I seriously pray that Frank and his team don't panic and buy a Che Adams who is no better than the poor strikers we currently have I would like to see us go bold and look for a forward from abroad who ticks the boxes than a failed premier League striker that can not replace or stand in for our current poor levels of forward players.

From his talk Lampard isn't after a striker as good as or better than DCL but rather a stop gap to keep us ticking over till DCL is back. Some good signings Tarkowski, Coady, Onana, not to sure on McNeil.

You’d hope we’d at least be after someone who can challenge DCL when both are fit. Not convinced Che Adams is the answer, although he did score some decent goals for Southampton last season.

I don't understand the point in buying a stop gap. I'd want a striker that can bang goals in, dcl injured or not. Where's the desire from dcl going to come from, knowing he walks back into a team. It's competition up front we need. Not guaranteed starters.

My point exactly DCL is not the most amazing striker outside the top ten teams in the league so why would you want to guarantee him a slot in the team and telling him almost no matter what you do or how poorly you play you are my number one surely the point is to try and sign as good if not better than him in my humble opinion anyways.

Spot on Toffebwoy. Everyone else buys players to better the team. We have with defence and Onana. McNeil I'm not sold on yet, but will give him time. Remember buying Cottee, because he improved us. Same with Ferguson, Andy Johnson, Jelavic, Saha, Lukaku. Granted some went off the boil like Jelavic and Johnson, but when bought, they did their job. I wouldn't want to sign for everton if I was told I'd just be a back up striker.

Does anyone know the details of the Simms loan? More specifically, can he be recalled from his loan or is it set in stone that he's definitely gone for the season?

{Ed002's Note - Gone for the season.}

I would imagine the plan even before DCL got injured was to find more than one goalscorer who are versatile enough to play anywhere across the front, in the same way that Richie (sort of) was. I also think the need for two strikers is glaringly obvious since we sold Tosun, and shipped Simms and Dobbin away on loan. It would make sense that Frank and Thelwell would opt for one striker from overseas who has a good record and one one tested and proven in the PL, in the hope that one can hit the ground running while the other can adapt to the challenge of the league. If it is Guirassy incoming then someone like Che Adams (who would not be my choice) might be a decent support striker while he finds his shooting boots and / or stamina and form.

{Ed025's Note - that works for me mate..

Shame, we could do with him now! Thanks ed002.

We aren’t going to sign a top striker because we can’t afford one and they would prefer European football. We need to look for a Marcus Bent type player who works for the team. Doesn’t necessarily get you excited but the team operates better with him and bring other in play. A Mitrovic would be ideal but now Fulham will not sell. Is Cavani still available? Would Wolves sell Raul Jimenez?

What are people’s thoughts on Pukki from Norwich? Certainly knows where the goal is. Brereton at Blackburn and Juao Pedro could be worth a punt too?
Preferable to Adams for me.

Any of those you mentioned JB would be preferable to Che Adams.

Would much rather we bought a proven striker from the championship than spend money on a player already in premier league who hasn’t set the world alight (Adams and Batshuyai) you’d hope being given a shot in the premier league would see further improvement from them and they’d be eager to impress.

Brereton Diaz would be the championship striker I’d like to see given a chance but doubt Blackburn would sell and believe one of the Ed’s has said we have no interest in him.

See my earlier post today on this banter page agree with you ?% we seem to be the only side not looking for an upgrade on our number one striker who let's face it is not a world beater and is really not better than the side in and around us or below is for that matter short sighted sends the wrong message to make any player feel he place on the team is secured keep every single player goal keeper included on Thier toes.

My mate is a rovers fan
Apparently Diaz won't sign a new contract so Blackburn are looking to sell to the highest bidder asap rather than losing him for nothing. Not saying he's off to everton but likely heading somewhere.
