Here's how I see our squad

GK Pickford, Virginia, Tyrer. ANO
RB Coleman, ANO
CB Godfrey, Keane, Holgate, Branthwaite, Mina
LB Digne, Nkounkou, Small
MF Allan, Doucore, James, Gbamin, ANO, ANO
Attack Ricky, DCL, ANO, ANO

Decisions to be taken Siggy, Gomes, Bernard, Delph, Davies, Gordon, Simms, John, other U23's. Some might have to be sold to generate funds, some could be squad players and some might need to go out on loan

If I go through the ANO's I've identified.

GK I think it would be better for Virginias development that he goes out on loan so we need back up or competition for Pickford. Plenty available and at a low cost

RB Key signing. Coleman has been a great player for us but he now needs to be just a backup to whoever we sign with Holgate or Godfrey also filling in if absolutely necessary

MF One key signing and second would be nice if we still have any doubts on Gbamin or, if we can't sell them on is it Davies, Siggy or Gomes

Attack right side key signing, Can the second be covered by Iwobi, Gordon or Simms

3 key signings plus a goalkeeper

Whoever the manager is it needs to be done this window - not lose another year because we don't like doing business in January

Sort the manager out and get going Brands. Pre season training looms.

Those positions are vital to be filled and I'm sure the club are working on them regardless of the new boss.

I think out of all the players that we could sell, I would keep Davies and soggy. They both showed glimpses last season of having something to offer off the bench or due to injuries.

Hope gbamin stays fit. Looked really good in his very first game.

Ideally we would move on as many players as we can that are fringe players or deadwood.

Need 2 for each position, like your list. Any injuries and we have an U23 squad to cover. Qe will never know if they are good enough if they don't play.

I can see richy going tbh and we could get good money for him.

We need young, hungry players willing to work hard to improve and there are loads in bottom prem or championship for positions we need.

Dwight mcneill, David Brooks, Ivan toney, tariq lamptey, Darnell furlong, etc.

That's before brands has worked his magic abroad.

As usual I am optimistic for a good season under a new boss. All we can do is get behind the lads wearing the shirt and reassess come Christmas.

You might be right on Ricky but if he does we'll get good money for him and it will provide the funds to replace him

I'm not in disagreement with you on Davies but, for me, after what is it 4 years I still don't know what his position is. As a defensive midfielder he gives the ball away too much and as an attacking midfielder 0 goals and 1 assist all season says it all. However, if I had to choose to keep out of Gomes, Davies, Delph I'd choose Davies but if I got a good offer for him I'd take it

I'm sure Brands is working hard on signings but I do feel we are also waiting for the new manager to be agreed so he can concur with any decisions. Whether we've missed anybody or will miss out on others I don't know but it needs sorting out fast or let Brands make the decisions.

I missed Iwobi off my post. For me he's in the sell and generate some funds category

Also what are peoples views on Conor Gallagher? He played for West Brom on a loan from Chelsea last season. Apparently he would like to try and get a place in the Chelsea squad but he is attracting interest from Crystal Palace with a fee of about 15m mentioned. He was West Broms young player of the year last year. He's not as creative/ attack minded as I would want but I think he is an improvement over Gomes or Davies.
