Just saw on the BBC we have got rid of 9 players this window (didnt realize it was that many) with Walcott to make it 10. Huge effort from Brands that.

Arsenal are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder Mario Gotze, 26. Dortmund want £18m for the 26-year-old, although Everton and West Ham are also keeping an eye on his situation. (Mirror)

1.) 15 Jun 2018 23:29:25
The lad’s not fulfilled his promise. Not done much for the past few seasons. Can’t see him at Everton myself.

13 Jun 2018 01:50:21
The Mirror stating Rooney being forced out by the club;

Seems a bit harsh as the lad was our leading goal scorer last year.

Tiffa

1.) 13 Jun 2018 07:25:36
I don't think he's being forced out I think he's been told the situation regarding wether he starts games next season, or even if Silva sees him in his plans. Yes he was our leading goalscorer but I think if we could get Maddison he will be an upgrade on Rooney and we've still got Sig to come back to play the number 10 role.

2.) 13 Jun 2018 09:55:05
We weren't happy when Rooney walked out of the club in his prime. He got his wish to come back but it hasn't quite worked.
So thanks very much Wayne, but you chose to walk away all those years ago and maybe this time its the clubs choice that you are no longer up to what is required.

3.) 13 Jun 2018 11:15:16
spot on dave,

4.) 13 Jun 2018 12:17:11
Dave. Top post mate.

5.) 13 Jun 2018 13:44:24
Couldn't agree more Dave.

6.) 13 Jun 2018 15:56:47
It would be dangerous to bring in new management and let a player dictate what happens.

7.) 13 Jun 2018 21:16:24
I agree he isn’t what we need any more and should go for a last pay cheque, but will people ever stop banging on about him “walking out” on us? He left for one of the biggest clubs in the world to work under and learn from one of if not THE world’s most successful club manager. He won countless club trophies and became captain and all time leading goal scorer both for them and his country. Not to mention the fact we were desperate for the money. On top of that it was 14 years ago. People harp on about players like Le Tissier and Shearer making mistakes by playing for their heart and not their careers, yet we still chastise Rooney who did just that as though he got us pregnant with quadruplets and ran off with the midwife while we were in labour.

Move on and look forward.

8.) 13 Jun 2018 21:53:01
Spot on that Windsor.

9.) 14 Jun 2018 07:13:16
Windsor - I am not having a go at him re ‘walking out’ and yes he did win lots of trophies / medals etc. Could he have done that at Everton? Who knows. But my point is that he is apparently unhappy re being ‘forced out’ when reality is he just isn’t what we need any more. Biggest club in world etc or not - he chose to go and there was little we could do about it. This time boot is on the other foot so as I said, thanks Wayne and goodbye.

10.) 14 Jun 2018 20:51:39
We didn’t have the money to put any quality around him, let alone the amount of quality it would have taken to achieve what he did, so he made the right choice for his career.

If he genuinely does feel aggrieved about being told he won’t be a starter then I completely agree with you.

We could do a lot of good with the massively wages he’s on.

13 Jun 2018 01:49:36
Watford will reject any and all approaches made for Richarlison by former Hornets boss Marco Silva, who’s thought to be interested in bringing the Brazilian to Everton. The Blues could sell up to 12 players this summer, so will want significant reinforcements.

Tiffa

1.) 13 Jun 2018 10:15:16
The blues could sell up to 12 players and still have too many players for the 1st team squad. We would need to offload 15-20 players if we wanted to bring in 3-5 quality replacements and have the size of 1st team squad as intimated by Brands in his press conference.

01 May 2018 08:43:42
Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca has rejected an offer from Everton after setting his sights on replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, according to journalist Guillem Balague. (Express)

Tiffa

1.) 01 May 2018 10:03:27
Guillem balague gets most of his scoops wrong I will wait for an official announcement.

2.) 01 May 2018 13:10:55
I did post 2 weeks ago when someone said have a flutter on Arteta, Although this could just be hot air, I said have a feeling Fonsesca will go elsewhere and the smart money should go on Silva, still think it will be silva we get in the Summer if Sam leaves.

3.) 01 May 2018 16:25:33
Sky Sports are reporting that Klopps assistant is in for the Arsenal job so I think it’s going to be a wait and see scenario.
Personally I feel a lot is going to hinge on whether Brands comes in.

Reports online Big Dunc is the issue around hiring a new manager. Not sure the reason but not sure what influence he would have. Any ideas Ed?

P. S old romantic and would love Dunc to get the job.

Tiffa

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with him.}

1.) 18 Jun 2021 14:21:55
It's utter tosh. He would move to one side if it meant a manager coming in. By all accounts he is a fantastic coach.

I have no doubt that the club don't think he is above the hiring of a new manager.

2.) 18 Jun 2021 19:31:15
BJU, you say by all accounts he is a fantastic coach, what accounts are these? People inside the club or things you have heard elsewhere.

3.) 18 Jun 2021 20:33:22
Carlo and his son both had high praise for him.

Where have you heard he is a bad coach? Bob's, cousins, wife's, sisters, brothers, aunts dog walker down Stanley park?

4.) 18 Jun 2021 21:20:46
If he wants to be a manager rather than a coach he needs to start to manage but not at Everton. Of course there are one or two exceptions but managers need experience before they are good, never mind great managers

He needs to leave for his own good and hopefully come back later, stronger and wiser, and a worthy candidate for our manager.

5.) 18 Jun 2021 22:12:09
Nowhere my friend, I haven’t heard he is good bad or indifferent (other than 3rd party mentions like yourself) I’d really like to know just how good he was that’s all. On one hand the club have kept him and he has been promoted over the years, Carlo it seems asked him to follow him to RM, but he also employees his son in his cocking staff and from all accounts (Bayern Munich players he is absolutely pants! ) . On the other hand we have not progressed one iota whilst he has been unemployed as a coach. The likes of Gerard retires, takes a managers job, wins a league within 3 years (at Ferguson’s old club) and is being quoted as a potential manager for us 🤯.
I was genuinely hoping you had some inside information from a player maybe that’s all 👍.

6.) 19 Jun 2021 06:50:27
Maybe he does need to go somewhere else and manage but everyone is having a go at him and yet there's nothing even suggested he's gone for the job or even wants it anymore.

When he took it temporarily last time he said he didn't want it as he thought Everton should be getting the best manager for the job.

Yet here we go, everyone on his back having a go.

On his time at the club he has been a coach not the decision maker on playing style or tactics.

What I can say though he deserves credit for getting 75m for Lukaku as he worked with him, also when he did take over for those few games he changed DCLs playing style to a CF like himself and look at him now.

But no people want to question and even blame him for how managers have failed. Not heard of anyone question anyone else in the coaching staff, nope let's just direct it at him. Pure idiots.

7.) 19 Jun 2021 07:48:46
Good point at the end BJU, he is an easy target for people to focus attention at for sure, also those games when he was in charge we certainly played a more aggressive ‘up and at em’ direct football which the crowd in the stadium certainly seemed to like. If …. (I know it’s a big IF) that was a snapshot of what we would get from him as a manager and he was allowed to bring in his own coaching staff around him would be a very very interesting watch and it would certainly get my backing as I am sick of going the match under the likes of Moyes, SA, RK, MS Ancelloti and years 2/ 3 of Martinez and watching dross. I want to be entertained and I need passion.
Who knows mate it might be the wrong timing but a leap of faith with him might just surprise those as you have mentioned who would complain if we appointed the Lord himself as manager!

8.) 19 Jun 2021 09:05:02
I personally think he burnt his bridges with the Kean decision. I love the guy and if anyone has met him would know he loves the club but more than that he loves the fans and that is not a common occurrence.

I spoke to him a couple of years after he retired and said it wasn't football that made him love the Evertonians it was the support in the tough times he had and he'd die for everyone one of them. He didn't mention prison but it was clear it was that.

So for fans to criticize him is fine, I don't think he'd mind if someone said he was rubbish but I honestly believe he'd simply move to one side to make sure that Everton and fans get what is best for them.

I don't know if he's good enough and to be honest I think there are more fundamental problems, like the identity of what the owners want in terms of football philosophy, but I think his man management will let him down. It's so important now.

27 Apr 2020 09:39:04
Saw this on the Match of the day page. Free transfer starting 11:

1. Hart
2.Meunier
3.Chiellini
4. Vertonghen
5. Kurzawa
6. Lallana
7. D Silva
8. Gotze
9. Willian
10. Cavani
11. Mertens

Surely one or two of these would plug holes in the side and help ease the FFP burden we have?

Tiffa

1.) 27 Apr 2020 10:11:37
Hart would take any offer these days, maybe get him in for my Sunday league team? But the rest? I'd doubt a single one would want to come. Either on the wrong side of 32 and need to go home or take one last pay day in China or MLS or they would regard us as a step down.

2.) 27 Apr 2020 22:09:41
The ones you would take would be on massive wages.

3.) 28 Apr 2020 18:40:15
Massive wages and big signing on fee I suspect.

16 Apr 2020 09:34:01
"Premier League clubs will meet on Friday to discuss whether the season can be completed by 30 June. If put to a vote, 14 of the 20 clubs would need to agree" Guardian.

Could be interesting this, really want the footy to start again but really really don't want them to win the league! Thoughts Bluse?

Tiffa

{Ed002's Note - A vote would not be as simple as that because it is an unknown.}

1.) 16 Apr 2020 11:50:02
Why don’t you want them to win the league? They’ve been head and shoulders above everyone this season in the league. You’re just sounding bitter.
I’ll admit it’ll be insufferable listening to the reds going on about it, but fair play to them they’ve been good this season and it’ll make a change from having to listen about coronavirus everyday.

However I’m not sure how they think they can finish season by 30th June - as I’ve said before how are they going to get medical cover and ambulances on stand by at grounds? These medics and ambulances will be better served elsewhere for the foreseeable - even Chris Sutton (who I don’t rate or like) has said the same.

{Ed025's Note - they do deserve the title dan and if it was us in that position i would be saying the same as the reds, my feeling is that the league will be finished however long it takes as it would be silly to start another one until it does, that may be quite a while of course mate..

2.) 16 Apr 2020 12:43:07
Gingerdan not just sounding bitter mate. I am bitter ;)

3.) 16 Apr 2020 16:45:40
And if it was the other way round and it was Everton top of the league what would the reds be saying?

{Ed002's Note - There is no vote tomorrow on whether or not Liverpool should be handed the league title.}

4.) 16 Apr 2020 17:20:33
Football is obviously totally unimportant at the present time - but surely all Everton fans would want the league to be finished?! As unlikely as it is, we have the chance to qualify for Europe. We can't go down, so finishing the season would give ussomething to gain and nothing to lose?

5.) 16 Apr 2020 18:43:05
I'm all for finishing the league but not if its behind closed doors. It needs to be finished as normal or void this season and let's make sure normality is resumed for next season.
Most of us was looking forward to a summer of international football so why not a summer of Premiership football instead.

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to be finished with crowds attending - and I rather doubt next season will be started with crowds attending. Nobody is looking to void the season - other solutions are being looked at.}

6.) 16 Apr 2020 19:45:08
No crowds will be allowed to watch until there's a effective vaccine available which could take 18 months. Then add however long it takes to vaccinate 60 million people .

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense. There has not been any such agreement and only the most stupid DFs will try and spread this sort of scaremongering.}

7.) 16 Apr 2020 20:17:54
Nowhere do I say an agreement has been made . I'm repeating what a leading epidemiologist said on tv today .

{Ed002's Note - No you are scaremongering nonsense - spreading the usual rubbish.}

8.) 16 Apr 2020 20:41:10
Not attending a football match is nothing to be scared of . There's another article in that famous scaremongering rag The Times . The specialist is Zach Binney if anyone wants to hear from an expert .

9.) 16 Apr 2020 22:09:26
Gingerdan, Bitter and twisted is what I've been since 1985. I would not cry, if the league was voided this year ( it won't) .
Heysel had a catastrophic effect on us. We had just won the league and the Cup winners Cup& then could not perform in Europe for 5 years, winning league again in those 5 years
We then lost the cream of what was the best team in Europe and Howie went to Spain and god rest his soul was never the same manager afterwards.

We have not won a trophy for over 25 years. I would not worry if that lot never won the premiership for another 30 years.

Rant over, pass me the sugar bowl and point me to a rack as a Chiropractor is out in Social Distancing times.

10.) 17 Apr 2020 11:00:28
I was lucky to watch this team in the 80s mate and as far as im concerned howard left us when We needed him most. it was a blanket ban by uefa. in those 5 yrs howard could've lifted the title and domestic cups if he had chosen to stay but instead he chose to jump ship for Bilbao. sorry but I feel he let us down when it mattered most. Just my opinion but I can vividly remember watching us fall into a decline and he let us down most mate.

11.) 17 Apr 2020 14:19:14
as much don't like saying it liverpool do deserve to win the title been best team in premier league this season whether fans like it or not.

12.) 17 Apr 2020 23:44:52
Pauly, I believe his marriage to Everton and the drink had a detrimental effect on his personal life (wife Cynthia) . I think he moved to Spain to give himself some personal space. Unfortunately it never worked professionally either.

13.) 18 Apr 2020 10:10:54
For me I think the players deserve the title for there achievements but as a fan I genuinely don’t know if I would celebrate it or not. I’m completely in two minds about it.

But what they do next is a complete unknown but I’m expecting we won’t see football until August/ September.

I hope we can finish the season as what happens if there is another outbreak next winter and we are in the same boat again? And as someone said above you have the opportunity on qualifying for Europe.

As for heysel, I wasn’t born till 90 so won’t know the full fallout from it. And no words that any Liverpool can say will heal those wounds but I have read of the ‘friendly rivalry’ between Liverpool and Everton and hopefully it can return to that in the future.

14.) 18 Apr 2020 11:54:06
The only realistic way through this is herd immunity whilst protecting the most vulnerable and keeping hospital numbers down.
The majority of us are going to have to get it at some point to build some immunity.

{Ed001's Note - there are some tests that have shown that there is a potential for re-infection, so herd imunity might not work. Until we can be sure, there should be no attempt at trying it.}

15.) 19 Apr 2020 19:54:41
Unless we are directly involved or know someone who is then it is stupid trying to second guess or indeed the League to be meeting and trying for dates that may or may not come. I and most right minded people are more concerned about the idiots out there that believe the rules do not apply to them.

16.) 19 Apr 2020 20:00:39
Like flu this is a virus that is obviously going to need annual vaccine. Mutation, mutation, mutation. Don't try to second guess and let's leave it to those that know or are working on knowing. Above all follow advice.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely BCT..

What about Julian Nagelsmann? Young attacking manager with experience coaching at a high level. Not seen him mentioned but I would have him over Silva.

Tiffa

1.) 12 May 2018 19:47:09
I think bigger clubs will be after him, or stay at Hoffenheim for the CL. Great manager though!

2.) 12 May 2018 20:58:04
Tiffa. He is one of a number of young managers making a name for themselves ( especially in germany) that we could look at to build a dynasty.
I'd prefer a young guy with fresh ideas and the chance to build a dynasty. (a la moyes only with more success)

Think its a age thing Skylark. I grew up watching Everton in the 90's and early 2000's. We weren't winning leagues then buddy, nearly every year was a relegation fight.

The only good thing about being a blue at that time was Duncan Ferguson. that's why I love him, still do and if I found in bed with my wife I will tuck him in and get him coco.

That being said, it was a bitter pill to take when we traveled 6 hours to watch Everton away at Charlton and he gets sent off for punching someone.

Never know, could gets us on a winning run in December (I am allowed to dream! )

I put a post about this last week and I don't have a clue why he doesn't seem to be high on a target list but Silva is?

His record is brilliant and seems to tick all the boxes. My opinion is he would be one of very few managers that the fans could unite under.

To be fair guys I am only basing it on 5 games against the top 6 with a record of winning 3 and drawing 2. I know he has little experience but so has arteta who is getting talked about.
