This is the sunshine filled version of the transfer window. All for an apparent outlay of 1.6 million and a new manager in Rafa:

2 experienced backup keepers in Begovic and Longergan

2 new attacking midfielders (who already have paid dividends) in Gray and Townsend,

A newish midfielder/ forward in Iwobi, being played centrally as he should, who is already paying dividends.

A newish defensive midfielder/ possible CB in Gbamin back from injury.

Godfrey will be back soon we hope.

Doucoure is newish, in that he is being utilized appropriately and is paying dividends.

A new experienced backup striker in Rondon, with PL experience (whom I remember how genuinely distraught he was after the McCarthy injury) . And can Gordon step up and provide some support? And is there a player in Tosun (when he gets back) ?

We are light on the LB and RB is the main complaint. (will Rafa play wingbacks and 3 CB with Braithwaite now showing some skills)

Not bad at all on a shoestring. Not top 5, perhaps fighting for top 10, likely a safe mid-table in a rebuilding and refinancing year.

Aurier at RB? Can Baines come back and play on the right side? Can Tony Hibbert dust off the cleats and take to the pitch?

Interesting year ahead!

I absolutely sit in this camp 770. It ain't been a bad window and we are already showing we are very competitive in this league this year.

I agree. When you consider we didn't/ don't have a pot to p. in, not bad business from Brands and Rafa. Some wage reduction from the column marked FFP, so let's see where we are come January.

What’s more frustrating ducks is that we do have a pot to p! ss you n, in fact our pot is as big as most in the league. The issue is that we have abused the pot badly and now can’t produce it due to years of misspending and mismanagement. Yep don’t know what I prefer… being skint or having money that we aren’t allowed to use, at the moment the latter makes me mad 😡.

Agree Blu 1. People don't really understand the way ffp impacts a club, regardless if they have money or not.
and people saying top 10 would be good? No it won't we still need to get in to Europe, otherwise we will still be in the same position. It's not just about reducing the wage bill, we have to generate more income, and you won't do that finishing 10th.

I think people mean that if we maintain same level as last year despite making a net profit in the window, shaving hundreds of thousands off the weekly wage bill and having one of last seasons regular starters suspended its got to be seen as a good result. In order to build we first need to right the many wrongs and if we can stand still whilst doing that rather than going backwards I'd be made up.

Very sensible comments. This feels like we are being run in the correct manner for a change. We do not have the capacity to make big losses each year unless we increase revenues which we have not done to match the purchases we have made.

If we can get the wage budget in the right levels by the time we get to moving into the stadium, we will have huge scope to scale up the quality recruitment at that time. But right now we have manage the club better.
