Well, well, well. James has been left out of the Colombia squad for Copa America and WC qualifiers. Guess when you decide to save yourself and only play football every other week you aren't at match sharpness for international duty. Backfired for him.

Tmh

1.) 28 May 2021 22:18:26
He pulled out himself Tmh.

Reports suggesting we are set to sell barkley to city in order to fund an overhaul of the squad. Not sure myself but I'd take 50 mil for Barkley, I don't see him improving much tbh, imagine what we could do with that money. But i'm sure Martinez would just buy the rest of the wigan squad and then tthe name Wigan Athletic while he's at it.

Tmh

1.) If Barkley goes, I go. I was born blue and have remain true for close to forty years, but if the club is prepared to throw away another future star for short term gain, they don't respect the fans, the history of the club or its long term future. If they can not show any loyalty to the fans, why should I continue to follow.

2.) I can't believe fans want to sell barkley what's going on best talent since gazza and it would kill me to see this young evertonion playing for any other club if we want to win things we need to keep our best players

3.) City would have to sell to buy because of financial fair play, and they need a striker, not a midfielder. I also think we as a club would be expecting a huge transfer fee, and I don't think there will be many of those til summer. I don't want to lose Ross, but I didn't want to lose Rooney, and I feel we improved with the money we got for him, one player doesn't make a team, we need money to improve, and without new investment/owner, selling is our only way forward.

4.) There may be a hidden agenda here with the Wigan connection. Fill the squad with Wigan players and ex manager, get relegated, then play home games for next 2 years at the DW stadium. Sell the top value players and use the income to finance rebuild of Goodison Park rather than move elsewhere. It's only meant as a jovial thought in case anyone thinks I am serious but makes one think.

5.) 04 Jan 2015 17:04:26
I know let's swap Barkley for the KC stadium, because that's all we will fill if we keep selling our young talent.

6.) 04 Jan 2015 21:55:24
Not saying I want to be the new Wigan just saying that's the way the club is heading, also that martinez has been a prat with his signings bar McCarthy, Besic and Barry(on loan, not permanent) .

09 Jul 2014 04:35:03
Hey lads anyone know if we had to pay the 2.5 mil to city that was being reported prior to the signing?

Tmh

{Ed025's Note - we had to pay £2m tmh, it was a clause that if his loan became permanent a fee would be paid to city mate..

1.) It makes you wonder what the delay was if we've ended up paying the fee and given GB a three-year contract.
I reckon our negotiating team - especially BK - make sure we squeeze every financial advantage out of every transfer deal.

2.) That does seem to be a bit of a strange agreement to me, unless of course City were making a sizeable contribution to the lad's wages during the last year of his deal and were merely trying to recoup some. I can't believe the penny watcher BK would've paid all his wages AND agreed a fee for an out of contract player should he sign permanently. Swings and roundabouts.

Que Liverpool fans blaming Everton

Tmh

1.) It's entirely their own fault, but if they want to give us credit for depriving them of the league, that's fine by me :)

Alfred finnbogason looks absolute class!

He is a complete striker he can and does score headers, free kicks, penalties, inside the box, outside the box (basically wherever he wants)
He is very skilful, and reacts to situations very quickly and cooly. Also 58 goals in 62 games is quite an incredible statistic.
Do hope we snap him up would be an amazing signing.

Have any clue on what herenveen where asking for him ed?

Tmh

{Ed025's Note - around £6m TMH, looks good to me as well mate..

1.) 6 million sounds like a great price.

2.) Being prolific in Holland doesn't mean he will be good anywhere else. Afonso Alves was the most complete player in the world based on his performances in Holland; absolute shambles in the premier league. I'm not sayin he'll flop, because you can never tell, but don't be too disappointed when we probably don't get him.

3.) Finnbogason has been taken under the wing of Marco Van Basten, who has developed him brilliantly since signing him. Some might say that he's not good enough because his current form is a fluke, as he was rubbish previously, but I believe the opposite, that to go from a headless chicken, no footed orange cutter one year, to a 40+ goal striker the next that something has clicked in the players head. Aaron Ramsey has been hit with negative press about his ability countless times in the past, but with the form he's been in this season is now regarded really highly and almost any club would want him.

Burnley really are resurgent huh? Guess sacking Dyche was the right move, as much as the football community condemned it. I suppose at this we’re hoping to overtake Leeds?

Tmh

1.) 30 Apr 2022 21:16:43
It's our only way of staying up. 4 points to make up seems massive in our current form.

2.) 01 May 2022 08:58:29
You are right chris but i think it is a bridge too far shame really because i really do love this football club pity the players don't feel the same.

I know we get on iwobi’s back a lot. But I did appreciate the way Townsend pointed out iwobi’s flick in his goal with his celebration. Love that the players seemed to be playing for each other! That’s what we need in a squad.

Tmh

1.) 06 Feb 2022 11:09:39
Iwobi will thrive in a more attacking line up, its partly the previous managers tactics and partly iwobis fault for not been able to adapt, and 100% the fault of whoever panic bought him.

It’s wonderful to see a score line that starts Everton 4. But I think the best thing from yesterday’s game was seeing PASSION in Goodison park again. The celebrations of lampard, what a joy to see a manager emotionally invested in the performance of the team. The players converging on Mina after his opener. The slide from richy. Even Pickford’s response to the penalty going in. His head doesn’t drop (here we go again) . No, he grabs the ball and has the attitude we go again. That mentally is critical. I think the players were not in an environment of belief under benitez. If we conceded we would think ‘here we go again, ’ but no, we went on to score two more! I especially loved how lamps and the players turned to the fans when they scored and celebrated with the evertonians. The game seemed to me a lot to everyone all round, from supporters, to players, to lamp, and we have not been able to say that for a while. Let’s hope we can keep this attitude change going forward!

Tmh

{Ed025's Note - your spot on Tmh, good post mate..

There’s a lot of trash talking on Digne on here. It’s understandable that he’s leaving. Of course he doesn’t want to be here when then manager is not playing him and has made it abundantly clear he’s not part of his plans. It’s time he moved on and I’m glad we’ve got a young replacement, but I want to recognize what a player he has been for us. Up until this season he has been one of our best. He had big boots to fill when he came in, and over the years I think it’s fair to say that he achieved that. Plenty of magic moments to remember with fondness from Digne, and I wish him the best with his career going forward (except when he visits Goodison of course ?) .

Tmh

1.) 12 Jan 2022 18:47:13
Can't get in Villas starting 11, but we everton feel he can improve ours? I've honestly seen some awful times as an evertonian, but I've never felt quite as despondent as I have this season, we have no identity whatsoever, and although the manger cannot be held responsible for the previous 5 years, he is digging his own grave with his petty belligerence, Moshiri hasn't got 1 managerial appointment correct, he needs to let people who know what they're doing take charge.

2.) 12 Jan 2022 20:07:58
He (advisor (s) ) will not let football people near the Club.

Has any club in England spent worse than Everton in recent years? Perhaps even in Europe? The amount of money we’ve spent to see only regress is obscene. It’s not like the investment has been lacking. It’s sad to imagine what could have been if those funds had been better invested.

Tmh

1.) 03 Dec 2021 00:20:16
Deffo not mate. Apparently we’re the 5/ 6th biggest spenders in Europe over the last 5 years. Bloody scandalous.

So much for all the fans saying “ it’s not my money so I don’t care” when people including myself moaned about the ridiculous amounts of money we where spaffing on rubbish players,

2.) 03 Dec 2021 08:14:42
I agree SirLoin. some of us knew it was going to end up coming to a head whilst others just persisted with the "it's not my money" angle. I've found some of Rafas decisions recently strange but hope we stick with him - we need some stability and we don't need another hefty payoff for a manager.
You can't blame us after years and years of no success but do wonder how much of a negative impact we've had as fans over last few years. Partly through being quick to turn on players (although mostly deserved - the bone idle, passionless mercenaries) and turning goodison toxic to force managers out. Can't expect overnight success, but when it didn't happen manager after manager has been forced out. with very large payoffs and us stuck with a bunch of players that the next manager might not want.

Agree with Wakka and Lamps here. It’s no wonder he would want out with this kind of toxicity. Wouldn’t blame him. Cut the man a break, he’s had a brutal injury hit season and come into a side that’s battling relegation under a new manager. Not exactly the easiest conditions for him to perform. While he’s an Everton player, we need to back him. I don’t understand why so many insist on bringing our players further down when they need uplifting. Of course, comments and criticism are valid and deserved, but there’s no need for them to devolve into personal attacks.

Well he's English, a proven goal scorer and factor in the inflated prices because of the TV money in the league I'd say that's the going rate (if not a tad on the up side)

Not all of that money goes towards transfers. There's a lot more to running a club then buying players. But I'm not going to pretend I know anymore about financing a football club than any other fan.

Surely means the opposite regarding Arsenal. They’ll be going all out to beat us and hoping for a spurs banana skin against Norwich. Think this makes the palace game even more vital.

Narrow diamond sounds a bit crazy with Liverpool having arguably the best fullbacks and wingers in the league….

Also, can’t expect King was keen to stay after he was afforded zero chances to prove himself.

Wonder if he’s taking notes from DCL’s physical transformation. It is startling to see the difference between the boy Dom that made his Everton debut, and the sheer physical presence of the man now. Great to see that rub off on other squad members!
