Will cost a lot of money for a 29 year old. We have 2 good centre backs, an inconsistently incredible centre back and Holgate. If we are going to get another centre back to play alongside Godfrey Iโ€™d want someone a bit younger.

2.) 25 Mar 2021 16:45:47
I like that back four Evocallum mate.

3.) 25 Mar 2021 16:54:35
Swan come on 29 30 in summer same age as vvd age is just a number i'd have him tomorrow he is a machine he is the best around. saprised you would want someone younger when we have godfrey also he might play 3 at the back with wing backs.

4.) 25 Mar 2021 21:21:47
Good shout Ec, hope itโ€™s true.

5.) 25 Mar 2021 22:22:59
Van Dijk would cost a lot more than Koulibaly and is a much better defender. Assuming he comes back from injury the same.

Iโ€™d like to have 2 good young centre backs instead of Godfrey and a guy whoโ€™d cost a lot of money, be on massive wages and weโ€™d have to replace in 3 years

Heโ€™s a good centre back, not a world beater.

6.) 25 Mar 2021 23:40:11
I think that will be the plan for next season, as is the trend for top teams at the moment. Also see them signing a replacement for Delph, Besic, Bolasie, Bernard, Tosin.

My picks for the summer would be break the Bank and go for;
Aaron, Koulibaly, Rabiot, Grealish, aand Mbappe (kidding)

7.) 26 Mar 2021 18:16:49
I'm not saying I'm fussed either way if he comes or not but to say VVd is a better defender is bonkers.
Koulibaly has been one of the best in Europe for the last 5 or 6 years.
VVD has had 1-2 seasons as a world class defender. He may become better than Koulibaly in time but he needs to prove it consistently for a few more years yet.

Am happy who we are linked with so far. But i hope we get Doucoure as he was my first choice he has the legs and is a fighter. Any of the eds no if we are still in to get him sorry if its already been asked ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

Same here Evo, he is the one I want more than the other two, all three would be the icing on the cake.

05 Dec 2019 22:18:01
Can any off the edds tell us a bit about this vitor pereira and is it a good choice never heard much about him?

Evocallum

{Ed002's Note - Vitor Pereira would be the choice of the second and most recent advisor - he is a journeyman coach who might be interested in taking thge job for a year or two - given the first choice isn't. He is coaching a club in China right now - I don't recall which.}

1.) 06 Dec 2019 11:28:37
Whoโ€™s the first choice that you mention Ed?

2.) 06 Dec 2019 11:38:18
Shangai current Club.

baffled how you got a thumbs down that fraud must be the worst appointment the club have ever made in 14 games 11 teams have had more shots against us when we lose its the players fault when we win it's all down to him he complained on Sat that the difference was they had a goalscorer no the difference was they went for the win whereas all we wanted was a draw the and if he is banking on home form to get us over the line well we still have Liverpoo city Southampton Newcastle and Brighton non of those games will be easy as Liverpoo and City will destroy us and the others at least try to win games it's going to be squeaky bum time and if we stay up he should be sacked straight after the last game.

I remember a lot if us saying when carlo first come that we need 3 years to challenge. Its his first full season in charge he has only brought in 4 players and them 4 players are arguably are best 4 players doucore, james, allan, godfrey .
Not to mention he probably getting the best out of dcl and keane. Injures this season also have been against us . The way carlo wonts to play he can't because of the type of players he has at his disposal once he has the type of players he wants i think we will see a different team. a lot of players are just not good enough and are inconsistent.
Davies, holgate, gomes, siggurdson, iwobi, bernard these players lack quality but carlo has to play them because he has no other option. a lot will say look to the youth we did that with gordon an look what happened he was not ready. Blaming the manger in his first full season also in a C.V. is just clueless let the man build because if we start to show anger at the manger and he leaves we will not get one as good as him again mangers will avoid us . Bring on the transfer window and get some players with quality in and get rid of the dead wood who can't perform.

1.) 03 May 2021 09:53:08
Very sensible post Evo. Iโ€™m not saying Carlo is above criticism, but I agree that more time is required to judge him fairly. I think the quality in the squad has improved under him and will continue to.

2.) 03 May 2021 10:30:13
I am not saying get rid of Carlo but to say no other managers would come here is nonsense. Itโ€™s all about money, give them enough and they will come. Letโ€™s face it itโ€™s the only job I know where you can fail and walk away with a hefty wedge.

3.) 03 May 2021 10:49:07
Totally agree Evo and JB makes a very good point Carlo is not above criticism. I personally think he made a big mistake with the selection and formation for the Villa game and was extremely disappointed to say the least with the performance of some of the players, well eight of them anyway. What I don't understand is that some fans want total change nearly every season we don't get into Europe the expectation for instant results only causes more disruption. Since Moyes left we have had 4 permanent manger of which only one has had two seasons in charge. If we got rid of Carlo what manager would want to come to Everton knowing that they had a season and a half to get into Europe with a limited budget and squad not good enough to get there. It will be the managers that do not have a long term strategy look to get as much money from there tenure as possible and play football that tries not to loose. Now I though we had already been down that road and didn't like the outcome but I could be wrong.

4.) 03 May 2021 13:25:55
I think of all the things that has hampered us this season, a complete lack of consistency of first 11 is the biggest issue. Whether that be down to CA choosing to rotate or more down to injuries we can debate but it is an issue. Yes all sides have had injuries but rather than having a single crisis we just seem to have suffered key injuries all season.

We started with full back issues, then once they got fit we lost Allan. James has been in and out, then as soon as Allan gets back Dacoure goes. We lost DCL over Xmas which is a terrible time to lose you main man. I mean how often has CA been able to call on his first choice 11? How many other sides have been forced to field benches with 3 goalkeepers and a bunch of u18s?

For me this summer has to be about bringing in fit, mobile, pacey players. We can afford to sign any more 'players in their prime' who suffer from inconsistency/ injuries - looking at you coutninho!

1.) 17 Apr 2021 07:36:27
I was a bit drunk but I do t recall Davies doing too much wrong that game definitely feels like a loss the same way the palace game felt.

2.) 17 Apr 2021 09:18:34
Tbh a-lot saying davies had a good game. I don't think he did his passing was awful crying for dacoure.
Loads blaming keane for first goal yet it all come from iwobi failing to make a simple 5 yard pass to james. He passes the ball to ther cm and a attack is them formed an then a goal l. Alex iwobi is the worst winger i have seen for us to get rid of lookman an pay ยฃ30 mil for this lad is daylight robbery he is that bad i'd rather have coleman on the wing. Also holgate was poor i prefer godfrey an keane.
Carlo has to buy a quality RB RW ST asap we lack attacking down the wings .
Also Richarlison was poor yesterday starting to annoy me him and dcl missing simple chances and its costing us points.

3.) 18 Apr 2021 09:38:36
I do think Davies looks better in the Alan role which is what he's been training on and watching videos to try and replicate him maybe that's what he will do in the future I do remember David Ancelotti saying TD is the most improved player since they came to the club.

4.) 19 Apr 2021 18:21:10
Poor Tom never going to get a break improved from last season and still 22 yet he's finished with some fans I seriously think that by the time Allan's contract finishes he'll be up his standard he's improved tackling passing reading of game this season if he improves same over next two seasons he'll be top player not forgetting pass to release Richy for 2nd goal in Derby best pass by Everton player this season thinking about the game time and pressure on him.

14 Apr 2021 11:19:23
Clueless if fans think carlo is the problem.
If an right he had brought in 4 players and all 4 are possibly are best 4 allan, james, doucore, godfrey.
We have gota give the manger time at least 3 season to build a squad he is still stuck with a lot of the useless players other 4 mangers have struggled to get results with. Also injury's have been bad this season. Ill stand by the manger as i think he will bring quality in to blame him is stupid
Pep would struggle to get them few of the waste of spaces playing In r team. Also people are forgetting we are still in with a chance for europa tha would be a really good 1st season for a manger with average players.

Evocallum

1.) 14 Apr 2021 13:59:11
To even be mentioned in the same sentence as Europe is itself an achievement, sure some players have bottled the big moments but they have been bottling them for years, this won't change and we will go over this old chestnut till the team has seen significant change, not just four players. I get the anger but we need support not bitterness.

2.) 14 Apr 2021 14:58:23
Don't always agree with McNulty, but on this he is right. Lack of urgency and trying has been absent for weeks. Why do players show on the training ground but disappear once the serious stuff begins! Theirs is a job like any other and like any other of conscience you would think they would be genuine in giving of their best. Have to wonder if Carlo tells them a few home truths.

3.) 14 Apr 2021 15:22:26
Just playing Devils advocate here, but of the 4 players we signed the 2 best are Dacoure and Godfrey - they were Brands signings. Pretty much the first time Brands had been left to make his own decisions too. He also nabbed Nkoukou. Allan and James have been good - when available.

4.) 14 Apr 2021 19:00:50
Bill - problem is whatever they do they will get paid.

Until we put something like performance related pay in, weโ€™ll always have the players who do the bare minimum.

Also in the changing room how do you motivate a room full of millionaires?

5.) 15 Apr 2021 12:26:01
What we've been missing, probably since Neville left, has been a proper leader on the pitch.

6.) 15 Apr 2021 13:15:35
I'm not saying Ancelotti is to blame because our squad is woeful. But interesting read on a major sporting website. "Since that good start, Everton have performed like a relegation candidate according to the underlying metrics. Only five teams have collected fewer expected points (xP) per game than Ancelottiโ€™s side since the 20th of October. Over their last 25 Premier League games, Everton have averaged a pathetic 1.16 xGF per game.

Injuries have played their part, with Lucas Digne โ€“ a key creator โ€“ and James Rodriguez both missing time, but that doesnโ€™t explain the negative tactics now deployed by Ancelotti. "

We've employed some weird tactics at times (think Newcastle away with the midfielders floating as full backs, Brighton away with a back 6) so I don't think Ancelotti is entirely blameless in yet another woeful season.

7.) 15 Apr 2021 17:07:55
Is Carlo or his son picking the team and tactics?

8.) 15 Apr 2021 20:53:27
There was rumour that his son was taking a more prominent role in tactics, training etc! If true surely unacceptable from a man on ยฃ11 mill annually.

9.) 15 Apr 2021 21:05:03
It's been a strange season for every team but I wouldn't call it woeful. There's been some shocking performances and some good ones and, bar City, it's been the same for most teams. We're a point behind our total from last season with 8 games left. I don't think we will finish 12th or below, so that's an improvement on last season.
For the first time since Moyes left, we've got a manager that will be here for a good few years and will build something. So no more transitions and going back to square one. CA and MB will improve the squad over the next few windows so we have plenty to look forward to.
There's a new stadium on the horizon, we have a billionaire owner and his best mate likes to sponsor all things Everton. This mate also has a few quid to spend! It might just be me, but I think we're in the best shape we've been in for years and the future looks promising.

{Ed077's Note - Man City were very poor at the start of the season too.}

10.) 16 Apr 2021 13:46:39
True enough, ed077, easy to forget with the way they've played in the latter part of the season.

{Ed077's Note - yes it seems to have been forgotten. City struggled for even longer time then us (Man Utd) to climb up the table. They just kept on winning once they got going.}

11.) 16 Apr 2021 15:19:24
I suppose it helps having 3 players for every position, ed077, they were bound to find the right starting 11 in the end!

{Ed077's Note - and a top coach in Pep.

05 Apr 2021 20:01:33
said it so many times dcl can't finish to many easy chances go to waste if he is not 3 yards out he doesn't score. Tom davies is one of the worse midfielders av seen on years brings nothing. If we won't to challenge with the top 4 dcl will not be then answer not good enough.

Evocallum

1.) 05 Apr 2021 20:21:28
Thought Davies was one of our better players today.

2.) 05 Apr 2021 20:23:53
What was you watching ๐Ÿ™ˆ he was awful.

3.) 05 Apr 2021 20:43:46
Davies wasn't the reason. Admittedly to me he started to go back into his old ways of gifting possession back to the opposition with poor passing. As mentioned on the live chat though he doesn't get much help to his credit. Allan and Doucoure would be the first choice pairing if not injured.

It all boils down to lacklustre finishing today and not being clinical enough. That is the reason we dropped 2 points.

Nothing to do with the manger. Pathetic that you can evan blame him point your finger at the players nor good enough and will never be good enough past mangers bad signings. Iwobi, gomes, bernard, sigurdson, holgate all average at best . Ill judge the manger when he has bought players in and has a full 11 of his choice.
