It's seems clear now for whatever reasons Lampard doesn't rate Patterson, removing him at half time along with his after match comments, " he did ok " I personally thought he was our best player in the first half, so it looks like he has no chance of braking into the fist team this season, which is a big shame.

I disagree Patterson was playing wingback when we went to a flat back 4 he just preferred keeping Kenny at RB as it gave more options if we had an injury which we did. I don't think it seems clear Lampard doesn't rate Patterson at all.

Against non- league opposition then I would of thought he would of just revert him to his natural full back position and take off Kenny and still have a back four, if he hasn’t got the confidence in him at this level then he hasn’t much chance against premier league teams
Like I said that it’s a shame as he was for me one the highlight players of the first half, sa90 I hope you are right and I am wrong because I am sure he will be a top full back, hopefully for Everton.

It was a shame to take Patterson off. It's clear that he needs to be loaned out.

On that performance why would you want to loan him out? He’s did nothing wrong, obviously Frank prefers Kenny, which is surprising considering we paid 17 million for him, it’s obvious Frank doesn’t rate him, he seemed more enthusiastic over the two youngsters that can on and played for only 4 minutes.

The lad hasn't had many minutes since before he joined. If Frank felt he needed to change the set-up to being in a more attacking player then Patterson was the obvious choice. For all we know, he might have only earmarked him to play for 60 minutes or so. The team performance may have brought an end to his game time rather than how he was playing himself. I doubt Lampard has made the decision he's not in his plans after 45 minutes of first team football. The lad did ok, he got in decent positions but, imo, his crossing wasn't the best. Linked play well but needs more time to find his feet. It was an encouraging debut, albeit against lower league opposition.

Nonsense.
Patterson coming off is only a ‘message from Frank’ for those who want it to be.
He looked promising. Frank will have seen that.
Job done, quarter finals, let’s beat Spurs on Monday.

It was tactical, and paid off simple really, Patterson looked pretty good in places, leaving Kenny on gave injury options and was needed for just that.

How is it obvious?

Why are we making something out of Patterson being taken off?
If he was taken off and replaced by Coleman I could understand making something of it
It was tactical end of.

We all know it was tactical !
Nobody was saying different!

I thought the passing to Patterson was often behind him so he was forced to cut back in. He never had a really good chance to run onto the ball and use his pace. His substitution was tactical as we were not functioning at 5-3-2, nothing to do with how he played. Either Kenny or Patterson had to come off as we had two RBs on and Lampard went for experience. That’s my two pence.

You've confused me there, Uran. You started by saying that it's obvious that Frank doesn't rate Patterson as he hooked him at half time but you then agree it was tactical?

Yours is probably the right one BR
And I totally agree with you, he was given balls that made it virtually impossible to break the line on the outside and had to cut back in, ok maybe his delivery wasn’t perfect on a few occasions but then they are all guilty of doing this.

Blue potato, it was tactical, that is obvious because he wanted Richarlison on but he could of taken Kenny off and played Patterson at left back in his natural position, he obviously doesn’t think he is ready or doesn’t rate him against this standard of opposition.

Patterson is a right back mate. I don't think it's as obvious as you think, that was his first competitive game in months and we needed a tactical change. If we don't see him until the end of the season, or he gets hooked at ht again, then you may have a point mate but I wouldn't read too much into one game.

I should of said “right back “.

17.) 07 Mar 2022
07 Mar 2022 08:59:57
Patterson coming off at half time was one thing the other was the managers unenthusiastic comments about him after the game, ” he did ok “ against non- league opposition, that’s about as low as you can get from a manager, I sincerely hope you are right blue potato as I personally see a top player in Patterson and should be encouraged to gain confidence! I hope hauling him off at half time has sent him backwards.

I don't think it will set him back mate but I do agree he is potentially a very good full back and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the first team. Maybe Frank didn't use the right word but is it possible that he doesn't want to put extra pressure on him after his debut? I think this lad will solve our problem position out once we get him up to full speed mate. Nothing to worry about!
