Gray and Townsend?
Maybe Rafa has got a cunning plan. Just not the one I was hoping for.

I'm OK with them if they are squad players. Bernard is on a good wage so would hope the 2 are coming in to replace him. Still convinced there is a player in gray (I'm probably wrong) and Townsend is ok for a squad player.


That's my hope anyway.

Have always liked Gray, plenty of pace and just needed coaching on his final ball.
Townsend is just another Walcott so would only want him on a 1 year with an option.

Agree that they wouldn't be bad signings if on reasonable wages. Get rid of Iwobi and Bernard - we'd make a profit, have less wages going out and in my view have upgraded on the two players as well.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know about anyone else but i find it very underwhelming i must say..

Both for 1.5 million isn’t bad I was always worried when Gray came on against us, and Townsend was always running and never gave up and both got pace Townsend 30 and Gray is 25 and Begovic is a quality back up keeper for Pickford . Just want Dumfries and a striker, Abraham is rumoured and also Courtinho, busy time blues UTFT.

We spent 50 mill on siggy and he barely moves a ball forwards, if these 2 do that for a fraction of that where's the problem? We have lofty ambitions but we keep finding some bugger has greased the ladder.

{Ed0666's Note - greased? It’s an oil well mate 😂. If you guys sign gray and Townsend I think Everton fans will have to hide behind the sofa and close the curtains for a few months. I wouldn’t worry I’m sure it will only be Gray and not both.

It’s clear that Rafa wants to play with wide men and we haven’t got any. He’s managed Townsend so should know if he’s good or not. Hardly James, Dacoure and Allan though is it? Easy to understand fans being frustrated.

Ed 025 what's you're thoughts on these deals is it like td said the wages or even due to ffp or is it benitez wanting townsend and gray me personally think gray could be a decent player but am not sure on townsend if am honest must be a player in the u21s or u19s who could try make that step up into first team who can play on the wings just don't see no harm in the youth giving a go instead of getting 30 plus year old on a free.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think its the smartest move by the club andy, after all the vitriol aimed at rafa by the nay sayers we needed a lift for the club to get these people on side, i just cant see the point in truth, Gray is ok i suppose but hardly the marquee signing we were hoping for, but townsend is not even an upgrade on what we already have mate...and yes that includes iwobi..
