Hojbjerg from Southampton being linked tonight. Never saw that coming.

Could be Morgan the other way.

Two of our last 4 managers have taken clubs down from the prem and 1 was a specialist relegation fighter. Any surprise we are where we are?

Another good result without being great. Do you think any of the other top managers could have took this squad on the run Carlo has us on?

Bigreg

1.) 08 Feb 2020 17:37:24
A few. but only an elite few and certainly not the past few managers.

2.) 08 Feb 2020 17:39:57
All the great sides win but not all of them dominate the game.

Carlo has got us hard to beat and he is relying on our quality to win the games.

3.) 08 Feb 2020 19:32:30
Elite few being the point. We have one of the best managers in the history of the game. We are seriously punching by having him as our coach.

Swap deal with Schneiderlin?

2.) 23 Jan 2020 22:33:50
Yes please I would take that.

{Ed025's Note - and give them £30m to take him off our hands..

18 Jan 2020 18:38:21
Carlo's post match comments are absolutely spot on and brutally honest. Really refreshing to hear. Wish we had got him 5 years ago before we wasted millions.

Bigreg

1.) 18 Jan 2020 18:51:45
He is some Manager.

2.) 18 Jan 2020 19:02:37
Couldn't afford him 5 years ago.

3.) 18 Jan 2020 19:15:40
Ok 4 years ago when moshiri joined the club.

4.) 18 Jan 2020 23:01:50
And we can afford him now?

11 Jan 2020 17:20:31
Cant believe there are people giving Ancelotti stick already. We've wanted a winner as manager for years and now we have one people having a pop already. We know last week was a disaster but none of the players were his. Give him time for gods sake.

Bigreg

1.) 11 Jan 2020 17:43:43
He’s had too many games in a short period to really get to work with the players. We have to be patient and allow his methods to bed in slowly over the rest of the season and then allow him the summer to recruit more thoroughly.

2.) 11 Jan 2020 17:51:04
There were fans giving Silva stick 2 weeks before he'd even managed a competitive game for us.
It will be the same with Ancelotti too.
Some supporters just don't know how to support.

3.) 11 Jan 2020 17:58:28
That's just stupidity having a pop at Carlo.

4.) 11 Jan 2020 18:03:15
I know mate. Twitter went mental when Sigurdsson was made captain. I am not a fan of Sigurdsson at all but Ancelotti made him captain so get over it. Going on social media and ripping in to one of the most successful managers of all time is just embarrassing.

5.) 11 Jan 2020 18:44:30
Smit666, I was one giving stick to Silva even before his first game in charge. This guy will get no stick from me. The reason is obvious.

6.) 11 Jan 2020 18:53:46
Idiots all of them we need a good 2 years at least to sort this out. It's just the nature of the social media beast unfortunately. People often speak before they speak.

Saw some encouraging signs today. We will get better.

7.) 11 Jan 2020 19:09:39
Micky Flanagan was spot on about this. "remember when society hid stupid people"
Some idiot let some of these specimens breed and now they can be found in the corners of Twitter, projecting the impression that someone is listening to their mindless thumb bashing. Unfortunately the less tech savvy help fan the flames and spread this rubbish. NSNO is littered with fan rage, dressed up as an attempt at journalism.

8.) 11 Jan 2020 19:46:50
Well DFS hopefully you can now see that Silva wasnt our biggest problem.

There are a half dozen players here that are rotten to the core and even a world class manager will have his work cut out until he gets rid of them.

9.) 11 Jan 2020 21:29:44
Good shout Smitt.

10.) 11 Jan 2020 21:54:54
Echo that Smitt and GB, the performance (never to be mentioned) last week was worse that the one they produced for Silva and looking back I feel a tad more sorry for the man as there are clearly some players who imo need either shipping out or miracle like improvements.

11.) 12 Jan 2020 01:27:24
Silva was part of it, but the player recruitment is what's stuffed us, fair to say we punched above our weight with moyes, but he bought players for his system, then Walsh/ koeman silva/ brands bought players like kids in a toy shop, Ancelotti will buy players to fit into his system, he will work with what he has for now, but expect big changes down the line,

12.) 12 Jan 2020 12:32:59
What is most annoyinh, is Walsh was tipped as being a scout who looked deeper than a players ability and stats and paid a lot of attention to their mentality and background.
But then bought the weakest minded players I have seen for as long as I can remember.

13.) 12 Jan 2020 17:54:28
It’s not all player recruitment though that’s a very sweeping statement and tarnishes a number of players with the same brush!
I think Richarlison has been a great signing
So has Bernard and Lucas Digne
Mina has taken a while but I think he will be good for the squad as one of four
Gomes was a good signing cut short in his prime but wish him a speedy recovery
Gbamin and Kean I feel will be good just need to show some patience on both for different reasons
I still feel our biggest issue is losing Gueye! The man was immense and covered up so many others shortfalls like when players stroll past Gylfi and he can’t catch them or shielding Keane from being exposed at the back!
I have faith that a man of Ancelotti will address these areas given the time and I still feel Brands is the right man for the Director of Football role.

14.) 12 Jan 2020 18:03:33
I remember a lot of the above posters "loving the summers transfer business"

15.) 12 Jan 2020 19:15:30
I loved the summer business and none of my half dozen were signed by Brands. You have hit the nail on the head Southern Toffee almost all pre Brands have question Marks about them.

16.) 12 Jan 2020 21:33:28
Iwobi is the only Brands buy that has ‘blotted his copy’. For me, we went for one player . didn’t get him and went for plan B who for the life of me I can’t see why. P. S. I also don’t credit Brands with Richarlison. fair play to Silva that would not have happened without him.

05 Jan 2020 21:49:59
Marcel Brands needs to go. Ancelotti has probably got more contacts in the game than he has and would attract players he has managed before without Brands sticking his oar in. Plus his track record since he got here is hardly impressive.

Bigreg

1.) 05 Jan 2020 22:14:05
Yes we need to stop buying players from top 6 clubs that are there rejects sigs, shnids, Walcott, ect, ect ect, and buy some young blood or bring it through . brands has a lot to answer for terrible signings.

2.) 05 Jan 2020 23:00:41
While throwing the blame out do get some of the facts correct as I didn’t think Schneiderlin Sigurdson Walcott or Keane to add another we’re bought by Brands?
He has brought us Gomes Mina Richarlison Bernard Sidibe Digne as the bulk of his signings which personally I think aren’t bad and with Ancellotti as Manager will probably be able to persuade better to join
Yes question marks over Iwobi and I don’t think we’ve seen a proper Moise Kean yet.

3.) 05 Jan 2020 23:03:16
Brands is not the problem its year after year of buying players on high wages and long contracts, his past c he built clubs from ground up buying young players and selling on when needed to make money, now we don't have to sell to make money but need to sell to make a team need to give him time to get rid of players not wanted by manager at this time (new manager new players wanted) , we need time and proper direction to build our team not scatter gun transfer policy of last regimes.

4.) 05 Jan 2020 23:03:48
I think that’s harsh on Brands, none of those players were his acquisitions. It’s a mixed bag but Digne has been brilliant, Richarlison, Bernard and Gomes to a certain extent. Still question marks about Kean, Mina, Sidibé, Delph (but he’s hardly had time to settle with injury’s) . Gbamin is an unknown until he gets back from injury.

Walcott, Schneids, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Keane were all before his time. He’s trying to sort out a few years of poor recruitment, can you name a player post moshiri pre brands who’s done well? . Pickford (. ish) , after that I can’t.

5.) 06 Jan 2020 06:52:05
I said it months ago, we will never be able to compete as long as our spine consists of the Walsh signings.
Schneids, Keane, Pickford and Siggy have no mental strength.
And as Southern Toffee says Brands signings have been better but due to injuries we are relying on the old guard.

6.) 06 Jan 2020 12:48:43
I think DCL was bought in that time period gibbo but that’s the only one I can think of and he was bought as a development prospect.

7.) 06 Jan 2020 17:33:45
DCL Holgate Pickford Colman Davies and possibly Baines are the only pre-Brands players I'd keep from the entire squad.

The rest where all non-existant yesterday could see huge gap left in midfield where none closed down their players and left them time to play whatever ball they wanted to, I would of looked like a world beater against our midfield, would of been better to put Davies rather than Delph more mobile and more positive going forward.

{Ed025's Note - i would have played davies as well BB..

8.) 06 Jan 2020 22:33:05
Gana. he fits the criteria. - oh yes he’s moved on to bigger and better things. Let’s give Walsh some credit.
30mil for Iwobi and trying to buy Rojo are the x2 black marks on Brands book for me along with (if true) his perseverance with Silva.
We need to remember that Brands have never kicked a ball in the Premier league and in footballing terms is ‘inexperienced’ in this league to say the least.

9.) 06 Jan 2020 22:41:59
Blue boy / Ed. - I wonder why CA with his knowledge, judgement, experience and his no doubt top draw footballing and management knowledge chose to leave Davies out completely.
I am going to throw this out there. but maybe, just maybe he didn’t feel he was the answer. (Because he ain’t a box to box midfielder, isn’t a holding midfielder, doesn’t have pace, isn’t a shooting threat from outside the box, in fact I don’t know what he is other than England’s u23 captain and an Evertonian 🤷🏼‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - because he has one thing the others dont have blu...passion and a respect for the club mate, you may not rate him and yes he can be frustrating at times but he knows what a derby means to the fans unlike most of the others..

Hi Ed is he any good not really heard of him?

Bigreg

{Ed002's Note - Gedson Fernandes (RM) not seen as good enough for Benfica and regardless of the €100M release clause want him gone for the best deal he can get. Has been offered to four English sides plus sides in Italy. Milan and Lyon have unacceptable proposals on the table. It is thought that Manchester United might bite and it seems West Ham are open to a loan deal. The player has ties to London and might prefer the chance to live there. I really don't see him as what most English sides need.}

If we did sign Messi there would be some on here moaning he was to small, lightweight not good enough in the air and saying he was a waste of money.

I really hoped that TD would kick on and become a first team regular and one day captain but he seems to have gone backwards to me. Ancelotti knows a player and he is behind Delph and Sigurdsson which says it all really. Gerrard was dominating games at a very young age much easier to get behind a player doing that.

Degsy. Respect your opinion I really do but I would graft and run my socks off if I played for the blues but I'd still be crap. The league has changed so much since then. We even finished above the reds then, spurs weren't a force or Leicester and thanks to Sky money more clubs like Wolves have emerged again. Do agree massively that we have signed some rubbish since Moyes but all managers do including Klopp and Pep. Changing managers every 2 years or so hasn't helped with incoming managers not fancying players they have inherited and bringing their own in and struggling to move unwanted players on. Vicious circle mate.

Le tie, weifeng, jeffers Jacobson, bent, kilbane, said, rodrigo. To name a few. All signed by the god like Moyes. I can send another 5-10 rubbish players he also signed. Bound to buy the odd great one like arteta, baines and Cahill in 11 years.

He might have signed one and have another lined up but it doesn't make them great players or signings because Moyes made them.
