So Jordan pickford Proves he's England no1 again why can t we support him like that rather than call him on every dubious decision are we the worst build them up knock them down fans not posted for a while but another point if ya think with ya head rafa is a great appointment but l think there may be a twist with a euro team manager.

Because he always has an accident in him! Even tonight had one dodgy punch! Good shot stopper but weak in area and crosses! I hope he carries on making save after save and we sell him for £50 million plus!

2.) 29 Jun 2021 20:24:40
Blake - from what I can remember from the last part of our season Pickford was one of our best players and he came in for little criticism from majority of fans.

3.) 29 Jun 2021 21:08:42
You want to sell pickford? What kind of fans do we have. i suddenly realise why i moved away from this site. Our fans are a joke.

4.) 29 Jun 2021 21:08:52
Gingerdan, Honcho just shows you the fickle fans we have!

5.) 29 Jun 2021 21:17:09
Why? because I think there are better keepers out there? For £50 million there are! Yet u criticise me and other fans for our opinions?
Look in the mirror for criticising opinions! WTF!

6.) 29 Jun 2021 21:35:30
What better keeper are we getting for 50 million? Pickford kept the most clean sheets 2 out of 3 seasons.
Who is better for 50 million?

{Ed0666's Note - Donnarumma says hello

7.) 29 Jun 2021 21:54:42
Why try and search for a better keeper (don't think there are many anyway) when the lad seems to be getting his act together.
Southall got better with age and was always working to get better, Pickford looks like he is doing the same.

{Ed0666's Note - he could hardly get worse mate

8.) 29 Jun 2021 22:20:12
I’d love to know who we could realistically get who is better than Pickford without spending even more on him than we’d get for Pickford.

I also love the mentality from England fans and people who don’t like Pickford who say he’s gone from “crap” to “average” when he’s been fantastic since the new year. He hasn’t just become an alright goalkeeper, he’s become brilliant. I hope he keeps it up and continues to perform, because if he does, we are sorted in that position.

{Ed0666's Note - Brilliant? Are you sure Swan? Define and elaborate on Pickford’s brilliance with evidence.

9.) 29 Jun 2021 23:41:27
Some right idiots on here. Every single keeper makes mistakes and so called experts make the mistake of ruling them against outfield players, which is ludicrous. Keepers get better as they get older and Pickford is still learning but I'm v happy with his progress and am made up we've got him. He lacked competition prev and like all players, he needed someone to push n bring the best from him. Olsen was one of the best moves Carlo made in his short time.

{Ed0666's Note - he has got better that I grant you cornerflag.

10.) 29 Jun 2021 23:56:27
Donnarumma wouldn’t have signed for us. Irrelevant.
The point is this: rather than celebrate the fact that out goalkeeper plays for our national team, our fans jump on the bandwagon of criticising every error he makes.

{Ed0666's Note - the fact he plays for the national team doesent exempt him from criticism. Yes he has improved but let’s face it he couldn’t regress. I will reserve judgement till the end of the new season.

11.) 29 Jun 2021 22:10:56
Donaruma isn't coming to everton.

12.) 30 Jun 2021 03:55:13
He didn’t make one error since February, not one dodgy game, not one missed corner, not one moment that had fans anxious. Months of consistently great games. His distribution was always solid but has become better. His concentration is so good, doesn’t get lost in emotion or his ego when he makes a good save, just gets on with it.

I know it’s hard for people to forget the 2 seasons of inconsistency and harder for other fans to forgive him for the Van Dijk thing which wasn’t his fault, but honestly, since February he’s been quality in every game.

13.) 30 Jun 2021 06:00:06
I wish everyone would leave Pickford alone as he came as a young keeper with a big future and we thought he would be the best from the start. He has grown through out the time he has been here and now is one of the best keepers in the league and will probably be in great demand. So be careful what you wish for as we can’t get much better than we have already got . He also had threats on his life from those we don’t name so no wonder he was in a bad place. I would not want donarouma as in my opinion he is not in the same bracket as Pickford as anyone could play in Italy or France the football there is no where near as tough.

14.) 30 Jun 2021 08:50:36
Since he came back from injury he's been a different keeper. His shot stopping has always been good but something has changed to make him much much calmer. There's still work to be done on crosses but having been one of his biggest critics I now think a keeper is very low down on our list of positions that need addressing.

15.) 30 Jun 2021 10:34:55
He is a top keeper and he plays for us. That's all that matters.

16.) 30 Jun 2021 10:38:36
He has been superb since coming back from his last injury, the only people who disagree are those who have it in for him. The work he did on the mental side of his game, think he was with a sports psychologist, has settled him quite a bit. He has also matured and, as some have pointed out, keepers seem to improve with age. Maybe the lad has just grown up a bit?
Only down side, at club level, is that the stadiums haven't been full. In the past, JP has been put off his game by opposing fans, he used to get caught up with the stick he was receiving. We will see how he fairs with that once the grounds are at capacity once again.
I have been critical of him in the past but I can see an improvement in him and hope it continues.

17.) 30 Jun 2021 15:58:14
Not been his biggest supporter tbh but he did settle down massively later last season, mix of the mental side and actually being pushed by a decent backup might have helped. He's also not exactly old for a keeper. Always had top performance capability, keeps this calm side and we're more than okay.

18.) 30 Jun 2021 17:28:19
I gave Pickford a lot of grief at the start of the season, I can remember posting on here about the mistakes he has made. But like others have said since he has come back from injury he has been fantastic, not put a foot wrong made some fantastic saves and distribution been consistently good. We do not need new first choice keeper. I'd let Virginia be back up as well.

19.) 30 Jun 2021 17:25:28
Honcho. The comment "he even had one dodgy punch tonight" is almost laughable. You're basing his whole performance on that. Not the saves he makes or his distribution. That's fickle fans for you.

Opinions are fine as long as justified but to just pick out ONE incident out of 90 minutes in an outstanding performance just beggars belief.

Now if you said he performed poorly for the first part of last season and had been on decline for the 12 months before, I'd have taken that as criticism and a valid opinion. You can certainly back that up. But ONE punch, well come on.

20.) 30 Jun 2021 23:14:29
Pickford has been brilliant. I'll define that:
Great shot stopping
Great distribution
Dominating penalty area
Knowing when to come off his line.
Against Germany he was outstanding. 2 fantastic saves and came off his line like a shot to force Muller into shooting early. And his distribution was great as ever.

He had weaknesses but ever since he had his new haircut (ok, since seeing a psychologist) he's been brilliant.

It's a shame people feel the need to deny this including commentators on TV who have seemed remarkably reluctant to admit when he's made a brilliant save. I noticed in England games when he's made a brilliant save the commentators won't mention it until and unless the pundit next to them points it out. It's a weird groupthink thing.

For England he's been consistently great. In the world cup he was solid in the group stage then won the penalty shootout against Columbia and then made 2 or 3 worldies against Sweden to help us win that game. Lloris let's the ball go through his hands and gets golden gloves.

So far in this tournament he's been fantastic. Even Gary Neville had to admit he was the best player in the game against Scotland.

{Ed0666's Note - so you’re happy with a keeper whose plays better for his country than he does for his club???

21.) 01 Jul 2021 07:11:37
To be fair Ed he has improved in the last 6 months. I always thought his main problem was his composure and mentality rather than actual ability.

However, since having councilling it seems to have done him good and made a difference on the pitch. However, it is only early days and he needs to maintain this level consistently from now on.

It is different playing for England where the chance for the opposition is less frequent compared to playing week in, week out and an improved level of opponent.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not denying the fella has talent but to say he’s been faultless since February as someone said is just trying to prove a narrative with bunkum. As I said I’ll judge him after this season coming.

22.) 01 Jul 2021 14:00:48
I don't argue with that. However, there isn't one player in the world that has gone 6 months without making mistakes. Some are held against them more than others. Which, is understandable as they tend to be more closely scrutinised if they've gone through a period where they haven't performed and especially if you are the England number 1.

23.) 01 Jul 2021 14:25:23
he hasn't made many mistakes since getting back in the team towards the end of last season. Maybe it would be better to say he hasn't made any mistakes that have led to goals conceded? I honestly believe that the work with the sports psychologist has done him the world of good, he seems a lot calmer and more assured than at any time since he arrived.

I was one of his biggest critics a year ago but have to admit he's been outstanding in the last few months. I don't expect any Liverpool fan to give him credit, most of them are still whining over the VVD tackle that cost then the league 🙄 but, if they have watched him in any game of late, they can't deny he has improved.

As for our next signing s I think they are going to be recognised players who have option s we maybe 2/ 3rd choice but if they choose us they will still improve us even short term that's what I think the hold up is anyone agree?

We as a mid table team spent a lot of money on lukaku all our money in fact, he came to Everton to have game time and improve and he's give us 60 goals in 3 season learning his trade let's not be bitter on someone using us for what we are a non trophy winning mid table team things are going to get better but not in his timeframe and l was born Everton from the early 80 s.

Blake75

1.) 20 May 2017 00:09:51
I am not bitter, I would quite happily take the money for Lukaku, kick on next season with a couple of striker additions among other areas.

Moshiri thinks big last season we thought Europe was guaranteed maybe this season we need players to get us in the top 8 / 10 places lone gueye then get players for top 4/ 5 places with koemam an current squad it could only 2/ 3seasons but we ll be there with credit respect and a solid base United 92 comes to mind with our young lads COYB.

Right koemam s comin does nt matter when gibson signed a contract he's not first team but could be a great squad player
We're losin 2/ 3 squad players this summer and 100 mil won t go far stones going no were koemam will turn him into or use him as a beckenbaur within 12 months Barkley will stay an learn his trade with no fanfare so the 100 mil will not go far So we need 3 striker s an pelle will do a job with Jansen or berinho as comp to lukaku he's going no where no one pays 65 mil for a striker with no 1 st touch we need a CB an a big bid for Forster next season top 6 followed top 4.

1.) 11 Jun 2016 07:33:11
You are the first person other than myself Blake75 to recognise a Beckenbaur in Stones, I said it from the first moment he brought the ball out from the back. The only thing is that under Martinez there was no will or organisation there for someone to immediately step into the vacated space Stones left. Under Koeman that will be recognised and fixed almost immediately. I am looking forward to Koeman.

2.) 11 Jun 2016 08:14:28
Barry always filled in when he came out from defense.

The problem with Stones was that he took risks when he didn't need to. Dallying on the ball too much in a defensive position, poor passes to other defenders or his goalkeeper.

His positional sense and awareness especially when marking is poor and has to use his pace to get himself out of trouble.

However, he is very young for a CB and will get much, much better over time. He doesn't really remind me of anyone but he seems well suited to the Barcelona type of play.

Beckenbaur was defensive first but Stones is much the opposite. I think he is more a Viera type player.

3.) 11 Jun 2016 11:31:20
I used to think Stones would develop into a Beckenbauer type player. I can't decide whether it's Martinez' training, the tactics or whether he's not as good as we thought, but I feel that he has regressed in the last season. Hopefully Koeman can fix him. If not, as he is now, he would make a cracking defensive midfielder, as he has a good pass, loves bringing the ball out and coming forward.

4.) 11 Jun 2016 11:50:24
Agree BlueJohnUns. He was given too much trust for a youngster. The boy clearly is class no doubt about it. But he's not mature enough to be totally autonomous with his capabilities. But I also feel that Jags should be more firm with him during the match. That's where he can have more of an influence than the coaching staff who were getting it so wrong. Can you imagine Watson, Ratcliff, Gough or Stubbsy letting him get away with a Cruyff turn in the 18 yard box. Think he'd have a clip or two.

5.) 11 Jun 2016 13:32:04
People writing of stones already make me laugh, he's young especially in centre back terms, he's been coached/ managed poorly this year like the rest of them, being clapped and encouraged when doing silly things by RM, all young lads have a dip it's natural, to many fans praise or write off after a few games it's laughable.

Genuinely think a draw today and a 1 goal win at a field whilst praying to God on Sunday think klopp will tinker for the league and get caught out to Carlo think Dunc needs big praise for our turnaround.
