Brilliant news. The midfield is certainly getting the attention it deserves. Dacoure will be the cherry on top.
I said it about Alan and I'll say it about Rodriguez. The contract lengths are spot on. No more crazy Walsh deals with 5 years being thrown about. 2 superb proven stars in the peak of their careers.
I've just done the predicted table on the BBC sport page and I've plumped for a 6th place finish.

If we can grab this Maxi Uruguayan striker, that'd cement Rikky out on the left. Solidifying our midfield and giving us tactical flexibility. Just need to move Theo and or Iwobi and pull out of the hat a RW. I'd be buzzing to see what we can do.

Still a lot of changes needed but the pressure should be off this window and give us food for thought for the next 2 windows. Next summer should be fun.

Really need a top notch striker mate, brilliant news.

2.) 07 Sep 2020 21:59:19
Yep stick Ricky out on the left because we need yet another left winger.

3.) 07 Sep 2020 22:09:47
Moses Kean looked decent on RW for Italy tonight?

4.) 07 Sep 2020 22:15:25
Ricky best on the left, needs space to run into and centre halves dominate him too easily when he’s back to goal.

5.) 07 Sep 2020 22:34:13
He sees himself as a striker, Ancelotti sees him as a striker and Brazil see him as a striker. The Lad had 13 goals and 3 assists last season as a striker why change it if it ain't broken?

6.) 07 Sep 2020 23:13:43
I’m with Guernsey on this one. Still think we need a striker and centre back though can’t complain with the business for Alan, Rodriguez and hopefully Dacoure (announce Wednesday? Thursday? Before October? ) .

Now to see who brands can shift out on loan/ sell to sort out wage budget.

7.) 07 Sep 2020 23:15:12
If richarlison plays in a front 2 with Calvert lewin. who plays left wing? I keep hearing about this reoccurring theme of too many left wingers but I genuinely cannot think who we have as an out and out left winger! Equally I don't think walcott or bolasie are good enough on the right? Left back looks very strong. Hopefully kenny can cut it this season.

8.) 07 Sep 2020 23:19:20
who starts LW then? Iwobi isn't good enough and as much as i love bernard he seems to be too light weight for the prem that just leaves gordon who got his first real taste of the prem last season if we can move players on i think we need 2 wingers a gk and a rb if kenny is to go out on loan.

9.) 08 Sep 2020 06:46:37
Iwobi hasn't had a decent chance on the left yet. Bernard struck up a good partnership with Digne when he got a consistent run on the left, although he looks better through the middle.
Let Gordon, Iwobi and Bernard fight it out.

10.) 08 Sep 2020 09:20:03
Gordon's ALIVE (best Brian Blessed accent) let him play!

11.) 08 Sep 2020 11:52:39
if brands can shift out bollassi, sandro, gylfi, iwobi and tosun when he returns from injury man deserves a knighthood.

12.) 08 Sep 2020 12:12:48
Richiarlison still scored goals when on the left anyway., what position to we think James will play. Right of a front 3. I don't see Ancellotti playing a number 10 role, and if he plays richiarlison up front that means he will drop dcl who he seems to like!?
Nice to have options with quality though.

13.) 08 Sep 2020 15:10:02
I see Carlo sticking with Ricky and DCL up top with a diamond midfield for most games. Kinda makes a mockery of all the wingers we have but think JR has to play no10 and Ricky has to be a striker. Dobt trust DCL to play up solo as too inconsistent and not top quality as poor touch and not clinical or exo enough.

14.) 08 Sep 2020 15:41:51
I think he might play the diamond. But I think he'll play 433 as well. Gives us good flexibility to change things up.

15.) 08 Sep 2020 15:56:22
The fact he's bought 2 maybe 3 mids and no sign of an out and out winger would suggest a change in formation.

Not sure why it's just popped up in my feed this morning but 2 says ago there was an article about a issue with stadium. Historic England aren't happy by the account of the article. Hopefully this is some sketchy home blogger or as we know 21st century journalist, states they will not give permission for use of the site even with the recent amendments. Seems the big issue is one that no redesign will ever fix, they don't want anything to fill in the dock. Surely this is rubbish but if true, that's the end of that site.

toffeeapple1

1.) 06 Sep 2020 11:13:03
Historic England have objected to the stadium as it feels it ruins a world heritage site and the filling in of the dock will cause irreparable damage.
What they fail to see is the irreparable damage to the economy the C.V. has caused and all the good for the city and those working there this development will actually create.
Put aside the issue of being a fan.
This development will create 1000s of jobs and benefit the economy greatly it will also develop an area of the city that is crying out for development.
It also will probably attract more visitors once stadium is complete than it does now.

I think they need to look at the bigger picture

Hopefully the Secretary of State who historic England are pushing to make final decision will see the benefit this development will actually bring to the city of Liverpool and the wider community.

2.) 06 Sep 2020 11:15:08
Historic England were always going to object its what they do and they have been threatening since 2005 to remove out heritage status. local businesses has asked for us to give them it back it has no great benefit to tourism but if they get their way it will be delayed by 12 months as it will be called in luckily we have local historian groups on our side and the government were very impressed when we took the plans to London we will just have to wait and see bud.

3.) 06 Sep 2020 14:28:07
The historic england group obviously don't live around bramley moor dock, i work up and down the dock road and we have stations right where the ground is going to be, its a total dump at the min barren waste land and an absolute eyesore surely they can't be serious thinking that is better than a nice new stadium is a worse option! that's without the vital economy boost liverpool as a city needs with all the hardship the C. V has caused.

{Ed001's Note - they just fight to keep everything as it was, with no understanding of the particular needs of any single place. The stadium will be great for the city, I am sure they won't be able to stop it.}

4.) 06 Sep 2020 19:16:56
If anyone ever saw the Albert docks and surrounding area in the eighties can see what a brilliant job has been done around the arena, the Albert Dock, the echo arena, the radison high tower hotel, countless other buildings built with the area now thriving.

Bramley Moore is run down and an eyesore, regenerating that area will give the area an uplift, will create jobs, not just from the stadium, but other businesses that can build there.

If the world heritage would prefer it to remain rundown and an eyesore, I would tell the heritage to stick their status where the sun does not shine, the City needs a rebuild around there, more than they need a heritage tag.

Most of all, they need the economy and jobs after the Panademic.

5.) 06 Sep 2020 21:26:38
Haha can't put a stadium at Bramley Moore dock. Yet it's fine to have what's next to it on Sandon dock. These people probably just work in an office somewhere and have no idea what is really going on in the area.

6.) 08 Sep 2020 20:04:28
Liverpool fan here. I think your stadium would benefit the city greatly. The renovation of the area around the Baltic triangle has impressed me so much how it has went from nothing to such a vibrant, unique foodie place.

I worked for a company a while back who are involved with the planning for the stadium. A manager was telling me he was really impressed with the plans and that the stadium is not just being thought of as a football stadium, but a entertainment venue. Lots of little things are being put in place that will make it easy for the stadium to hold music concerts, boxing etc.

Seems to be a big push of this windows usual suspects in tonights press. Rafinha? Dacoure? Allan? Macksimovic? Van de Beek? Rodriguez? Tomori? 1 or 3 of these will do nicely Mr Moshiri.

We are getting roasted on twitter (to be fair it's very funny and sadly true) about signing Lingard by UTD fans.

In all seriousness we best not go anywhere near him.

Am I the only one confused by the Zaha demand from fans? I know he's a talent and I know we can't expect to go a full season without some cover but. He's right footed and plays mostly on the left doesn't he? (always whenever I've seen him plays on the left) I thought Townsend was Palaces RW?
Maybe I'm totally wrong but I'd really like to understand why so many people are hoping for him to sign?
Thought RW and striker to replace Moise was the requirement for our front line.

toffeeapple1

1.) 20 Sep 2020 18:44:59
He's just at ease as a right winger. Most of his career has been spent there. Richarlison is mostly a left winger, who plays up front too and last season, was used on the right occasionally. Zaha could swap during games with richy to cause full backs a headache. But that's if we go for him and its not just paper talk.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 19:22:57
He could be a Transfer deadline day signing you never know.

3.) 20 Sep 2020 19:41:51
Don’t need him when we have James, putting James down the middle just means he will have less space and we have even less cover in midfield

If we were to get a winger I’d want Sarr from Watford, contributes just as many goals and assists as Zaha, is much much younger, faster and has a much higher potential.

{Ed025's Note - good shout that swan..

4.) 20 Sep 2020 20:27:13
Dentie I can't see much evidence of him being a Right sided attacker or RW.
Left wing and mainly striker at Palace 1st time, England U21 he was a striker, Man UTd barely played but on the left when he did. Back to Palace lone striker and LW. Sure he switches sides from time to time but Townsend is more prolific on the right and is their nailed on right sided attack.
I fully agree with Swan. Don't need him, doesn't make any sense. Why pay out a sizeable fee to shoe horn a player in the wrong position? Just because "he can play there" when 90% of his career he hasn't?
We need to move on from this Zaha stuff I think.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 21:14:34
He can play all 3 positions in a 433.
To get to where we want to be we need quality in depth and Zaha would give us that. He's better than Iwobi, Bernard and Gordon.
Unless we improve massively then Ricky has already said he'll give us one more season and he'll be off.
If he does go then we are going to need a Zaha type player so get him in now and hopefully he'll push us on and Ricky won't need to leave next season.
Agree with the Sarr shout but he's less versatile for other positions and still a bit of a risk having only had one season in the prem.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 21:32:31
My thoughts as well mate.

7.) 20 Sep 2020 22:51:47
On a side note did anyone see Evra on sky when talking about him. Got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard from a pundit. They need to put him on every show and let it all unravel!

11 Sep 2020 16:36:24
Not as prickly as I'd expected from Jose. Guess he can't be accused of mind games stating that we are direct competition. But then he's only at Spurs these days. So he's just being factual. Also it's the 1st game so even he will be in a chipper mood.
Fingers crossed for sparks, back stabbing and armed to the teef comments in the home game. We'll know then that we are on the right path.
Come on Blues let's get into people's heads and start upsetting the establishment.

Pre window we were all in agreement what we needed. Now we seem to have done that business. And the rumours keep coming. Where and who do you think we need to recruit?

toffeeapple1

1.) 08 Sep 2020 19:06:41
I think Brands may now have to concentrate on some outgoings to balance the books which is fair enough.

Got to be happy with the 3 first team midfielders we’ve bought. Plus bonus of the young left back who looks decent.

2.) 08 Sep 2020 19:58:17
CB cover in the form of Zouma or Tomori would be good and some sort of experienced Striker to work with DCL would round off the transfer window for me. Who this might be, I can’t think of anyone decent at the moment.

Think Brands will focus on outgoings for the next week or so.

05 Sep 2020 10:19:51
And open the flood gates!
It's all kicking off people. going to be a great day.
Hopefully we start to get up the noses of the establishment finally.
You know we've made some envious changes when Jose has his 1st presser and instead of talking about his great friend CA, he will be passive aggressive about our summer business. Can't wait for all the snidey comments from him and his ilk.

Hope everyone is safe and well.
I'm wondering if anyone ever takes the credit for certain statements that seem to be 90% of the sludge on NSNO and other redundant but addictive gossip sites.
Statements like "I'll drive him myself" and "like a new signing" or the classic "typical Everton"
Drives me mad.

toffeeapple1

1.) 22 Apr 2020 01:23:41
Dont know but the I'll drive him myself. Or the like a new signing probably applies to supporters of every team, and as for typical everton, swap everton for any other team and it still has merit.

Drives me mad too guess the saying you can please some most of the time, but not everyone all of the time fits football clubs well.

Ps Ed 02 also said we couldn't do any business until we sold and balanced our books. Not disrespecting but he doesn't run our club. And was clearly wrong.

toffeeapple1

{Ed002's Note - Where did I say that? Point me to it. I have made clear that Everton need to balance the books - they already have an FFP issue. I have no recollection of say the order they must do things. I will stop providing updates to the Everton page for now to keep you happy.}

Like you say, 1 deal isn't going to make any difference to our FFP. So I really don't understand why you have a problem with this possible rumour?

We really have more players that need to leave. We have basically a years holiday with this C.V. so we have to be financially healthier come June 21. However with the very real possibility that we could still be suffering with this c19 in 6 or 12 months, we are likely as all clubs to get some more dispensation and wiggle room. Hopefully a euro spot and a slimmed squad of 25 instead of 32 will be another step in the right direction and some more business partnerships and sponsorship off the field to add to a healthier balance sheet. Like I say, I find your worry about MK being our financial lynch pin baffling.

The biggest achievement for the lad and you want him to miss out? I never get the anti England sentiment that washes around Liverpool.

What a buzz for DCL and thoroughly deserved. His confidence will go through the roof. I'd hope he gets on for a few minutes but being around that environment will be fantastic for him well done DCL.

Definitely Ed25. Other than him and Rodders having a couple of wobbles where they got in each others way, I think they started to form a very dynamic and different partnership. Can only be a good thing for all involved. If Sigs gets a small amount of self confidence, he should and could have got his shooting boots on too. He's definitely playing for the team now. Think it's time to give 1 or 2 a new start.
