Got to admit I would have liked us to have been a bit more positive against a Villa side who aren't great. I am a big advocate of balance in a side and for all his limitations would have started with Rondon until he ran out of petrol.

Overall though I am pretty optimistic for the season. I would persevere with the back 3 and wing backs. I am not Holgate's biggest fan but he should get an extended run imo and should improve with two vocal centre backs around him.

The lad Onana looks the real deal and with the right partner and striker options ( heard yet another rumour, Maupay today ) its onwards and upwards for me.

Not the result we hoped for but I took a lot of positives from our first two games, our full back's our two new centre back's our new midfield giant, maybe small shoots but out of acorns mighty oaks grow.

We need 3 in midfield. We're abysmal upfront. 532. Width from wing backs, stack the midfield try keep possession and have them breaking into the box. 2 upfront. My choice right now would be Dele and Rondon and I'd drop the entire front 3 that started today. Maybe Gordon or gray for Dele but Gordon can't score and gray can't pass.

Chris, that could be the first thing I've ever agreed with you on.

533 with gueye, onana and iwobi and sharp/ heath style combo up top. this could be rondon with alli or gordon ntil we get new players.
