DCL in my opinion and many of my blue friends is not a top player and couldn't care less if he was sold , but that's just my opinion and no doubt I will get a roasting unless a couple of my friends are on this site and decide to agree ?.

I agree. I think he's very good but some way short of what he's cracked up to be. I would prefer Ollie Watkins or Danny Ings. I'd even go for Callum Wilson.

Whilst I agree DCL has to improve some more there is no chance the 3 you have mentioned are better than him.
None are prolific strikers. Watkins in a decent villa team is struggling, Callum Wilson injury prone and same could be said for Ings.

Looking more into DCL figures with fans saying best player and top goal scorer etc. it’s not as clean cut as you’d think - I was surprised based on stats in transfermarkt website.

I thought he was well clear of the others but he’s not.

Since him and Richarlison have been in team together there have been 96 games

DCL has scored 33 goals in league compared to Richarlison 30 goals.

Richarlison has scored 4 goals in fa cup compared to DCL 2 goals.

Both have scored 5 efl cup goals.

So DCL just edges it 40 to 39 goals scored.

However take into account assists and Richarlison is just ahead with that stat included 10 assists to 8.

I think DCL is far better than players named! He’s been injured all season but he is a natural finisher now. He also looks stronger holding up the ball these days and is improving his first touch too! He has potential to become England’s number 9 for years and I hope we sign him for a longer contract. His value will only go up and up once he gets fit and has a run of games imo.

Can’t get my head around the fact people want us to get rid of our best striker? Can’t just support him nooo. Let’s have a look at his stats? What stats don’t show you is that the lad would have scored a lot more if we had a midfield that could supply him.
As for the three mentioned don’t make me laugh.

Agree totally Wob! Plus we always sell too early, at his age and potential let’s tie him down to long contract, we then either get longer of a player in his prime or get even more dollar if WE DECIDE to sell! Look at West Ham keeping Rice and now looking like they may get 80-100 million, twice what he’d have gone for last summer.

Those who are daring to imagine we will be better off selling DCL will probably be the ones slating the club for not finding a worthy replacement. Can’t we just calm down and accept that for a club languishing around the relegation zone we are lucky to have him playing for us. And that finding someone better than him to play for us if we stay in this league will be almost impossible.

He’s a good player and probably worth that to West Ham but cannot see any team in premier league playing that for him.

Rice is a quality player Dan, and I think West Ham are just making sure he doesn't go cheap. Then again Utd like throwing money about, and they are desperate for a player like him. So never say never.

DCL had been out injured for the vast majority of the season played. He also picked up another knock after returning. His sharpness is not going to be there, I never expected him to be where he was at. He's probably going to take the rest of the season to get back to his full sharpness.

DCL is a 6 yard tap inheader player. Never going to score a worldy but his hold up play is the key for us.
