Unless we are in the bottom 3 at Christmas, I won’t be joining the ‘Silva out’ brigade.

We have changed managers far too often in the last few seasons and are still paying for it (literally) . If we turf Silva out also, what message does that send to potential future managers? It’s fair enough to say x or y could come and manage us but I’m not so certain that they would want to come. I don’t think there aren’t that many world class managers out at the moment that would manage us. We’d end up having to take a punt on another Silva type.

I’d prefer to give him time to get us playing like we did at the end of last season. The real problem I feel is in the coaching staff. We all love big Dunc but our attack hasn’t been firing on all cylinders for many years (covering 4 managers) . Is it time to look at support for him or shuffling backroom staff? It doesn’t make sense to keep buying players with such potential if we aren’t developing them or getting the best out of them.

Changing managers too often is not an excuse to keep a piss poor manager that not only isn't getting results but has a team playing like that yesterday, once coleman went off so did our formation and tactics non off the front line had a clue where they where supposed to be playing.

He wasn’t my first choice when he joined but backed him when he got the job right up until now. Anyone involved in football who can’t see that this mans got to be sacked I’d love to here there reasons why. I still believe Brands has done a great job recruitment wise but this season Marco Silva’s proved to us all that he’s well out of his depth and quite obviously can’t get his system to work. I believe the players would look more organised and play much better managerless let alone under another manager. I’ve read this morning ‘2 or 3 games to save his Everton career’ and ‘ he’s got until christmas’. If we don’t act NOW this season and all the hard work in the summer will be destroyed for another year. Surely the club and the people involved in it can see this if 90% of the fans can. He’s got to go! Not in a few games . NOW!

Agree. Finished 8th last season due to a first season manager syndrome, a fair start and flurry toward the end. The much despised Alardyce (in because nobody else wanted the job) , achieved the same position, with it could he argued fewer resources. Having thought about, I do wonder that nobody else wanting the job could have been in Silvas favour. After such (on paper) an easy start and yet achieving zilch, it would in my opinion be to late giving him till Christmas. I hope Brands is as good as I think he is and already has someone else in mind.

I agree BR19-20 that changing manager means more disruption and more squad upheaval. The main problem I see is Lukaku needs replacing. Not with potential but proven goalscoring ability . The £80 million should have gone on one player, whether we paid over the odds or not . Until our possession and attempts on goal are converted into goals we will always be vulnerable to a set piece or a breakaway as yesterday proved . Moyes believes he would've won the Premier league if he had a Lukaku in the team . That's how important a number 9 is, as Evertonian's we all know that . Brandts and Moshiri are praised and never criticised on here yet one picks the players and the other the manager.

5.) 22 Sep 2019 11:45:02
Gary. Mentioned that below. Not so much critical of moshiri but of the people he is taking advice from. We don't know who they not do we ever see them but they obviously not working in the best interests of the football club.
Brands on the other hand is still above reproach atm. Shown he can spot a player with potential and sell on value. so fans will give him leeway for a while yet. Just need a manager who can bring the best out of the players. I hope it is Silva but if we keep struggling to get results then he will be gone sooner rather than later.

I think we are pretty much on the same page mate . Managers being replaced has to be a last resort as it's 1 step forward and 3 steps back .

Several comments suggesting we have not had a good window/ terrible end to the window.

Compare the squad at the end of Summer - can you really say we are worse off?

Top priority was to get rid of dead wood and Brands is doing that. Let’s see who else he can move on by September.

On the signings side, we’ve signed a replacement for Gueye who can also cover CB, a World Cup winning RB and a striker with some potential.

Let’s calm down a bit and accept it’s been a pretty good window. Maybe there will be some more additions in January.

Amen BR.

I'm with you as well mate. Rome was not built in a day. We have very good director of football and clear direction on where we want to be. Some of the comments I've seen saying this transfer window has been piss poor are embarrassing. Transfer window is over now get behind the team and I think you will be canny surprised on how well we do this year. Oh and I'd have holgate over rojo any day of the week.

{Ed025's Note - me too mate..

4.) 08 Aug 2019 17:31:35
problem is there's only delph and gomez out of the incoming players that have any prem experience we've left ourselves short an from what I've seen mina is a modern day yobo looks world class one min then the class clown the next.

5.) 08 Aug 2019 17:38:16
Defensively we are weaker. There is no way around that. We are also relying on Mina. Will he be fit, will he be good enough of he is fit. Iwobi is not a great signing. We have gained in some areas and lost in others. If Mina performs well then we have a chance. If not we are snookered. Even if we have to play Gbamin at CB and it works, we have by all means replaced Gueye with Delph.

6.) 08 Aug 2019 17:53:38
I’m sure the same things were said last summer and we finished 8th.

Wolves are going to have the Europe factor that effected Burnley, Utd have lost Lukaku, Chelsea Hazard and Spurs could lose a player or 2. The competition for Europe seems more open than last year so I think we should look more positively on it.

If we still need a CB by January, I’m sure Brands will take care of it. We have options on the wing as Ed has said so let's not panic!

Think it’s quite harsh to refer to Moyes as a failure. I remember us being relegation fodder for most of the 90’s and improving markedly under Moyes to a team performing in the top half.

I don’t hate Silva like some do on here. We could sack him after 6 games but I can’t see who would replace him at this time. It’s worthless listing off potential names when they have not shown interest in the job. We have to realise: we are not an attractive proposition anymore. No European football, no decent cup runs recently, high manager turnover, ageing stadium (which is hopefully changing) , not winning games, troubled squad. who would want to come sort all that out knowing they could be on their way within a year?

We ended up with Alladyce last time we did this. I’m one for giving Silva a chance as long as he learns from his mistakes, starting with why we aren’t converting chances.

Why would Arteta come back to Everton? If I was in line for the Man City job, I would stay there.

All the changing of managers over the last few seasons hasn’t left us as a desirable prospect.

Think we all could do with some perspective here.

First game in, 37 to go. New guys will take a few games to gel.

Let’s try not to get at each other; life’s too short.

Surely most clubs C and D options are like ours.
