No matter who is appointed gl as manager everyone isn't going to be happy. I can see the argument that he brought wolves uo and stabilised them as a Premier league club. Eddie Howe did that and yes they got relegated, but he stabilised them, Chris Wilder did the same got promoted with Sheffield Utd who also got relegated. My point is just cause a manager got promoted isn't really good enough reason to hire them. Mick McCarthy another example.
Everton are at a crossroads, they need to get their identity back. That for me means buying young players who are hungry to play for our club and not for easy money.
It's unsustainable the way we've going paying big money and big wages for some players near the end of their career with no possibility of selling on at a profit.
Who that manager is only time will tell but like every manager since i started folloing in the late 70s will have my full support regardless whether i'm happy with the appointment or not.

{Ed077's Note - Nuno not only got Wolves promoted but also got back to back 7th position finish ahead of Everton on both occasion mind you. I dont understand why Everton supporters seem to be against hiring NES so much. His Wolves team have done better in the past 3 seasons, since promotion than Everton in the past 3 years.}

The problem is if he doesn't consistently get us into the top 7 his style of play won't wash with the fans. Allardyce got us 8th playing some of the most awful football and he didn't last. If Carlo had kept us playing like we were next season he would have been under pressure if we weren't in and around the top 6.
Moyes didn't have us playing the greatest football but kept his head above water by having 1 good and 1 bad season, we knew what we were getting.
Nuno is going to have his work cutout with the fans back in the ground but am sure if he can implement a fast counter attacking approach or a pressing possession style he'll be fine. Problem is none of our squad can do either, and that's where I think he will fail unless he plays some youngsters and has the balls to drop the usual underperformers.

Nuno was not my first choice, but since supporting Everton since the 60s, like all fans I have come to accepts what's thrown at us by the club and hope for the best. Humble when we have success and take the bad times on the chin. I have no delusions for the next 2 seasons and hope that if we keep him long enough he will have us in the top 6 in 3 years. However like Smit I think he will have his work cut out, if not by sorting out the players, the bickering that seems apparent in the boardroom.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there Smit - doesn’t matter what system or style he plays, it’s down to the personnel; and they’re simply not good enough. Unless we make 5/ 6 quality signings, we will end up exactly where we are again next season.

Finishing higher than us in 2 of 3 seasons doesn’t mean much when we were terrible for all 3 of those seasons.
