Apparently Maupay is going back to Brentford on loan with option to buy. With Cannon going as well it’s leaving us very thin up front again. Fingers crossed we’ll start getting confirmation of players coming in very soon.

Revs

1.) 01 Sep 2023 14:56:15
We need another striker regardless, Cannon couldn't get a game and Maupay was awful so i don't think it makes much difference if they go.

2.) 01 Sep 2023 15:46:33
Neither were 1st class eam so. makes little difference to the match day team. Suspect a adaptable forward that can play "across the front" who will be able to plug any Beto DCL absences if required will be on the shopping list.

3.) 01 Sep 2023 17:10:02
I'm far from convinced there is a shopping list. Tomorrow it'll be the "we tried" nonsense and Dyche telling us again that we need to be realistic about our expectations.

4.) 01 Sep 2023 19:10:45
We all know it TB. I am waiting for the 8.15 - Everton make late bid to sign player a on loan which will come to an abrupt end around 9pm when selling club don't have time to get replacement.

23 Jul 2023 16:29:47
Rumours that Cannon joining Preston NE on loan imminently suerly means that there is a striker or two coming in.

I don’t know, we do a lot of stupid things….

10 Jun 2023 09:53:21
Sky sports are reporting that Fulham have made enquiries for Gray. I’m slightly torn on this one, as I thought he was very decent for us last season but I do t think he fitted into Dyche’s system at the end of the season. We really need to see some bodies walking through the door now as well so a decent offer for Gray I’m thinking we should take.

Revs

1.) 10 Jun 2023 10:36:08
If he is a player we can make money on then we should sell Revs. 1.6 mill I think he cost us. Still only 26, so if we could get around 6-8 million that would be cracking business.

I don't rate the lad either. Other than the odd technical strike once every 10 games, he offers nothing.

2.) 10 Jun 2023 12:17:55
He does score 1 in 5, minutes wise.
How much would he go for? Maybe 5-10million.
Could we get another player with that record for less?
Not sure we could without getting lucky with an unknown player from abroad.

3.) 10 Jun 2023 13:56:31
We can't spend much/ any money, we should be exploring all options of strengthening the side. If Fulham want Gray, see if there is any chance of a swap deal for the likes of Wilson, Solomon, Robinson, Tete.

We can't spend much/ any money, so we are going to have to explore all options of strengthening the side. Even if it means shipping 1/ 3 out for the addition of a better player to go into the 11.

Selling Gray and the likes of Holgate, Maupay etc and then getting a decent player in that strengthens the 11 is what we should be aiming for. It also shifts deadwood on high wages out the door, win-win.

I don't rate Gray anymore than a 10/ 15 minute sub against tired legs. He doesn't have a brain, he can't play football and for what athletic attributes he has, he doesn't utilise them anywhere near as consistently as he should. One thing he is consistent at is running down blind alleys.

I think one thing I have always noticed about him as that he doesn't have the stomach to compete. That was perfectly captured on the final day of the season when his whole head and body should have gone through not only that ball, but the net as well. He bottled putting his body on the line for this club.

The fact that this team is and has been riddled with players of that ilk in recent seasons, is why we have been in back to back relegation battles.

4.) 10 Jun 2023 14:08:19
I agree with Revs. Not sure he fits into SD’s system. In which case he’ll probably let him go. An offer in the region of 8-10million would be pretty decent business, so yeah let him go. Need to upgrade though! So hopefully if he does go, there are targets in mind.

5.) 10 Jun 2023 15:05:18
Agree JMW. Sell a few to get a decent player if possible. Add in some youngsters to make the squad. Overall squad should be stronger.

Although I quite like Gray. £10m plus is good business for the club. Keep us off the naughty step too.

6.) 10 Jun 2023 15:10:39
In this day and age a pacy winger who'd walk into any bottom half prem matchday squad must be £10m + remaining contract length is what? In another setup he could score 8+ goals a season and assist too. I like him and he works his socks off if poor decision making but that's probably because we don't have a striker to help him in the final 3rd. He'd be great at somewhere like Palace. Obviously he's not at a club where he can consistently shine so cash in and use money.

7.) 10 Jun 2023 15:15:45
I would sell him if we can get anywhere near £10 million for him time for change in our Team.

8.) 10 Jun 2023 16:43:13
I sometimes find some of these posts quite strange. Last season the general consensus was we don't have good enough forward players that provide goals. So with that in mind why would anyone want to sell a player that is one of our top scorers and is on a small wage compared to the majority of the squad. He would in my opinion be a really good squad player as he is okay on the right and reasonable good on the left. If we sold him for 10m not only are we going to have to replace him but can we be sure a replacement would get the goals? I personally would look to replace Iwobi much higher wages and no goals to speak of plus we would probably get more for Iwobi and if he doesn't sign a new contract may walk for a free next year. For me if we can we need to get rid of Gomes, Ali, Gbamin, Maupaye, Keane, Holgate and Iwobi if he doesn't sign his new contract hopefully on reduced terms. If we can get rid of that lot then maybe sell Gray.

9.) 10 Jun 2023 18:10:53
Make a fair point tbf Sa. You are right, just sell all them and Gray because we would sure be better off for it.

10.) 10 Jun 2023 20:31:29
We need better as he’s one of many players in our Team which didn’t step up when needed, simply we need better players and certainly do not want a repeat of our last season. Most of our Team were well well below average,

11.) 10 Jun 2023 21:32:35
Totally agree with your post sa90. Get all those players gone including Iwobi whether he's on long term contract or not. All before Gray.

I'd like to keep Gray but a combination of the situation the club is in and the way Dyche plays may be better to sell. If we get enough. Like is said, I agree there is plenty I'd like to see go before him.

12.) 10 Jun 2023 22:21:05
Can we replace him for £2m?
Almost certainly not.
We’re already short of attackers.

13.) 10 Jun 2023 22:23:44
Don’t dilly dally! Sell Demarai Gray for a good profit.
That’s how u run a football club.
Re-invest on another player we can sell in 2/ 3 years to make a profit!
Likewise Onana - he might be a world beater in years but if we can make 10/ 15 million in a season we need we need to take!
We need to learn. All this BS about spending 30/ 35 million on a striker! We are just repeating same errors.
We are broke and ffp have us by the balls!
We have to invest in a proper scouting/ recruitment team and improve year by year.
Rumours Coventry might sell their striker for 12-15 million, he’s the one we should go for could he won’t be getting 100k + in wages and either increases in value or we sell at minimum loss.

14.) 11 Jun 2023 08:54:07
That would mean losing Gray and Iwobi and have no one to play on the left or as back up.
Sounds crazy to me.

15.) 12 Jun 2023 08:46:43
You mean on the right Smit666. Pretty sure McNeil is the number 1 for the left.

Well both Gray and Iwobi are out of contract in a year. Are of similar age and can talk to clubs in January if they don't sign a contract this summer. So something is going to have to give and soon.

16.) 12 Jun 2023 09:00:33
Smit666 I agree selling Gray at this time would be foolish. Iwobi on the other hand If he dosen't sign a new deal he will have year left so he could go for nothing. He is also one of our highest earners so it make sense to think about moving him on just in case. I hope we have already identified the RM/ W as an area we need to strengthen and have plans in place to do so. He has already been at the club for the length of his initial contract we should have paid of the initial fee paid and any funds should be able to go to the squad. We will loose a significant amount overall in the deal but we seem to be a club that buys high and sells low or gives away players for free. I do think Iwobi may be able to be sold for £10m+ which is much better than the £2-£5M we would probably get for Gray.

17.) 12 Jun 2023 12:42:30
The trend these days appears to be one were players now run down their contracts. Thus making even more money when they sign for someone else.

18.) 12 Jun 2023 17:38:40
That's a lot of it Brassingtonblue1. Although it's the same for all clubs. Both have a year left and are considered at "prime age" in their career.

Personally I'd sell Iwobi, if Gray signed a contract. Get more for Iwobi and in my opinion there is very little if any difference in both players. Realistically both could leave over the next year.

18 Jan 2023 14:48:26
I’m beginning to think that there’s a takeover imminent of the club. My reason for thinking this is because the way the board have acted recently towards the fans suerly there’s no way back as far as the relationship between the board and the fans, coupled with the transfer inactivity and total silence from the board other than to criticise the fans. I can’t see any other scenario other than a takeover.

Revs

{Ed025's Note - lets hope so revs..

1.) 18 Jan 2023 15:03:29
my thoughts exactly
desperately need players, yet none imminent, nothing from the board of note,
i hope we are taken over by someone with a football brain who will rid us of all deadwood, inc certain board members.

2.) 18 Jan 2023 14:58:58
Yep was thinking on those lines myself Revs.

??.

3.) 18 Jan 2023 15:11:39
Far simpler than that, there are no bridges left.

4.) 18 Jan 2023 15:29:23
Agreed. Shareholders Assoc tabling no confidence in board will accelerate moves to sell. That and in the search for a minority owner of the new stadium proving difficult are ingrediants for current owner to sell and cut.

5.) 18 Jan 2023 15:57:52
Could be the case. It does feel like there’s no way back for the owner or the board. Regardless of our current plight, there are still only so many premier league clubs and not many with a stadium that will match ours when it’s finished. If it’s happening, let’s hope it happens soon. No way a new owner/ board would keep Lampard, he’s just waiting for a pay off.

6.) 18 Jan 2023 16:06:13
Well that’s a good bit of news if true, well cheered me up, Please Please be true.

7.) 18 Jan 2023 16:24:01
More like what I said GB, sorry. Moshri wants his cake and BK wants to eat it. Life of Brian, when I think if BK.

8.) 18 Jan 2023 18:47:12
Scary thought could be waiting for West Ham to sack Moyes for us to then sack Frank and hire Moyes ?.

{Ed025's Note - i bloody hope not..

9.) 18 Jan 2023 19:08:49
Only Carling would do that surely mate ??.

10.) 18 Jan 2023 19:31:41
Come on lads seriously who on earth would buy this poison chalice right now I now I wouldn't if I was looking to buy a club.

{Ed025's Note - great history, great fan base, new stadium on the horizon and an owner who looks like he wants out, a good prospect for a very rich potential buyer who is looking for a project?..

11.) 18 Jan 2023 21:29:42
Very rich people want a premier league project ed not a championship project, an no point having a great new stadium an Great fan base if u can't put cheeks on the seats every week in the championship. I'd love to be wrong but I've got a horrible feeling this Is the year we take the drop ?.

{Ed025's Note - i have a similar feeling shakey and really think our luck has ran out this time, the supporters will stick by the club though and life wont end even if we go down mate, it will of course seem like that for a while but this is EVERTON and like a phoenix we will rise from the ashes..

01 Sep 2022 17:32:02
Got this feeling that Broja will be the attacker that we sign. Will start moving quickly as soon as Auba signs for Chelsea.

Bloody hell if so what a window!

{Ed025's Note - I can’t see the broja one but it’s been a great window for us PHH..

2.) 01 Sep 2022 17:53:18
Hope you are mate I have wanted him in since the start.

3.) 01 Sep 2022 18:04:07
Can see Broja, the are mutterings of another striker but not sure who.

4.) 01 Sep 2022 18:00:18
Ed 25?
I agree but a striker would be icing on cake! Any info?

{Ed025's Note - no PHH. I suppose we could do a last minute deal but nothing is standing out at the moment mate..

5.) 01 Sep 2022 18:33:27

7.5 million for Cannon doesn’t seem a great deal when you consider what Chelsea have just forked out for Palmer. Hope we are busy today. Would love us to get Smith-Rowe from Arsenal.

Revs

1.) 01 Sep 2023 11:03:55
Revs can’t compare the 2 deals.

Cole Palmer is miles ahead of cannon in his development and would walk into most premier league squads whereas Cannon is struggling to get into ours.

Chelsea aren’t afraid to splash the cash, whereas a lot of teams are trying to be more prudent. Leicester recently relegated and probably will come back up however they need to be savvy with their spending just in case they don’t come back up.

2.) 01 Sep 2023 11:23:55
Palmer got games for the treble winners, Cannon not deemed good enough for relegation fodder. 7.5m is good business hope we get a decent sell on clause with it though.

23 Aug 2023 20:52:03
I’d love some positive news for a change! I cannot understand how the FM and BK can still believe that they are the best people to take the club forward. We so desperately need a clean slate it’s untrue.

Revs

1.) 23 Aug 2023 22:24:09
Doesn’t matter who in charge, Nobody can take the club forward without money, right now we haven’t got a pot to piss in.

2.) 23 Aug 2023 22:44:33
Its that simple the guy is a businessman who wants a return on his investment. He owns the club and doesn't want to sell it for less than the money he has paid in unless he really has to.

04 Jul 2023 14:23:53
Yesterday we were offering 40 million to meet a players contract clause (albeit in increments) but Today we cannot afford 3 million on a player ?‍♂️ I think I’m just going to ignore these rumours until the end of the window and then see where we are.

Sorry, may I ask who you are referring to re £3mill? Just curious, cheers.

4.) 05 Jul 2023 06:39:55
Probably the Leeds forward.

5.) 05 Jul 2023 09:23:09
You’d hope we have a max we’re prepared to pay for any player. We’ve been held to ransom too many times. Once the Saudi’s are offering silly wages, may as well move on to other targets.

Take this as you want but, I’m an Everton fan living in Swansea. My freinds, who are Swansea fans reckon they were speaking with Ellis Sims today in Swansea. They said he’s signing for them but again, I was not there so cannot comment either way. Just putting out there what I’ve been told. Could be a make weight in the Pirroe deal ?‍♂️.

Yeah let’s just sack another manager and let another manager come in who’s already set up to fail and then give them a couple of months and then sack them again. We can’t just keep on sacking managers left right and centre. Lampard has inherited an average squad of players and the players who are half decent are constantly injured. I’d rather us focus all our negativity towards the board, as they have been the only constants throughout all this years of turmoil. They are the ones that need to go. That’s my ten pence worth anyway for what it’s worth.
