
Big Bill
Agree0

Hey Big Bill, thanks for your reply. You sound like a more reasonable Red, so I will try to be honest and not do too much of a wind up. I would disagree with you about us being in limbo. I think our improvement has been a slow year on year development instigated by Moyes but also with the full backing of Bill Kenwright. Each season we have had to sell players, but due to the shrewd management we have often made profits. Our current better players are on long contracts ensuring if we have to sell again, we can make more profit again...then re-invest. We have improved the quality of players year on year and you are right to say we might miss Moyes should he move on. But I trust Bill K to dig out another gem of a manager if that happens. With regards to your team, I suggest that as we have improved year on year, your team has regressed. You do have one quality player in Suarez, but he is also a liability to some degree. A bit like Duncan F was for us. I am 55 years old and have always lived in the red shadow other than for a couple of years. I am not predicting we will qualify for Europe or even finish higher than you, but I am predicting that any coming red shadow will be a small cloud in the sky.....the rest is BLUE! We are once again competing and I am hoping we will do better than you. All the best though and hope you can take the lack of success in the same way as we blues had to endure over the years. Once again, the future's bright...the future's blue! Degsypulford {Ed025's Note - cracking honest reply that degsy P..well done mate..

Jab

Degsypulford, you seem like an honest football supporter and you are right in what you say about your improvement, I just can't see you hanging onto your better players if you don't get European football and if you can't pay them extravagant wages. This is why I think you are in limbo.
Moysey is a one off, he suits your club but he must wonder what he can achieve at (I'm not going to say bigger) a less financially challenged club.
We ain't the force we once were, but we are trying to turn things around, we seem to have to do this in a short period, but in time we will find our way back to the top.
As I mentioned, I want both clubs to do well and for us to once again meet our mates at the end of their home game in good spirits, it's been sour for too long between our supporters, rivalry, banter and pxxs taking are ok it's the hatred that has spoiled things.
Good luck Degseypulford

Oh i'm sorry Big Bill, I wasn't aware you could look into the future! How do you know we'll struggle without Moyes? We could find a better manager, you don't know. How do you know we won't get invested in? You don't. How do you know that 'most' Everton fans aspire to finish above Liverpool? Do you know 'most' Everton fans? No, you don't. How about I flip the situation. Liverpool would be in the relegation zone without Suarez. Suarez will leave Liverpool in the Summer and you're team will slump to mid-table mediocrity (which you already are but what the hell). You're owners will get bored with the club and leave you in a similar situation as the other two Yankees did. See how easy it is to make-up pointless b******t Bill? You haven't got a clue about the future of Everton, just focus on the past, Kopites seem to be good at that. Oh and by the way Bill, seen as though you can see into the future and all, you mind telling me next weeks lottery numbers?

Here's a little statistic for you kopite. Jelavic hasn't had a ball played to his feet in the box in 371 minutes of football played. He isn't scoring because no-one is giving him the opportunity to...Not a 1 season wonder at all, he'll be back in the goals soon and we'll be challenging for 3rd spot while Liverpool are scrapping it out for 17th. Btw people can quote me on that stat, 100% true if there were any doubters.

Can't you see there is a problem if Jelavic hasn't had a ball played to his feet for 371 minutes?
maybe other teams have seen enough of him to keep him off the ball. 100% true.
Big Bill
Agree0

I don't think you know what you're talking about Bill. His movement is as good as ever, he just isn't getting the service, I.e against Arsenal when he was completely free, and instead of cutting it back to him Pienaar tried to squeeze it in the near post. Another incident against Norwich when Naismith just needed to pass it along the floor and he certainly would have scored but instead he balooned it. Finally, against Citeh when Fellaini chested it down it the box and instead of giving it to a completely free Jelavic, he tried to give it to Gibson but the ball was intercepted. I've said it once and I'll say it again, he's not getting the service. Look at his goals as well 3 out of his 5 he has made for himself. Enough said. I'm not having a go at you Bill, everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's just that I think yours is wrong.
Agree0

Thank God we're not a one man team eh, Bill ! Unlike some who are over reliant on a certain individual who wears the number 7 to net them points. I'd hate to hazard a guess where they'd be without him.
Agree0
Disagree0
We will see next Sunday (fingers crossed) we obviously need a decent forward we know that, until January we have got to get our midfielders into the box. Or, can you lend us Jelavic, oh and Fellaini if you don't mind.
As you can see, I'm not too precious, I see things as they are and am a realist not a dreamer.

Any idea what's happening with the proposed deal for Forren Ed ? Are we keeping it on the lowdown like or is he waiting for a more lucrative, attractive proposition.

Thanks Ed, I can't really say that I'm too excited about signing a CB who I've never seen play but, by all accounts, he is being tracked by some big clubs and is earning some rave reviews. Hopefully he'll prove a good acquisition if we do nail him. Would you expect Heitinga to move on if we got him ?

I saw a rumour about Beckham below and thought it deserved my feelings on the matter.
He turned us down once? I can't remember this but whether he did or didn't it would be an unbelievable capture.
forget his wages because they would pay them selves in merchandising alone.
The fact is that Beckham would put our fantastic team in a position to attract players & investment. We would be watched from every country around the world just because he is here.
Could you image what the youngsters would gain from having a player like Becks around, he'd be an ambassador for progress for many years after he left.
I very much doubt it will happen but my word we should thank our lucky stars if he did.
What does everyone else think...

Unless we had a fair few injuries he would not be a starter, so why would he come to sit on our bench. He could have the pick of any bench in the country! So if he signs for anyone it will probably be for a team he is likely to be in the starting line up.
Agree0

Im that second poster, Right Leon pretend your a rich investor for a moment, and suddenly David Beckham turns up at Portsmouth lets us say, my question to you is as a rich investor would you suddenly throw millions at Portsmouth just because Beckham has turned up there? It's the same thing my friend.
Michael {Ed025's Note - i think what leon is saying...is that due to his notoriety, people who would not normally know much about our club, may take an interest because of the media circus which follows beckhams every move...and i think its a fair point..
Agree0

Lets face it though ed we don't want those kind of people investing in our club do we? It's not like we're a Portsmouth or some other small club, but i take your point.
Michael
Agree0

Let's not even compare ourselves to Portsmouth please. We're everton FC and we are on the verge of becoming a top team with some relatively (compared to Man U & Man city, Chelsea) unknown players on the big stage. I think if we manage to get Champs league it'll be amazing, but it's staying there that will be the difficulty.
From a purely non footballing stance I believe he would be a benefit to Everton football club. Both in the immediate and the future times. Commercially i cannot see a way we could loose.
I aslo believe he's got enough to deputise in that holding role better than what neville has been. But my reasons are more about what i think he'd add to the club off the field lads.
Leon EFC (p.s. doubt its even a thought in moyes' head)

When Beckham was in his prime it was his long searching passing and his amazing set pieces that stood him out from the rest on the pitch.
We have a dead ball specialist in Baines and a pass master in Gibson both of which have 90 minutes in their legs.
We don't need Beckham to improve the playing side of things. As regards the finance... hard to say if it would make a big enough difference.
I'd sooner have another Belgian tbh.

Yep most of the spanish teams are in hoc to the government, but thats okay as the spanish government are more than likely getting another EU bailout. They will probably use to subsidise some of the bigger teams. Hopefully there will be some movement in the spanish market but I cant see the big teams getting rid of there assest. There may be a good chance of some resonable loans of fringe players though.
