Hi eds, hope you are all ok. Do you know if it is possible that Carlo could walk away, I know there is gossip in the papers but also hearing that the board will not sign Begovic as a GK and he is ready to walk because of this?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for Begovic by Everton and discussions are going on between Bournemouth and another side about him. Ben Foster might prove a better option. You need to remember that Carlo Ancelotti only joined Everton because of the significant saray they offered him. He has now changed all of the support staff, so he has what he needs but he knows that Everton are an unattractive club as they cannot offer European football - and that is an issue which is difficult to overcome when recruiting players. The clubs has a decent number of players that were recruited because of two advisers "helping" Mr Moshiri and these need thinning out - which is very difficult in these times. The club also has FFP issues which need to be addressed. Brands is responsible for much of this and is overall in charge of recruitment. I cannot see CA walking away this summer.}

Thanks for the reply ed, really hope he stays for a few seasons, we need stability.

2.) 24 Aug 2020 16:48:31
I doubt Carlo will walk out on £11 Million a year wage, at the same time hamper his sons progress at Everton.

16 Jan 2020 18:34:19
Hi ed002, just wondering if you have heard if the Zouma to Everton could potentially be revisited in the summer? I understand from below that Everton made errors in their pursuit previously, has this left the deal dead or is it potentially still an option for the player and clubs?

{Ed002's Note - Kurt Zouma - Everton need to talk directly to Chelsea to see what their options are on Zouma - and not through a third party which they tried previously. It looks unlikely anything like that will happen right now - but the option is there.}

1.) 16 Jan 2020 20:51:25
Thanks for the response ed. I think he should be a target as the defence was better with him in it and he is better than most of the CBs we have been linked with.

2.) 17 Jan 2020 00:11:08
Ed002 as you rate unlikely. Other names are more realistic choices? Thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I have mentioned hat I know.}

01 Jun 2019 08:52:08
Hi eds, hope you are all ok. I've seen rumours from France stating we have opened talks with Lyon about Bertrand Traore, I think he would be a good replacement for Lookman, do you have any info on this? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Lyon have said they have had a number of approaches and have reminded one club that another side still has an option on the player. They are likely to be reluctant sellers as Maxwel Cornet is available.}

1.) 01 Jun 2019 11:32:35
Cheers mate thank you. congratulations about Wednesday as well!

2.) 01 Jun 2019 14:50:49
Not convinced he is the striker we need. But. Who am I?

3.) 01 Jun 2019 21:41:48
I agree he’s not the striker but I think if and it’s a big IF we are in for him it’s the right wing position he would be considered for not the striker role although he could rotate there I guess
Similarly to what you said, what do I know 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Hi eds hope you are all ok and fellow blues. Exciting times if the rumours are to be true, just a question for the eds, is it safe to assume we have got clubs to move some of our out of favour players on with the fact we are spending some cash again? I know its been covered we have to sell to buy but I was expecting more to leave before we started bringing players in? 3 great signings if we can pull them off though, i'm sure most would agree.

{Ed002's Note - Everton need to sell and to reduce the wage bill. That will become the next priority.}

1.) 02 Sep 2020 21:15:32
There’s still a fair bit of time of this window left. I reckon it’s a gamble, yes, but getting the players in early is important and then hopefully shift some big earners off the payroll before the window’s out.

12 Jul 2020 13:46:15
I can't see a way out of this, does anyone else think in the games against Norwich and Leicester that we won, we were also second best? I can't get over how we can be so poor week after week and none of the players even care. I'm not sure how we get out of this as surely nobody would consider signing any of these players that we currently have, with the exception of Richarlison and Digne. Its going to take a few seasons for these contracts to expire, I think we are serious relegation candidates for next year, Ancelotti is always smiling, its clear he doesn't care like these players.

1.) 12 Jul 2020 13:54:17
I’m hoping Carlo is using this time to fully assess how rubbish the team is.

Of the players to play today would only keep:
Digne, Keane, mina, Gordon, kean, Richarlison and dcl.

The rest can all go - but can’t imagine any takers - not even if we offered by 1 get 2 free!

2.) 12 Jul 2020 14:04:23
Richarlison and Digne will go mate, and you carnt blame them.

19 Jan 2020 13:38:11
Question for the eds, if we go into admin, can we cancel our player contracts like Rangers did or will we still be stuck with them? Sorry if this has already been covered but I could not see if this had been discussed.

{Ed002's Note - Everton are not going in to Administration and are not cancelling any contracts.}

1.) 20 Jan 2020 09:03:43
where've you got the idea from we're going into admin?

02 Dec 2019 13:27:32
Does anyone else think our problems rub deeper than the manager? Individual errors and beibg weak when under pressure has been symptematic of the club since the Martinez era, our players don't seem to be able to hold on/ withstand pressure towards the end of games. I just thought 3 at the back was a good move for the next few weeks and the players appeared to ve more settled, but again individual errors cost us. Was a cruel blow that winner though, it is just so Everton, we need a strong defensive performance to get anything from next few games.

1.) 02 Dec 2019 13:55:35
Yes this is more than the manager I agree, these players tend to turn up unexpectedly and surprise the opposition (and fans) they gatecrashed the 'King Power' and almost pulled it off until the Foxes with the help of Marco's changing players
found a way to come out of the match with 3 points.

Marco has to bear a substantial amount of responsibility for this loss.

2.) 02 Dec 2019 14:40:13
group of spineless players mate, wouldn't flinch if any of this crop left us and that's the problem there no attachment.

3.) 02 Dec 2019 15:19:44
Some of the boys put in a really good shift yesterday even Siggy was closing down like a madman at times, for 98% of that game we kept a really good shape defensively. The two subs were needed DCL and Iwobi looked knackered and needed to be replaced. I know its not good enough but this week they were actually trying to win the game and played some positive stuff.

4.) 02 Dec 2019 18:19:59
The 3 at the back worked until Leicester changed shape and went with 2 up top, that is when a tactical manager would have seen that we were being over run and reverted to a flat back 4 and add another body in the central midfield area to shore things up.

5.) 04 Dec 2019 08:59:43
thought sigurdssons positional sense was terrible and wasnt doing the job he was asked, pressing like a mad man is great, if that's what your told to do, if your the 2 shielding a back three you can't press like a mad man, siggy done that therefore leaving tom exposed 9/ 10.

07 Nov 2017 18:29:35
Hi eds, do u know why Allardyce is intersted in the job? I remember before Koeman was sacked him saying he wanted and international job and left palace saying health reasons? If he just wants to come for the money i don't think its the right appointment because that was the reason Koeman came and look how that turned out. That said, i'm sure he would steady the ship in the short term if he was committed to us, and not Farhads money.

{Ed025's Note - he wants to manage on a short term basis these days gold, he sees himself as a fixer who will take on clubs in trouble and get them back on the right track, his family are his main priority he has stated so wants a big pay day over a short period and clubs are willing to accommodate him mate..

1.) 07 Nov 2017 19:45:04
All this Allardyce business is doing my head in. I cannot believe that a man who buys a major stake in a club with the intention of making it a top 6 side that regularly competes for domestic and European trophies and, who is prepared to bankroll a new stadium, can’t look further than the basement type managers being banded around. If we get Allardyce a new manager will end up undoing what he will do as we will have players he buys in January who will not be good enough to compete where we want to be and just cost us a fortune to replace when we appoint a new manager. Now is the chance to get a good manager, give him the opportunity to work with the players we have, build their confidence, steer us clear of relegation and as high as he can. Then in the background he can be making the subtle changes required for his style of play and some additions in January to take us forward and ready for next season. Europe has gone now, a top 6 place is still possible, the FA cup is still there. We must be the laughing stock of the EPL at the moment. I would also demote Walsh as he must take some of the responsibility for what has happened.

{Ed002's Note - Moshiri is not bankrolling any new stadium for Everton. You are living in a fantasy world.}

2.) 07 Nov 2017 19:59:05
Ed002 You are clearly a well connected individual whom understands football inside out, so please could you outline; Who Moshiri is?, What's his plan for the club? Will the stadium happen, how is it bring paid for? And finally who is actually in charge of the club?

{Ed002's Note - You should know all of these answers. Moshiri is a businessman who has invested in Everton at a time when English football is growing significantly financially. His plan is to see the club grow. The Council are behind the stadium financially and Everton will provide payments to the loans. I have no idea what you expect in respect of the last question.}

3.) 07 Nov 2017 20:00:40
Sorry ed my understanding was Morishi would ensure that the SPV who loaned the money for the stadium build that repayments would be guaranteed. You need to cool down with your replies and get out more lol.

{Ed002's Note - Try not to share ignorance then.}

4.) 07 Nov 2017 20:34:14
Thanks for your reply. Clarity is I'm seeking at a time when our football club seems rather muddled in it's thinking to say the least. The position of Steve Welsh seems vague while in the end like any business one man makes the final call on a decision such as a new Manager.

Hopefully if we can bring doucoure in from Watford that could help as he has a good engine in midfield and i used to the pace of the premier league. We do lack pace in nearly all depatments though, really hope we can bring a new RB to help with that also.

{Ed002's Note - Zeki Celik (RB) Lille are willing to sell for €20M and don't want to negotiate too far from that amount. The player is looking to move to England at some point and the asking price has proven too high for Villareal who were offered to opportunity to bid for him. West Ham, Everton and Spurs have shown an interest.
Santiago Arias (RB) Napoli spoke with Atletico when they were concerned they were going to lose Elseid Hysaj and Everton see preferred choice Celik as too expensive and have enquired. Benfica spoke with Atletico but opted for Gilberto.
Alessandro Florenzi (RB) time at Roma is over so a loan to address the Everton RB issue - he has been used quite often as a RW as well.
Djibril Sidibe (RB) Player wants out but Everton would like to take up their option but would need the player to be persuaded to stay - Monaco had Milan saying they will take him on a loan to buy in January and they could look again in the summer.
Diogo Dalot (RB) loan option if Sidibe leaves.}

I remember Watford fans last year saying he was worth £50 mil and that he belonged in the champions league. he has got to be better than what we have at the moment.

Would be a great signing but I can't see us having the cash for him, i really hope this true, bringing him in would allow Richy to move back to the left, his best position in my opinion.

To be honest, there are more than those 3 who are not good enough, we don't even have anyone out injured who could come in and make an impact. on a lighter note, Gordon looks to have a bright future, he should definitly start the next game.

I thought Delph played better than Gylfi to be honest, but apart from Pickford I didn't think anyone played badly.

I know what you mean, even if you wanted to leave, scoring a goal is still something to smile about, his attitude is disappointing as most people, myself included, still want him to do well.

I was thinking we could play 4-3-3 narrow, but when attacking, the full backs push up and Allan drops back so it would be like 3-4-3, Carlo used that a few times last season.

I assume that maybe once Juve were interested, we could not compete with the offer. Or with us maybe signing Allan, they would prefer to sign a second midfielder who has Prem League experience? that's even if we sign anyone at all, this is Everton at the end of the day!

Im certain you must not have watched the first 10 minutes of the game if you think that was a good run out. Disgrace is the only word I can think of. On a positive note, I thought Lewis Gibson was good in the second half, I hope we can get him more involved with the first team as there looks to be a good player there.
