Ok so I'm just going to put this out there. People getting excited about the names we have recently been tagged too. Aguero, Moutinho, and now Bale. All great players.
But here is my concern. They are all players of a let's say older age. Including Allan and James, who not as old appears to be made of glass.
Now my question is this. Is Carlo looking to put a team together for short term success, while Brands does his job of trying to get the best young talent for the future.
Or is Carlo looking to put a team together for short term success, because he is not capable of building a team for the future?
Just a thought.

I think he's capable of putting together a squad for the long term tbh, Woburn. I read an interview with him not so long ago that talked about the end of his contract. It expires the same season that we're expecting to move into the new ground and he stated that he wants to be leading the team into Bramley-Mooore Dock. Or words to that effect!
I seen the Bale link earlier and just thought it was lazy journalism. Same can be said over Aguero, although I'd seriously think about taking the latter for a season or two. Providing he can prove he is fit enough, he's had a few niggling injuries of late. That said, I still can't see us going for, or getting, him anyway! At the stage we are at as a club, wanting to break into the top four at least, then there is nothing wrong with signing older players. But that's only if they have something to offer and not here for a final payday.

We need power and pace not arthritis and athletes foot.

I’d be surprised if either player would end up at Everton next season whether we’re interested or not.

Stop talking about me Smit, although I could put in more effort than some of our players.

Bale still has pace but wages and glamour may deter. He is not the fit we want at the moment. We need a good RW, RB, CB and midfield ball carrier.

There's nothing wrong with buying someone who is in the latter stages of their career as long as they add something to the team and helps us get up the table but it is up to CA to balance the squad so that the youngsters can also come through
I can't say I'd be that enamoured with Bale but if Aguero could give us 15-20 goals for a couple of years why not?
Personally though, if we go for an elder player, I'd like to see it in CD. I've seen it work there with the likes of Evans or Dawson and I think it might give us a bit more on-field leadership that I feel we lack. Maybe that's why we've been linked with Koulibali in the past.

{Ed002's Note - There is no chance of Aguero moving to Everton from Manchester City. Bale is a player that Ancelotti knows well and likes. The issue would be his wages - which even taking him on loan, means paying out more than €250k per week.}
