So Maitland-Niles, who cannot get into an awful Arsenal side, not sure what to think about that one. Season long loan, so low risk I guess, and can play in multiple positions, but doesn't exactly excite.

Think it's most likely a case of, we have preferred options who either aren't interested or are being priced out of a move. But we have to get someone in, so make it someone young with a point to prove at the very least.

The fact that he isn't being selected by Arsenal is completely irrelevant, and baffling.

He's better than what we have, and if he can accept that he is a good full back then we've got a good player on our hands.

We’ve tried the super stars and it doesn’t work so let Rafa have who he wants rather than who we want and see where we are at the end of the season, a team with players who give their all is better than a team of super stars doing nothing for 80 minutes.

Think maitland-niles would be a good addition particularly if loan with option to buy. He’s got premier league experience, he’s young and if he does well great make the loan permanent. If he doesn’t then we are not stuck with a player we can’t move on.

{Ed025's Note - i think most of us are changing our attitude towards the way we see the game now dan, out with the expensive prima-donnas and in with the young or even not so young hungry players mate, its a new era and i for 1 am really looking forward to it mate..

Totally agree Ed. Let’s get players that want to be at the club, those willing to become part of the club and fight for the right to wear that badge. If they’re free or cheap who cares - think for so long fans have thought the more expensive a player is the better they are, however this isn’t the case.

Both gray and Townsend are already outshining some of our expensive recruits.

I know only early days but things are looking far better for us as a club than they have done in a while in regards to fitness and desire of the team.

Looks like arsenal are having second thoughts on letting the lad go. I hope we don't put all of our eggs in one basket chasing him and then miss out completely on the RB we've needed for the last two seasons. Is maitland-niles predominately a midfielder who can play full back?
We definitely, and desperately, need a new RB, Patterson from Rangers looks unlikely now that he has to self-isolate until after the window shuts. Who does that leave on the market that we can realistically sign?
