I’m not convinced by all the bad mouthing of Jordan Pickford I think you need to look at the whole picture. he has been outstanding in the euros and schmikel was lucky with his first save because it was right at him . No one slags him off for missing an easy chance but then again that is what his job is to score. Jp made 3 slight errors last night but people in the press and here need to understand that he is only just getting into his prime and there will be plenty of teams who would love to have him in their side.

His past goes against him with the press, no doubting that. But he wasn't at his best with his distribution last night, pundits are paid to say what they see so they would highlight those incidents whoever was in goal.

Sorry BP but the pundits rarely say what they see.

Harry Kane was quite poor at times last night but you’d swear he was the messiah based on the pundits.
Kane took a shocking penalty but that’s not mentioned.
He also got in the way of Grealish when looked like Grealish had a cracking chance to score.

Pickford had a few stray kicks last night, but otherwise had been talked up as England’s player of the tournament before last nights game with his saves against Scotland and Germany.

Pundits rarely say what they see with certain players and would rather wax lyrical about the players they like.

I started this conversation earlier (sorry :-) ) . Ever though as I said I'm not his biggest fan I wasn't having a go at quite the opposite. It's just every minor error gets scrutinised more than any other keeper, but it's because he plays for us and you know they don't like us.

If Henderson was in goal and he made them stray passes, you really think it wouldn't be mentioned? Of course it would.
I've been critical of him in the past but he was superb towards the end of the season. He's been outstanding at the euros but let's not get all prissy about it, he made 3 mistakes that could have led to a goal so I have no problems with pundits highlighting the errors. That's what they get paid to do.

But not the goal that definitely was not his fault, that's how I started it.

I'd disagree slightly. He had some sloppy distribution, no denying that. But much like Kane when it mattered most he got the job done. Some decent punching from crosses - an area that has caused us a lot of issues over the last couple of season - and a couple of decent saves. Question marks over the positioning for the free kick, much like their are question marks about Kanes penalty.

In some ways I get the point that Kane doesn't have a history of making errors like Pickford does, but the history is for us not England so should be ignored as far I'm concerned.

What's most annoying is the press were salivating over Pickford before the game, even making up awards that don't exist to give him for clean sheets. 3 sloppy kicks later and all of a sudden he's a liability again. Beggars belief really.

I thought he was at fault for the goal as he was 2 steps to far over to his left. Even one step and he would save that. Although the wall was also caught out as well and should have blocked it. It wasn't a high ball over the wall and should never have got anywhere near the goal.

He made one really bad pass and another he was under pressure over that was miss kicked which happens.

The positives clearly outweigh the negatives yesterday though. He dealt with the balls into his box well and what I am loving seeing is him have a go at his defenders. He will see more than them and its important he is communicating with them. Him doing that will stop more goals than he saves. That's a good goalkeeper.

Personally don't think he's a great one yet but he could be. Only young for GK still at 27.

Tired of the Pickford assassins. Name any player that didn't make a stray pass in any match? Kane lost the ball on the half-way line and led directly to an attempt on goal, is it mentioned? NO!

His distribution was awful last night, that is the truth.

You don’t hear about the mistakes by Kane, Sterling, Phillips or Shaw because none of them accidentally injured an important player to their rivals.

I’m pretty sure the reason he was picked up for the mistakes was due to pressure England were under at the time. Normally, his distribution is one of his strengths but at a time when we needed to nullify the Danish momentum by just keeping the ball, he gave it away it quite serious attacking locations - luckily, the Danes couldn’t capitalise on it.

I do think some of the balls played back to him from the defence were equally risky and the lads were nervous from the start with quite a few mistakes throughout the game. Kane’s penalty was awful but we were fortunate he got the rebound.

Pickford’s mistakes will have more scrutiny as he is the keeper and that has always been the case. Defence and keeping mistakes are most likely to lead to goals so there is always more emphasis on them. Let’s see how he does in the final.
