Wanted to ask the Ed's on any insight/ opinions to transfers. Is it feasible that clubs could be doing business at this moment, the rumours are rife but I don't feel that invested in any as surely there is no way to fully complete any transfers in the same way that people round the UK can't be taken on in new jobs etc never mind offering contracts out to players in the middle of all this. I would also assume everyone's spending will massivemy curve as they won't expect to make as much money in the next 12 months, assuming that we cancel/ end the season whatever happens and look to start up again in August/ september, can we expect to see much spending at all from anyone?
Do any of the rumours have any substance to them? In typical Everton fashion linked with every man and his dog just because of their slight connections to Carlo.

{Ed002's Note - Transfers this summer will split into (a) those already agreed and completed subject to paperwork (e.g. Hakim Ziyech (Ajax to Chelsea), Nicolo Barella (Cagliari to Inter Milan), Alvaro Morata (Chelsea to Atletico Madrid) and Trincao (Braga to Barcelona)); (b) the high end transfers several cash rich clubs would like to get over the line if possible (e.g. Mbappe, Sancho, Havertz etc.) although people will try and negotiate reductions in the cost of overall packages (e.g. the overall cost of Sancho is pretty extreme); (c) there are the then the higher-profile clubs that will need to horse trade by looking to spread out payments if they can, include players in sales or clubs that have the sell to buy (e.g. Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are good examples); (d) the more run of the mill transfers where players are recruited to gain improvements in the sides, replace retiring and out of contract players etc..

You will certainly see less movement and less spend in the lower tiers as the money won't be there. Many will look to sell a player or two to the higher leagues to keep themselves out of trouble (e.g. Brad Young (G) has a move from Billingham Town to a Premier League side agreed already). And many PL and Championship sides are once again looking at players from the lower tiers.

In terms of transfer fees, we will still see a few very expensive transfers, you will see players having to stay where they are for another year, you will see efforts to reduce overall costs particularly agent fees - and across mainland Europe you will see even more horse trading than normal.

Clubs that have FFP problems (e.g. Everton and Aston Villa) should see a relaxation this year and should take the opportunity to clean up their act or all they are doing is delaying what could hit them very hard.

I don't know which rumours you are talking about in respect of Everton but if you have a specific player in mind I will try and answer.}

Hi Ed good read there, I have seen a few links to Sangare with his club being relegated, I suspect numerous clubs would be looking but are we in the mix?

{Ed002's Note - Ibrahim Sangare would be a Gbamin replacement and I am not aware of any approach from Everton.}

2.) 06 May 2020 14:06:20
Thanks for the reply Ed.

Mainly players like Gabriel, Everton, James Rodriguez, Lozano and Allan. Obviously would be great to get these people in but can’t imagine any of them are actually likely given the situation.

{Ed002's Note - To give you something to ponder:

Everything up in the air whist Carlo assesses what he needs but I expect a CB and S will be the priority after a clear out.

Djibril Sidibe (RB) Player wants out but Everton would like to take up their option but would need the player to be persuaded to stay - Monaco had Milan saying they will take him on a loan to buy in January and they could look again in the summer.
Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) will only be sold with a buy-back clause and €25M - plenty of interest but Barcelona do not see him as good enough - was available in January and is being offered around to clubs including Everton, Inter, Manchester United. But Milan have had talks but concerns over injuries saw a lower bid made and rejected. Interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton. His agent has offered him to Napoli as a Kalidou Koulibaly replacement. Roma are being messed around over another player and have turned to declare an interest in J-CT.
Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) Lille didn't want to sell in January although Arsenal pushed - the player has signed a new contract, but Arsenal could look to him in again the summer if they do not sign Mari - else they are overrun with CBs. Lazio have made their interest known as the seek a replacement for Luiz Felipe (CB) but he is not their first choice - although their first choice may well be heading elsewhere. Napoli know that they may lose Kalidou Koulibaly (CB) in the summer and have an interest in the player. Southampton and Everton have both sent scouts to watch the player with Everton notifying Lille that they are very interested in taking the player in the summer – but there has been no “done deal” as many of the Everton fans think. Chelsea and Spurs have both looked and Chelsea fans have, like the Everton fans, convinced themselves a deal has already been done and that has led to abuse on the site. In reality, he is not be top of the list of replacements if one of the existing CBs leave (which is actually possible) although Chelsea have accepted that their two preferred choices are very probably not achievable. Spurs have a bigger problem in that they have an aging defensive squad supplemented by players who are only perhaps borderline good enough. Spurs have other options they are looking at but could prioritise Magalhaes. Prior interest of PSG was thought to have gone but with their financial issues limiting their ability to spend without sales - but it may just be back.
Mohammed Salisu (CB) Norwich are very keen on taking the Valladolid centre back in January but may face opposition from Southampton and Everton. Manchester United and Valencia have been credited with scouting the player by his club, but they have also said the are in talks with Atletico Madrid.
Ferro (CB) an advisor to Everton has continued to push for Ferro and the club may well approach Benfica after again sending scouts to watch him - this is not aligning well with the expectations of CA.

Teun Koopmeiners (DM/CM) Milan have had an approach for Koopmeiners rebuffed after losing out on three other DM players. They do not have the funds to push to force a sale. As for Everton I would need to try and check, but if there is interest he would be a Brands choice and he is a very well thought of young player. Against a move happening are a number of points: (a) I am not sure that AZ Alkmaar would be open to selling their captain; (b) he plays in a side which plays a style of football Brands would like to instil throughout the entire club - but he is not being supported by the club in making that happen, and having Carlo as a different thinking coach won't help that quest; (c) if Gbamin is fit where does he fit in - although I see the argument that he would be an ideal Morgan Schneiderlin replacement - but will that give him sufficient game time. So a maybe, but I will try and find out more.
Morgan Sanson (CM) interest may have left with Silva - but the lady from Marseille says that Carlo Ancelotti has shown interest in the player before and perhaps there will be further contact.
Matias Vecino (CM) and that would be Carlo Ancelotti's pick. However, I very much doubt the player would be interest in such a move.
Ricky-Jade Jones (CM/AM) A kiddie from Peterborough that Leeds, Arsenal and Manchester United looked to strike a deal for in January. Spurs, Liverpool and Everton have all had scouts watch him as well. Leeds will push if they get promoted. Peterborough will look to hold on to him.

Cengiz Under (RW) was injured at the start of the season and has not performed well since - Roma wanted him moved on in January - Kluivert and Zaniola have proven to be adequate replacements although JK is really a LW. CU's agents are hawking him around having spoken with several English sides as they are expected to pay more. An option exists with Everton for an exchange involving Moise Kean (S).
Adam Ounas (RW) on loan at Nice but Everton have been watching - Nice has an option to buy but they will likely not take it up.
Gabriel Veron (RW) kiddie from Brazil that has been watched at youth-level by plenty of European sides with Everton and Braga turned away from the door in January and a very steep asking price. Edu has certainly looked at the kid a few months ago but Arsenal do not have that sort of money to spend on a youth player who cannot move this year unless the transfer window is moved. Barcelona and another side have looked to a deposit and leaving him where he is for another year.

Everton Soares (LW) Lots of clubs have been looking at Everton Soares but none were interested at the Gremio asking price of €120M nor at the for sale price of around €80M. Now Gremio, who have financial concerns, are looking to get €40M and he is being hawked around European clubs again. Over hyped with an agent happy to let a third-party offer him around to club. Clubs are allowed to speak with the player if they are sufficiently interested. Everton were approached as Carlo Ancelotti was keen when in charge at Napoli (who have also been approached) – but I would not hold your breath about a move to Everton as LW is not a position to be filled. The player himself appears to be some sort of half-wit. Borussia Dortmund and Monaco were also approached.
Yeferson Soteldo (LM/RW) he would be a shorter than Bernard replacement for Bernard - Everton have looked but it would make no sense to buy him. Inter have a long-term interest but don't like the €35M being asked. The player wants to join Manchester United.
Hirving Lozano (LW/S/RW) has not scored enough goals at Napoli and has been used out of his natural position as a striker recently. Napoli are open to selling but could ask a premium price from Everton – and it could be a dumb move given his mojo is on the wane – but he is liked by CA who could get better out of him and he is versatile and not simply another winger. West Ham interest has likely gone for now, PSG interest has gone, Wolves has not made any approach to his club or his agent but have watched him. Possible at the right price although space needs to be made.

Joe Gelhardt (F) Wigan kiddie who has attracted a lot of attention from Premier League sides who had trials with Liverpool and Everton when very young. Spurs and Chelsea have both spoken with Wigan about the player, but both came away thinking he should stay where he is for a year or two to develop - and Chelsea have a much-preferred option. Manchester United have sent an ex-player to look at him and I understand Liverpool, West Brom and Everton have also been scouting him. Another one to perhaps keen an eye on and I would not rule out a move to Everton.
Donyell Malen (F/W) rather raw Arsenal reject who has done well at PSV, is well liked if a little moody, but may not be able to make the step up. Rather unlikely if there is interest at the €50M asking price at all. I would doubt PSV would be open to dealing with Everton at anything other than a premium price, but this may well be something coming from an advisor rather than Brands. Very unlikely.
Josh Maja (S) Everton have watched Maya on several occasions this season. Crystal Palace, Celtic and West Ham are also interested in seeing if a deal could be done.
Sardar Azmoun (S) was subject to a very public dispute between Rubin Kazan and Rostov which ended in favour of Rostov in 2016. Stoke had agreed a transfer with Rubin Kazan prior to the CAS proceedings but were aware that it would be difficult to make a case for a work permit. Everton had also looked at the player in the past but, like Stoke, knew the Work Permit situation would be a problem. Whilst playing for RK in 2014 it was suggested that Brendan Rodgers was keen on the player, but I cannot confirm that. Rubin Kazan received a little over €2M in compensation at the ruling of CAS and have no recourse for appeal - eventually signing him on a "free transfer". Marseille watched the player at the start of last season, but he opted for a move to Zenit - and they remain concerned that his best form comes in International sides who are lowly ranked. Antalyaspor, Villareal, Wolves, Liverpool, Leverkusen and Konyaspor all attended matches to watch Azmoun during his last season with Rostov (2018) but the player made clear he did not want to move at that time. Atletico, who won't have had the WP issues dropped some interest they had in the player. There has also been interest from Celtic and Lazio. He had a better time with Zenit last year and Napoli, when CA was coach, took note. Everton could see Azmoun as a viable Kean replacement but need to make sure a WP could be obtained. I think a move to England is unlikely, but possible.
Mohamed Sankoh (S) young Dutch kiddie of serious interest to Atletico Madrid - additionally Chelsea spoke with Stoke about him when discussing another player and Everton have made an enquiry.

Thanks Ed. Really interesting read. I literally laughed out loud at “the player himself seems to be some sort of half-wit”.

Very interesting seems to be a lot of South America based talents popping up there, do we have more of a scouting network out there with Brands or is it more about clubs and agents hawking their players about to drive up interest and sales?
Seeing this Nicolás De La Cruz cropping up, don’t know much about him or where the interest comes from.

{Ed002's Note - There are not a lot of SA players and it would be no more than scouting U17 and U20 tournaments. Nicolas De La Cruz (AM) Manchester City spoke to River Plate about the player but stepped back - concerns he may not get a work permit and even though well liked, a reluctance to take on someone who is not HG and never will be as padding. Roma has an interest in the player. As for Everton I am not aware of interest and there would be language and culture issues - it makes no sense and is very unlikely.}
