Should we start worrying about Newcastle coming in for Benitez now the takeover has gone through?

No not at all it’s media just hyping everything wait to you see all the players they get linked too, Rafa is going nowhere, he had lot of bottle taking this job especially with how toxic it was before he was announced, he is settling all that down and building good relations with fans close to his home, I don’t see why he would risk that for Newcastle job it’s not like they are going to challenging for title or champions league over next few years, in fact any new manager will likely get sacked within 12 months.

The headline worried me a little when I first seen it earlier. I then noticed that it was being reported by that high-end, internet site known as football insider ? I then laughed quite a bit!
Gutter press putting 2 and 2 together to get 18, mate. We seen how the moronic section of our fan base reacted when we appointed him, imagine what they would do if he left after only a few months? Scarily, they might even find the right house this time ??.

No way do we worry, Rafa knows he has chosen the best Team possible, Rafa is the best thing to happen to us, should have tried to get him here years ago.

If there’s anything I’ve learned being an Everton fan in the last 5 or so years is that money doesn’t always buy success. Man City and Chelsea were built in an era where the money made a difference, ourselves and Newcastle can’t operate in that way. They won’t be challenging any time soon.

With Newcastle not really spending anything for the last 10yrs they’re in a super healthy position. They will definitely be able to spend huge for the next 2 years but they’ve got to get it right, or they will be stuffed like us.

Not really spending anything?
Last 4 seasons they’ve made some expensive signings and not achieved anything
£26m willock
£20m Wilson and £14m Lewis
£40m joelinton and £16m ASM
£21m almiron.

I think sir loin was referring to the fact that they made a £30m+ profit last year which gives them a lot more room to manoeuvre in first couple of years in terms of the rolling 3 year net loss rules in ffp!

{Ed002's Note - The initial ionvestment allowance is what makes it easier having new owners.}

Being able to spend big is no guarantee of success.
We’ve proven that!

Let’s be honest, the players required to get them in and around the top six (and win title if you listen to what some of the fans are saying) . Won’t sign for a club 19th in the premier league money or not, those world class players won’t leave championship winning teams to play for a relegation threatened EPL team, money talks but those truly world class players don’t have that mindset. (Plus they’re already on ridiculous wages where they are and winning titles) .

Gibbo, can't blame their fan base for getting excited. They've had 14 years of being bled dry by their previous owner and have now become the richest club in the world. If they can't get excited and dream of bigger things then when can they? We were all caught up in how our fortunes would change the minute FM walked through the door.

{Ed002's Note - They were not "bled dry" by the previous owner and are certainly not the "richest club in the world". Mike Ashley has left the club in a very good position in respect of FFP.}

Okay, ed002, he certainly peed them all off with his lack of spending, they deserve to have someone in charge who wants to take then to the next level. With regards to the richest club in the world, that was a headline the other day, they are at least up there with the riches they now have.

{Ed002's Note - It is the usual clamour of fans demanding spending regardless of who it is on. The Everton fans are just the same, as are others like the West Ham fans. The "richest" clubs in the world that generate the most money. Don't believe headlines, or at least think them through. Having the wealthiest owners does not make the club the "richest" in the world.}

I'd say most are like that, ed002, fans are ungrateful and want things in an instant. Just seems to have been one thing after the other for the Geordie fans over the last 14 years. Cheers ed.

Don't think Rafa after the abuse he got (from some of our lot) and his subsequent committment would leave Everton for Newcastle. The guy is a stand up character.
